They are credible, as I said, they came from a staff member to volunteers (of which I am one)

America's best hope is the Left's worst nightmare.

That's not a coincidence.

Romney or Perry behind this? Take your pick.

I had it pegged as Romney or Obama, but Perry's Arizona coordinator posted on Twitter about this three days ago, in response to another person saying that the only reason whites are supporting Cain is to prove they are not racist:

@victoria_29 @proudoftexas this is the same thing I am hearing in AZ! Wait til they actually do the oppo on @THEHermanCain. It's not pretty.

http://twitter.com/#!/slmbolick/status/129770632018788352

It was in poor taste for a Perry coordinator to say that whites are supporting Cain to prove they are not racist, but for the Arizona state coordinator for Perry to come out and admit knowledge of an upcoming attack on Cain three days before Politico rolled it out....just Damn!

How could this Shawnna Bolick person be that damn stupid? That's a special kind of stupid you don't run into just anywhere.

Since the Perry team will probably try and scrub this in the morning, although hard to do since others are copying it down, here's a screenshot:

You are a volunteer for who?
I would be the first to admit I know nothing about how campaigns are run. I hardly ever listen to anything but policy and I haven’t heard any from Romney and Cain. The 9-9-9 plan is not settled. Romney says nothing. Only Perry and Newt talk actual policy.
I would be disappointed to learn the Perry camp had anything to do with the leak about Cain....unless of course, the leak is true. I don’t think anyone should get a pass just because they’re black. We’ll see as it plays out.

Just an FYI. The reason that several people, including some pretty big names, suggest this is because there have been two credible warnings of a smear campaign on Cain coming from the Perry camp, the most recent was just last week - and the warning came directly from a staff member to Iowa volunteers.

Well we know the Arizona coordinator for Perry directly mentioned it on October 27, did not know about Iowa. How the Hell could Perry have such stupid people around him that are willing to publicly talk about it?

Unfortunately, if payments were made there is some sort of basis to reporting the story.

And Obama’s guys would never have let this drop this early.

It is a shame, because Cain talks policy all the time. If you would like to know more about his policy - here are some places to start: http://www.hermancain.com/the-issues and http://www.hermancainissues.com and his commentary history going back to 2005 at http://www.thinkersvoice.com/content/cainscommentary

Why did you feel it necessary to bring up race?

Reminds me of this

And Obama’s guys would never have let this drop this early.

Before I knew about Perry's Arizona coordinator talking about this three days ago, I would have said Romney or Obama.

My first thought was that Obama or Romney got spooked by Cain's increasing donations and poll numbers and they were trying to nip it in the bud. If I didn't see it for my own eyes that Perry's campaign knew about this last week, I would have pegged Obama's campaign. Obama can't risk facing Cain. Romney is a safer bet for Obama, because if Romney gets the nod, the MSM will try to make sure that 100% of voters know Romneycare helped lay the foundation for Obamacare and that Romney is a Mormon.

I still can't get over the stupidity of Perry's campaign to openly discuss this last week. How freaking stupid could you be? This Shawnna Bolick might have just done a lot of harm to Perry's campaign and she'll probably lose her position. If she'd kept her mouth shut like any halfway intelligent person, we'd be looking at Obama or Romney as the culprits.

Somebody is going to ask Perry about how his Arizona coordinator knew about this attack against Cain last week. Can't wait to hear his response.

This is just some reporter looking to make a name for him self, a la Woodward/Bernstein.

Even the Austin Chronicle couldn’t dig up anything on Perry, and they said they tried last year. There’s been a reward out for months, and no response.

Yeah, but the argument could be made that if Obama wants to face Romney, they’re better off having Cain split the conservative vote with deep-pockets Perry. It’s way too early for them to be hacking at Cain. Likewise, if you’re the Romney campaign, you don’t want to give Perry more momentum earlier than you need to. It’s actually the Perry team who would benefit from this early drop. He’s known for going negative and playing hardball, but obviously we’ve no shred of evidence that it comes from his camp.

Oh, sorry, I see now, there is some emerging evidence of the Perry camp having it, I get it. (I was just speculating without that.)

It’s actually not nothing, it’s classic sexual harassment if it is true.

It's a moot point since Perry's camp knew about it in advance, but I think Romney would be terrified of Cain racking of millions of dollars in a short amount of time because one of Cain's biggest problems was a lack of money. Cain can't pick up Romney's supporters - those people have sold their souls to the devil to support him, but with enough money, Cain can unify a lot of Conservatives. That scares the hell out of Romney, the idea of Cain pulling ahead of Romney in more areas well before December rolls around.

Moot point, and in hindsight, you're right, Perry is known for going negative and Perry has to do something to get out of the single digits. He can't wait until Iowa rolls around.

His supporters bring up his race constantly. Constantly. Even Ann Colter today with the “strong black conservative” comment. The language used tonite on several threads calling non supporters racists is beyond belief. I never thought about it too much until it’s been shoved down my throat every day.
It over-rides anything he says. I’m sick to death of posters referring to any criticism of him as lynching. It’s too harsh and I can’t move past it. For many of us, this is our first exposure to him. I could list a lot of dubious quotes but I’d be attacked by someone. You don’t dare ask a question about Herman Cain without someone trying to land a punch rather than answer a question.

“They’re going to come after me more viciously than they would a white candidate,” Cain responded. “You’re right. Clarence Thomas. And so, to use Clarence Thomas as an example, I’m ready for the same high-tech lynching that he went through — for the good of this country.” Cain smiled broadly. “I’m ready for the same high-tech lynching.”

Well...I hope you’re right and someone does ask Perry. He deserves the right to respond. What if, however, there is a problem with Cain’s past? Just asking.

I’d rather have Cain be our nominee than your guy, but you’re right, Cain’s defenders are always bringing up the race angle.

LOL - Ann Coulter is not a Cain supporter. She is a Romney supporter. She likes Cain.

Out of curiosity, where were people being called racist or accusing other FReepers of lynching again? I’d be happy to report it to the mods. In fact, please ping me every time it is “shoved down your throat” by a FReeper and I will be sure and report it to the mods.
