I think we’ve been betrayed and I want nothing to do with a station that blatantly lies and presents the news falsely.

I've seen the same trend. I almost never watch Fox News and tend to watch Fox Business instead. However in the mornings I have to watch CNBC to get any serious news. Why a "business" channel puts imus on is beyond me.

Fox will fade when one of their competitors cleans house and starts running objective news programs.

No, I think you are this morning’s designated Perry basher. I know you and your little cadre of friends who hop on every Perry thread. Maybe you are the only early riser among them.

Yes. There does seem to be a double wammy going on here, and FOX News is certainly a tool of use for them.

I thought it was VERY unprofessional of Gretchen Carlson to start slamming drunk charges for Governor Perry’s 2 to 3 minutes of jesting in an otherwise very serious speech. That either shows she was too lazy to research the very thing she was providing analysis on or she did know and was misrepresenting.

A little bad comedic acting maybe. (Sorry Governor Perry, lol.) Drunk while doing an overall wonderful speech to a evangelical conservative crowd? Stupid to say that when you take the entire 25 minutes into account.

I am very disappointed in Gretchen Carlson for participating in misinformation like that.

But I still think he’s kind of the ‘vote cute’ candidate that Obama was four years ago. I’m not speaking of the black thing, but of someone outside of the usual political arena, a blank slate upon which desperate people can paint all their hopes and dreams.

...a blank slate....

That is why vetting needs to be done thoughly and rapidly before the selection process begins in Jan. All candidates need to be examined in as complete detail as possible to find out what lurks, if anything.

The ability to respond to these allegations from varying sources also speaks to the candidates ability to organize and surround the campaign with compentent people.

I think the Fox News folks have all gotten the "unwritten" message that they are supporting Romney. It's a coincidence (don't believe in them) that a new attack comes out on Perry at the same time Cain gets in trouble?

I remember Cavuto commenting over a year ago how "presidential" Romney was after an interview.

Fox News was terrific when they started and built their base reporting the news as objectively as possible. Fly over country flocked to them like we did when Rush started. Now they have become infected with that northeast elitist attitude and they gravitate to those type of people. Look at all the love for Christie. He's a good Gov. in a liberal state but he's hardly conservative.

Excellent response . I can’t ever get that image of Newt on the sofa with Nancy supporting Gore’s Climate Scam!

This video smear was created by editing in selected snipets to make a certain impression.

If one views the entire speech, it’s obvious Perry has a playful witty side but he is also serious about the issues he cares about.

This video clearly shows him in an energetic mood, joking with the audience. Perry is an individual of true character who has conservative principals, which are the main atributes I value in a President.

I saw nothing that COULD indicate Perry was drunk. Passionate he is, but Drunk NO.

He has so many good points, especially strong in discussing Energy, he needs to include EPA in this same debate.

In future debate, he needs to IGNORE Romney (who is a non entity in this race anyway), treat Romney as if he were not in the room, do not give him any opportunity to refute via calling him out on something he said or did. That only gives Romney another minute or two to speak. IGNORE ROMNEY.

Speak to the people, straight out and precise on ENERGY & EPA,and getting Gov't. out of our business, that is what we want.

Keep your voice up, don't go down to the whisper/preacher mode and keep your hand gestures to a minimum.

This was a good speech, and he was not drunk.

BTW: I still have not picked my candidate, and Perry is still in my sights as well as Newt and Cain.

FYI - Gov. Perry has serious back issues and requires powerful pain meds to control the pain associated to degenerative disc disease. If anyone has noticed he wears a brace for his back support while on his feet. It is worn under the shirt and helps him to maintain neutral posture. His actions may be the result of his pain meds.

I was around during the appointment hearing for Justice Thomas and I say you are wrong! The same tactic is being foisted on Cain and it is wrong! Cain has a long and established record of solid performance and out of the wood work two people perceived his actions at some point to be sexual in nature? So what, now candidates have to worry about twelve year old accusations which by the way did not rise to any level of impropriety and suddenly it becomes “sexual harassment”. These women were gold diggers looking for the big cash out plain and simple. If Cain was some sort of sexual predator I am sure he would have a slew of woman coming forward. That is not the case. Yes this is another “high tech” lynching of a successful black man who has earned his place to be elected President. He will have my vote if he is the Republican candidate.

At a press conference where there is talk about a previous sexual harassment problem, a Presidential candidate bursts out in song. Talk about totally embarrassment. WTH?

I think they each get an assigned thread, then ping others if they feel overwhelmed. Slow day at Camp Romney, I suppose.

Why do I not believe you were ever a Parry [sic] supporter.Hah!

Maybe because you are lazy?

