Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain's inconsistent statements in the wake of revelations that he was accused of sexual misconduct in the 1990s are complicating his efforts to move on from the incendiary story - and may prompt voters who would otherwise have discounted the allegations to reconsider.
During his initial media interviews on Monday, Cain said that he was unaware if the National Restaurant Association, which he headed during the 1990s, had paid a financial settlement to a female employee or employees who had accused him of sexual misconduct. Politico reported Sunday that at least two women complained about Cain's behavior and ultimately left the group. The woman reportedly received financial payouts and agreed not to discuss the reason they left.
Hannity is doing something even more insideous: Sean is making oblique assertions without qualifiers. Disgusting rino, rominy worshipping little nettle.
Anything to keep the Corzine/Obama scandal off the front pages.
I wathed Greta twice yesterday to make sure I caught it all. I concluded that there is no there there. If he is lying, he very good at it. Bogus crap.
I think it is past time someone start questioning Rove and the GOP machine about what his ties are to specific GOPcampaigns.
He claims to be an “objective” commentator. Fine, then let him clear up the questions about his contacts with other GOP Candidates campaigns
The other thing credible journalists might want to press Rove to clear up just what his role was in the robo-call smear campaign against John McCain in South Carolina prior to the 2000 GOP primary.
Rove needs to put these questions to bed by releasing any documentation he has clearing up the allegations that he staged that the smear job against McCain.
(Note to the Rovebots, how do you like being on the receiving end of your own media tactics for a change?)
I don’t understand all of the media hype. So he can’t remember a 12 year old non-event from which he recused himself. Lawyers and insurers make these settlements all of the time and he probably signed off on it just to be good riddance.

Strange how CBS on their website gives twice as much space to this story that’s over 20 years old and half as much space (you can hardly see it) to the Fast and Furious investigation.

Everybody knows the Politico story was a b.s. hitpiece.
Everybody knows that Mr. Cain put the whole thing to rest on Greta yesterday.
Today the leftists, Mittbots, and Perrywinkles are reduced to sobbing about Cain’s first statements in the hours after the Politico piece appeared.

Cain should have come out right after the story was published by Politico, consulted with Restaurant Association employees who had relevant information, and then made a public statement providing everything that happened to the best of his knowledge.
It certainly doesn’t help anyone’s credibility when they say they “can’t recall” certain facts and then later amend their previous statement(s). Even if there was “sexual harassment” as legally defined, most Americans are fair-minded and this would have eventually become a dead news story. But when you obfuscate or try to cover up what happened, and then facts later come out that show you were being deceitful, you’re toast. Ask Dick Nixon.

Monday was a media access day - he had appearances all day long scheduled. I’m sure was getting briefed on this situation between meetings - it was obvious he was filling in more details as the day went on.
He could have waited a day and get his ducks in a row. That’s what a politician would have done. But he took the bull by the horns and people are applauding his straightforward approach to this. He had his highest fundraising ever yesterday, and a lot of people on the fence are now in Cain’s corner.
