Michele Bachmann: I would ‘not do anything’ for children of illegal immigrants

Michele Bachmann is coming under the microscope after insisting she would not help the children of illegal immigrants living in the United States.

The Republican presidential hopeful made the eyebrow-raising remarks at a campaign stop in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Saturday after a Latino college student asked what Bachmann would do to the children of undocumented immigrants.

She said she would “not do anything,” for the children, adding"Their parents are the ones who brought them here," Bachmann said, as first reported by MSNBC. "They did not have the legal right to come to the United States. We do not owe people who broke our laws to come into the country. We don't owe them anything."

Bachmann has previously taken the hardline stance that she's against the federal government giving U.S. citizenship to the children of those parents who came to the country illegally, which is the case today.

She then brought up her own family's history during the question and answer session.

"I dare say that probably every single person in this room descends from immigrants. I did-my immigrant family came here in the 1850s and they came into the United States legally. They received zero benefits."

Immigration came up at another stop in Ottumwa, Ia, where Bachmann suggested there should be a law barring citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants, according to the Des Moines Register.

"We've got to end this anchor-baby program," she said.

Texas is on the highway to hell. Texans are either too arrogant or stupid to realize it. in 15 years Texans will be moving to Ohio and Michigan in search of a better life.

Californians are already doing this. Well, maybe not to Ohio and Michigan. But to Idaho, Wyoming, Washington State.

Unfortunately a lot of Californians flee their own state, only to bring their liberal politics with them, and eventually ruin their new homes by voting in the kind of leftist policies that doomed California.

If Michele Bachmann was the Governor of a boarder state and had to deal with the Federal govt. on issues such as this she would have an answer based more in reality.

I know many Californians who fled California for more conservative states so as to escape liberal politics; they sure as heck didn’t take it with them.

I wish WISH WISH one of these illegal immigrant “activists” would ask the Mexican government how they treat their illegals and what the Mexican government would “do for the children of illegal immigrants.”

“What’s so eyebrow raising about it?”

Absolutely nothing!

Unless, of course, you are one of the following people:
1.) A politically-correct liberal douche bag,
2.) A union boss,
3.) A member of the DNC,
4.) A member of La Raza,
5.) An illegal immigrant,
6.) A college professor,

Other than these turds, nobody else has a problem with it.

What a horrible, heartless thing to say!

It's just what everyone would think a nasty Republican would say. Everyone knows Republicans hate children, especially brown-skinned ones.

For years now, it's been only because of the intervention of Democrats that the childrun of latinos have any voice at all. If you put a Democrat in charge, you can be for damn sure they'll do something for latino children...

Uh...forget I said anything...

(Do I really need a /s?)

“It’s easy to bitch about something you’ve never had to deal with.”

That’s exactly right and American voters get it. That is why Governors are more likely to get the Presidency than Senators. They have been there and have done that while Senators have just talked about it.

Welcome to Free Republic. Hopefully you don’t get Zotted again - but I see you don’t even call yourself a conservative anymore.

I didn't say "all" Californians in post 22. Just "a lot."

Something similar happened to New Hampshire. Used to be a rock-solid conservative state. Then Massachusetts residents began moving to NH en masse. They were fed up with paying high taxes in Taxachusetts.

However "a lot" of these ex-Massholes (as they're not-so-fondly referred to) brought their liberal politics with them to NH.

Result? NH is no longer reliably conservative, and now has higher taxes.

You really need to do your homework...

First off, Michelle is from a border (that's how you spell it btw) state! If you look at a map you will see Minnesota borders Canada...

As far as her being a Senator, well, not yet... she is a member of Congress!

The same thing is happening with people from blue states that are moving to North Carolina.

Good luck with stopping all those rogue Canadians from running across the border!

“I’d at least give them a free ride to the border”

You know, the funny thing about that? We DO give them rides to the border. Border Patrol picks up people with their children all the time...every day. They sit outside grocery stores and K-Marts beggng or looking for work. They are taken to the border in beautiful air-conditioned SUVs and dropped off at the bridge. A week or two later, they’re back in a parking lot somewhere....or commiting crimes.
Michele Bachman speaks boldly but she doesn’t know what she’s up against just from a humane perspective. I’m not touchy-feely at all. Solutions are hard to come by but those dozen or so states that offer in-state tuition after meeting certain stiff requirements were on the right track.

People don’t realize, in El Paso alone, we have 14,000 Mexican citizens who legally come across our bridges every day. Every single day. They come to work in people’s homes or at various places of business. Many have bank accounts here, own property, send their children to private Christian schools. (Those kids are going to graduate from Texas high schools and will have had a Texas address for years. They will qualify for in-state tuition.) Just what in the hell will Michele Bachman do? They shop, visit relatives, go to church. They have Sam’s Club memberships, JC Penney credit cards. They shop at Target, the Malls, and just about every place there is. They fill our restaurants. They travel to other parts of Texas. Some probably sell drugs for all I know. They go home or some stay in their houses here. That’s just El Paso. God only knows what it’s like in California. Michele Bachman reveals her inability to grasp a serious problem. This has been going on for a hundred years, for goodness sake. What’s her solution? Most of those people who enter are related to someone in this country.
