The Al-Arabiya network reported Wednesday that a source close to the Iranian government's spokesman confirmed that Tehran planned to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington.

According to the source, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi recently told a former National Security Council member that the charges against the Revolutionary Guards were true. (Roee Nahmias)

Can anyone imagine a news article 70 years ago saying something like, “A source to the Fuhrer, who requested anonymity, said.....”

Yeah, well, that’ll get another stern letter and another sanction or 2.

Why would an Iranian source “close to the government’s spokesman” be trying to leak this so openly?

Good question. I suspect it has something to do with the rift between Iaminutjob/IRGC and the Mullahs

I thought the Guards reported to the Supreme Leader.

They are supposed to, but I was of the understanding that some of the IRGC is in Imanutjob’s camp.

Either we paid him off to say this, or it’s true. I tend to think it’s true.

The shiites don’t get along with non-shiite muslims. They’d love to see Saudi Arabia ‘pay’ for working with Americans. Even though they’ve done plenty to work against us.

Can’t please everyone I guess. In the muslim world however, this fact of life could easily end yours.

America has very little to do with it. The Mullahs want Mecca.

Recall if you will that years ago and armed invasion of the Hajj failed and the Iranian troops in Hajji mufti were killed to the last man.

If what I heard in North Dakota last week is true the Bakken oil Formation in western ND may make middle east oil un-necessary in 5 years or so. In which case we can just let them have at each other and stay out of it. Workers are in demand; plenty of jobs. They work 21 (12-hour) days in a row and then get 7 days off; six figure incomes. I was told that the workers at Taco Bell are making $16/hr.

Barry will do his best to shut this down.

I can understand the obsession with Mecca. Didn’t know about the attempted takeover though. When did that happen?
