A new report claims that Republican presidential contender Herman Cain voted for Democrat Bill Clinton for president in his first run, as well as for two Nebraska Democratic candidates in the past.

In a story on the Nebraska Watchdog website, Joe Jordan writes that Mr. Cain supported Mr.Clinton during his 1992 presidential bid, 17 months before he squared off with Mr. Clinton over his push to overhaul the national health care system.

In the finest tradition of Ronald Reagan and Rick Perry!

Welcome to the Republican Party, Mr. Cain!

“According to J. D. Gordon, Cain’s vice-president of communications, Clinton was the last Democratic candidate for President that Cain supported,” the report says. “Gordon tells Nebraska Watchdog that by 1996 Cain — who had joined up with Jack Kemp, the GOP’s vice-presidential candidate — had ‘changed’ to the Republican Party.”

I call Bull Scat because he worked for Dole shortly thereafter and you can find a lot of news articles from 92-93 where Cain was attacking Clinton and defending HW Bush.

https://www.google.com/search?q=Herman+Cain&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=%22Herman+Cain%22+George+Bush&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=Q7S&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&prmd=imvnsuo&sa=X&ei=wcGwTvHGCMKosALIxOW3AQ&ved=0CBQQpwUoBw&source=lnt&tbs=cdr:1%2Ccd_min%3A11%2F1%2F1990%2Ccd_max%3A11%2F1%2F1993&tbm=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&fp=afbc87e2ba92858e&biw=1366&bih=605

People who throw these crap accusations out don’t realize that it is easy to pull up news articles from the time to see what folks were saying.

Which is really funny because if you see my previous post, news articles from the time have Cain attacking Clinton.

Bull scat is bull scat, no matter if it has a flower growing out of it in some folks opinion.

"If you think that is bad, I voted for Jimmy Carter!"

I was also one of the dupes who voted for Carter because he was supposedly a "christian". Biggest political mistake I ever made but I learned my lesson and have never voted for another democRAT in my life since.

The attacks on Cain are getting crazy. The next thing you know the Washington Post will be reporting that Cain, oh my goodness, DRINKS buttermilk!

I wish Herman hadn’t alienated Perry supporters (pragmatic or fanatical) with his tack and sail along Romney and denigration of Perry. I’d probably be fighting tooth and nail for Cain if he hadn’t.

“by 1996 Cain — who had joined up with Jack Kemp, the GOP’s vice-presidential candidate — had ‘changed’ to the Republican Party.”

Cain said the same thing in an interview not that long ago that it was around 96 that he became a Republican.

Where have you been? LOL

You all thought you found a bombshell, huh?

Still trying to sink the SS Cain?

“These same folks like to gloss over...no I should say completely sweep under the carpet that Rick Perry USED TO BE A DEMOCRAT and ACTIVELY CAMPAIGNED for one of modern times BIGGEST SOCIALIST NUT CASES....AL GORE.”

Well, if supporting Gore is bad, then supporting Clinton must be worse.

Which proves the old adage ‘be nice to people on the way up, because you will surely need them on the way down.’

I admit to having voted for one democrat in my 60 years on this planet. He promptly rescinded his promises to Catholics about abortion and I learned my lesson. Never again, as they say.

So J. D. Gordon, Cain’s vice-president of communications, is just blowing smoke? Why would he do that to his boss?

Actually, to be accurate it is the Washington Times citing a blog who claims to have talked to Gordon.

It is a third or fourth hand story.

But it was sourced from a blog on the internet so it must be true.

As I said when people lied about who Perry voted for in the 1980s — how are you going to prove this? Ask Cain, if he said he voted for Clinton, then we know, if he says he voted for Bush, or for Perot, you have to take him at his word, because there’s no way to check the records.

I know someone has posted his donations, and nobody has shown him giving money to Clinton. He did give money to some friends of his who were democrats, but I would think to give him a pass for that. (although I have a guy I worked for running for school board, and I was going to give him a little money until I saw he was proud of getting the democrat’s endorsement, and then I decided no).

Read the article again. The Washington Times didn’t talk to Gordon. They are citing a blog who claimed to speak with him.

If it is on a blog on the internet it must be true, right?

Cain has criticized Romney on 4 different issues (jobs, Romneycare, missing debates, tax plan) and he has criticized Perry on 2 issues (the rock, immigration). How exactly is that considered “tacking along with Romney” again?

If I had a dime for every “I would have supported Cain but...” You’re not fooling anyone.

I can’t see your attachment, but, nonetheless.

The point here is that your today enemies are not yesterdays enemies. There is a serious mental gulf to cross here.

Hate Romney and love Cain? Okay. Fine. There are reasons for doing so. Realize today that there are reasons to gravitate toward Romney and eschew Cain. Equally, so, do the same in the same ground.
