Rep. Ryan: Romneycare no longer 'matters that much' (Paul Ryan defends Romney)

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) indicated on Tuesday that he has come around to Mitt Romney on the issue of healthcare.

“Romney’s been very clear that he’s against ObamaCare and he’s going to repeal it. So I for a second don’t worry about whether he’s going to shy away from repealing the president’s health care law,” Ryan said in an interview with The Weekly Standard.

Ryan went on to compliment Romney on a variety of issues.

He described Romney as proving himself “pretty capable and strong and resilient” when it comes to the slew of GOP debates over the past few months.

He also said he believes Romney is “serious about fixing” entitlements including Social Security, as are the other candidates Ryan named, such as Rick Perry and Herman Cain.

And I agree.

Dear Congressman Ryan,

Please do us all a favor. Sit the **** down and shut the **** up unless you’re convening Impeachment Hearings.

Thanks,

L

Whoa! Romney was also very clear that he supported abortion. I don’t believe a word Romney says. So.....if Paul Ryan endorses Romney.... is that HIS DeDe Scozzafava moment?

One of the benefits of being a conervative is that you mistrust all politicians....so I’m never disappointed...

It’s gross the way some conservatives are turning into groupies for a certain politician or candidate these days. Once you start doing that you start going to silly lengths to make excuses for them and defend every misstep they make.

Methinks supposedly strong conservative GOP-types in DC are self-destructing in unrecoverable fashion - it must be something in the water - or something big in the mail.

Pragmatically, he’s anticipating the possibility of having to work with him.
Not many Senator’s endorsing candidates just yet, at the risk of alienation if they’re wrong.

“Romney’s been very clear that he’s against ObamaCare and he’s going to repeal it.

No he's not. First of all Congress would have to repeal it - not Romney. Does Ryan mean to tell me the author of RomneyCare is going to persuade Congress to repeal ObamaCare? ha ha ha Of course not. The dirty little secret is it will be extremely hard for anyone to undo any government program much less a RINO like Romney.

BS. “Romneycare” is the center of our complaint and distrust of this RINO. His continued backing of this Massachusetts debacle is his downfall.

I wonder if the GOP leadership made a deal with talk radio: Dump Palin and we’ll give you Cain (and we’ll make it a fair contest). Anyone notice how Sarah was getting treated in last few months before she dropped out?

Seems that the GOP leadership is backing out of the deal (never intended to honor it anyway)....and talk radio is realizing it got pawned.

Good points all.

This thing with Cain was NOT the Liberals. It was the GOP establishment all the way. And now RINO Romney is edging towards OK.

It seems the GOP has a lot of backbenchers and rinos. Paul Ryan, who I like, said a wrong thing today.

Well they are circling the wagons for Mitt. Cain is getting too close. It wasn’t supposed to be this way. LOL!

I don’t know about you guys, but if we are stuck with Romney, I would take Ryan over any other choice as VP. Maybe his comments have something to do with a deal.

“It seems the GOP has a lot of backbenchers and rinos. Paul Ryan, who I like, said a wrong thing today.”

That’s it? He said a wrong thing?? Newt Gingrich was crucified for saying he was against “right-wing social engineering”. Paul Ryan says it’s okay, and THAT’S not a big deal? People here first owe Newt an apology, then need to hammer Paul Ryan’s email/Facebook, etc. for accepting Romney’s right-wing social engineering.

Wow. And digging around on this Cain thing, I found an old WSJ article that noted Santorum had eventually backed Romney in 2008 too.

"You guys/gals realize we’re being sold out, right??"

Absolutely. When has GoldmanSachs ever lost a presidential election? They're bankrolling Mittens over Bobo 3:1.
