This part was jaw-dropping for me:

Frank’s father Francis Schaeffer [emphasis added] was credited as a major theological inspiration for the conservative Christian political movement, including the U.S. pro-life movement. While still widely regarded as an Evangelical leader, Frank has joined the Greek Orthodox Church and renounced his former pro-life views.

“Fundamentalist religion of all kinds is the enemy of democracy and thus of America. It is the enemy of working people everywhere too when it’s bogus moral crusades empower the rich to thumb their noses at our government,” he wrote.

I guess even children of saints can become evil by their own willful disobedience.

We all should. I will not willfully permit the desecration of any church by pagans. Call me and I will help defend them.

Then why is he in the Greek Orthodox Church? Last time I heard, Eastern Orthodoxy is prolife and pro-marriage as Jesus defined it in Matthew 19:4-6.

How does that work? I don't know much about the Orthodox church, but I've always assumed that it was pro-life.

By the way, the same U.S. law that forbids forcible occupation of an abortion clinic also forbids disrupting religious services in this matter.

“I guess even children of saints can become evil by their own willful disobedience.”

Or, they could be tired of camping outside in the winter, noticed the Church had central heat, a warm/dry interior, and sympathetic management.

Just sayin’.

Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE or the Access Act, Pub. L. No. 103-259, 108 Stat. 694) (May 26, 1994, 18 U.S.C. § 248)

I’d bring a friggin’ samurai katana. Cut an arm off easy. Or anything else in its path that’s not made of steel.

You can’t have collectivism with individual judgement and consequence standing in the way.

““I think it’s inevitable in any protest movement,” McGarry told LifeSiteNews. “You’ll often see a pattern where things start fairly responsibly and then factions either break off or more radical groups join in.”

UH, DUH!

“they could be tired of camping outside in the winter, noticed the Church had central heat, a warm/dry interior, and sympathetic management.”

That sympathy disappears quickly when the Church stands to lose; look at some Catholic schools & hospitals fight efforts by their workers to unionize. Also, a lot of construction work done for the Church is non-union; the lowest bidder can’t afford union workers.

Exactly. My guess is that becoming (nominally) Greek Orthodox was his most extreme way of rebelling against his fundamentalist Christian roots. The G.O. part means nothing to him; it's just his anarchist way of contemptuously thumbing his nose at the faith of his father.

Stopped by the Knights of Columbus. Love it.

Fortunately it is now November and not mid-July.
