Bachmann: GOP Can't Have Nominee With 'Surprises' November 1 2011

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann says her party can't have a nominee with "surprises" in his record, a jab at rival Herman Cain as he defends himself against allegations of sexual harassment.

The congresswoman from Minnesota told a meeting of Baptists in Iowa on Tuesday night that the GOP needs to have a candidate the party can trust.

Standing in the pulpit of a Marshalltown church, she told supporters, in her words, "This is the year when we can't have any surprises with our candidate."

I'm surprised at how this woman can't stop destroying herself every time she opens her mouth.

I'm already ashamed that I ever sent Michele money. If she keeps this up, I'll be happy to see her ousted from Congress.

Early on, she was one of my top three. But, I finally gave up on her at the last Debate, even then she was tanking in the polls. But still, although not IMHO, presidential and worthy consideration for Cabinet, etc., But now,

I wouldn't hire her.

Every time she opens her mouth, she seems to serve us one of the same surprises she decries.

You go girl.. We like her to stay in the race. Keep all options open until it’s time to pull levers.

Oh for heaven’s sake already.... you know, screw it. I’m backing Newt. We know his warts, but the man can flat out make policy happen - can balance the budget, and admits his mistakes and refuses to pile on to fellow Pubbies. If not Herman, then Newt. The rest can go pound sand. Damnit Sarah - why’d you have to sit this one out???? Furthermore I believe things at FreeRepublic are about to unravel and splinter... this may not be a bad thing though. Those of us who stay can help rebuild this site with Conservative posters.

Why not? She needs to exit gracefully.

Welcome to the team. I’ve been supportive of several of these candidates, but I’ve leaned towards Newt for about 2 weeks now. I think he’s the one...

“....why’d you have to sit this one out?”

Why do you have to ask? Isn’t it evident that the is a completely poisonous atmosphere between all these GOP candidates? None of them can resist cutting any and all of the others to pieces, either in the debates, from behind the scenes, through surrogates, in speeches to the public or in interviews with the media. It is stunning, and not one of them has refrained from engaging in it.

Over a year of hard work she won many friends. She has no chance to win and the nomination, and she is now losing her allies faster than she made them.

>>>> Congresswoman Bachmann, go away with that stupid talk.

Yeah, We WANT a candidate with surprises!

Then we can defend him by complaining that everybody is picking on him. Lotsa fun.

Not surprising. Bachmann and Santorem have done nothing but attack the other candidates. They are both like little rabid chihuahua ankle biters.

Bachmann isn’t relevant enough to have a media “surprise.’

"It would be GREAT to see a Republican candidate actually come to Cain’s defense."

I heard Newt defend Cain on Monday, googled but could not find the quote. Maybe someones got it and can post it. Sure looks like a (media) smear job to me.

So says Romney's theoretical VP.

Pathetic, Michelle. Just another sell-out.
