Once a taboo topic on TV, abortion is being worked into the storylines of popular prime time series from “Friday Night Lights” to “Grey’s Anatomy.” And last week it was announced that Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s “True Blood,” is working on a new HBO series called “Wichita,” which will be based on the life of Dr. George Tiller, the abortion clinic doctor who was shot and killed by a pro-life activist in 2009.

As plotlines involving abortion become more commonplace, some are celebrating the erosion of stigmas surrounding abortion, while others grow increasingly alarmed.

Yep. ‘Six Feet Under’ started off as a good show, but ended up being ‘all gay, all the time’.

I tried to watch it once. I got five minutes in before two men were having sex against a car in a parking garage... that was all I could take.

I haven’t read the book, but I have seen the film, and Homer’s defining moment is when he accepts that sometimes abortions are necessary.

I consider the movie to be pro-abortion. Not sure about the book.

Of course you’re correct. It’s no secret that “Cider House” is a pro-abortion film.

I knwo there's no way in heck it could happen but.......
I really beleive the "de-sensitization" would stop dead in in tracks if:
the "public" could "see", as in, shown on prime-time TV -
a side by side of videos of a live birth vs. late term abortion.

Of course. Why else would the New York Times review it favorably?

Homer (Tobey Maguire) is portrayed as a naive simpleton because of his opposition to abortion. His character arc comes when he performs an abortion. He is then shown as enlightened.

Homer provides an abortion for a teenage girl who has has been raped and impregnated by her father, and his defining moment is realizing that SOME abortions are necessary.

The movie is pro-abortion. I don’t believe that any abortions are necessary.