A simple reading of my posting history would reveal I have never bashed Perry and have actually defended him. It would also reveal I have not openly "cheerleaded" for any candidate...for I am not firmly in any candidate's camp...just firmly AGAINST Romney. I was leaning Perry...and had him #1 and Cain #2 (assuming no Palin...which...and check the history...I always thought she would NOT run)...until I heard more from Cain and now Cain is 1 and Perry is 2. Depending on who is fighting for 1st against Romney when the primaries get to TX...they will probably get my vote.

I think it's still too early to say "this is my guy...let's BASH/destroy everyone else." Why? I think that gives aid and comfort to the ENEMY. I have posted such.

So yes...I am going for "you're lazy." HAH!

I am lazy and I’ve never bothered to look up anyone’s posting history.

I just thought maybe you were one of those seminar caller types who call Rush and say, “I’ve listened to you for years and I usually agree with you BUT...”

I now realize and admit I was wrong and you are definitely right about cautioning people to beware about trashing other candidates. It could come back to bite them if something happens to their favorite.

Also, I was kinda kidding you because you said you were once a Parry supporter. Mean of me because I have typos all the time, but then I am mean ... and lazy.

NO problem. No...not a seminar caller.

It has been very frustrating this primary season to watch while everyone but Romney has been trashed. It is an orchestrated effort on the part of the establishment and too many conservatives have fallen into the trap.

It is one thing to have a candidate that you like or are rooting for...but I have always maintained...especially to the people trashing Perry: What if he gets the nomination? Now what? You trashed him for months to all your friends and now you have to crawfish. You'll look like a fool with no moral center.

Plus...you give aid and comfort to the enemy...and the enemy is the left. They want Romney...make no mistake. However, if they don't get Romney...a badley damaged Perry or Cain would be fine....and our candidates are doing ALL the dirty work FOR them.

It makes me sick. They should stick to policy but show a unified front when it comes to defeating socialism...not hep the other side out by leaving a half-dead nominee.

I’m a Cain supporter—and I really have NO HATRED at all for Gov. Perry. Either man would make a wonderful President—even though Perry is awful about immigration—and a bit too moderate on other things too; Perry is, after all a mainstream Republican—more than an ideological Conservative, who’s been playing ball with the mainline GOP types... for a long time now.

I know Perry about as well as I know Cain...which isn’t all that much. However, when I see a guy who I KNOW will be portrayed JUST LIKE one of the Left-and-Middle folks MOST HATED presidents, W. Bush, I have a hard time believing he will win.

Is Perry REALLY like Bush? No, not at all. Perry’s a real Texan, who is a true self-made man, not a New England heir carpet-bagger Texan like President Bush was... However both men (to us non-Texans) talk alike...have similar mannerisms, and I just KNOW the mainstream Media will make it out that Perry is a Bush clone.

Obama’s whole campaign in ‘08 was really against Bush (not McCain) hence the campaign again would be against Bush’s “ghost” in the person of Perry... Since superficially, it can look that way...(and we know the Media and the Dems are CERTAINLY superficial) I really do think—regardless how good a man Perry is (and I really do think he is a great man) I have serious doubts a (HEAVILY PORTRAYED) Bush III could win.

A more thoroughly ideological Conservative—who is black though—would totally flummox the Dems. They really do NOT know what to do with a serious conservative black man—except trash him—which, as we will see in the coming days, won’t work with Mr. Cain.

I have a hard time getting excited for a guy who takes the RINO/Dem line on immigration too...and in his style can appear drunk, when really he was just relaxed (which I do believe was the case). The national campaign will eat him alive, I’m afraid... No offense to you Texans either, but I’m just not convinced the USA is ready for another Texan as President.

At the start of that video he even hiccups like a drunk...

"Kevin, I want to tha{hic}, I want thank you..."

Nelson, it makes me sick too.

Sometimes I have to take a vacation from Free Republic because of the nastiness.

I know it’s an open forum but I just wish that the mods would see fit to delete some of the worst posters.

Oh, well.

Fwiw, Perry’s host for the event called the Howie Carr show today, and swore Perry hadn’t been drinking. He said he had no idea if any ‘controlled substance’ - Howie’s suggestion - was at play. After Howie played a very protracted clip, ALL the texts he read did, however, accuse Perry of inebriation. One interesting comment came out to the effect that Perry has back problems. Could painkillers produce the effect of a buzz?

I stand by my original comments, though it appears an alcohol buzz has been ruled out. I still believe a chemical substance was involved. This was a different Perry than I’ve seen/heard in the past. It wasn’t just a relaxed, happy Perry; it was an altered Perry.
