A Wikipedia-style website launched on Monday which provides information about the journalists behind the bylines.
News Transparency is a creation of Ira Stoll, the founder of another website called FutureOfCapitalism.com and the former managing editor of the now defunct New York Sun.
In a statement on its home page, newstransparency.com, the website said its goal is to help users "find out more about the people who produce the news" and "hold them accountable, the same way that journalists hold other powerful institutions accountable, by posting reviews and sharing information."
News Transparency features an alphabetical list of hundreds of journalists and invites users to edit their profiles, which include basic biographical information such as age, education, current employer and work history.
The profiles also includes links to a journalist's social media accounts, articles written about them, their political party affiliation, their charitable donations and their "professional" and "personal" networks.

Could be good, but it depends on who’s running it and if they have an agenda other than the truth.
This is a great idea. But I’m NOT going to give my personal information to register.
I’ll never trust the MSM...they can say we are havin’ an earthquake, while my teeth are rattlin’, and I still wouldn’t believe ‘em.
This is an idea who’s time has come...
How about a Muckety-type graphic showing the spouses and family connections. Always nice to follow the trust fund babies.
Browsing the journos and their listings does not require registration.
These journOLists are all Dems...they are automatically exempt.
Yeah great idea! Shine a light on these MSM cockroaches.
Same with university professors on the liberal arts side. They only hire their own kind. Some exceptions of course but this is the overwhelming tendency.
From orbit.
To be sure.
a good idea if applied equally and fairly,
but if it’s another leftist media site,
then, not.
More power to him!
Wikipedia doesn’t like him so that is one plus!
“Ira Stoll (born 1972) is editor of FutureOfCapitalism.com, a Wall Street apologist Web site funded in part by convicted tax evader Conrad Black, the Canadian media mogul (Mr. Stoll always refers to Black by his honorific title “Lord” in FoC items). He was vice president and managing editor of The New York Sun, which was published from 2002 to 2008.[1] Previously, he served as Washington correspondent and managing editor of The Forward and as North American editor of the Jerusalem Post. He is a graduate of Worcester Academy and Harvard University, where he graduated from in 1994 and served as president of the Crimson.”
He also wrote a biography of Samuel Adams:
In this stirring biography, Samuel Adams joins the first tier of founding fathers, a rank he has long deserved. With eloquence equal to that of Thomas Jefferson and Tom Paine, and with a passionate love of God, Adams helped ignite the flame of liberty and made sure it glowed even during the Revolution’s darkest hours. He was, as Jefferson later observed, “truly the man of the Revolution.”
In a role that many Americans have not fully appreciated until now, Adams played a pivotal role in the events leading up to the bloody confrontation with the British. Believing that God had willed a free American nation, he was among the first patriot leaders to call for independence from England. He was ever the man of action: He saw the opportunity to stir things up after the Boston Massacre and helped plan and instigate the Boston Tea Party, though he did not actually participate in it. A fiery newspaper editor, he railed ceaselessly against “taxation without representation.”
This is a good idea. For example, I would like to know where journalists live, their lifestyle choices, how much money they make, to which party are they registered, how much money they have donated to campaigns, do they drink, do they smoke, do they run around, how many times divorced, ever had a DUI, do they do drugs, do they pay child support, the ages of their children, where their children go to school (private or public, duh!), what church if any do they belong to, do they attend church regularly, do they have sex out of wedlock, are they promiscuous, ever had a STD, where do they take vacations and with whom . . . oh I can think of many more questions I would like the answers to. Many more. Inquiring minds want to know. See how the scum like it!
Re: Shine a light on the cockroaches.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine,
everyday, every way, shine, shine, shine.
Exposure: The atomic enema of the Mainstream Media.
Accuracy in Media and CAMERA and Newsbusters: the Ex-Lax for bad journalism: Getting the crap out of the MSM since the founding of Accuracy in Media (I was present at the birth).
Glad to see another grandchild brought to life. Welcome to the family.
Proud grandpa!
I’ve always thought it would be poetic justice if someone could follow the paparazzi around with a camera and put the pictures with the weird facial expressions, or the ones where they were caught doing something really embarrassing, up on some website for the world to see. Give them a taste of their own medicine.
So I kinda like this idea, although I don’t think that specific personal information such as the home address should be published on the internet, or other specific identifiers that could risk the health or safety of even the most egregious journalists.
The other things, like R vs D, what “causes” they champion and support -— or, paraphrased from “Saundra Duffy”:
where journalists live [in general], their lifestyle choices, how much money they make, how much money they have donated to campaigns, do they drink, do they smoke, do they run around, how many times divorced, ever had a DUI, do they do drugs, do they pay child support, private or public school for their children, what church if any do they belong to, do they attend church regularly, are they promiscuous, where do they take vacations and with whom . . .
Me too. Everything you said. See if they can take what they dish out.
