AP Headline: 'Colorado Tax Defeat A Signal Of Voters' Sour Mood'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/03/2011 4:50:16 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

"Some thoughts on those angry voters. Ask parents of any two-year-old and they can tell you about those temper tantrums: the stomping feet, the rolling eyes, the screaming . . . The voters had a temper tantrum last week."-- ABCs' Peter Jennings, November 14, 1994, explaining the Republican congressional victory.

Looks like the Associated Press has had its Peter Jennings temper-tantrum moment. AP's explanation, as per the headline it chose for its story, of the overwhelming, 30-point margin by which Colorado voters rejected a tax-raising referendum? Coloradans were in a "sour mood." More after the jump.

Do you oppose higher taxes? You must be having a temper tantrum or are in a sour mood! Ping to Today show list.

Failure of the nanny state and liberal indoctrination centers, we call Public Schools, is the reason for our “sour mood”.

Gee can I play?

Due to bad economic conditions the newspaper announced a 30 percent reduction in employees. Journalists were in a "sour mood."

This is fun!

In the liberal media mindset, mature, sensible citizens will vote for higher taxes, and by extension, for Democrats. If they don't, they must have taken temporary leave of their senses. The notion that people, in full control of their rational faculties, might be opposed to higher taxes and more goverment, simply doesn't compute in the MSM medulla.

More are starting to nail this. No more spending.

“The voters had a temper tantrum last week.” N O T!!

It is the Liberals demanding more and more of workers’ income to fund more and more entitlements. (Because no matter what Liberals call their current and urgent need for MORE money, it boils down to TOO MANY ENTITLEMENTS!!)

Taxpayers in this country are at the saturation point with taxation. It will reach a point where, not being able to save, invest or get ahead because of the increasing taxes.... workers will find the difference between work and indolence is a wash!!!

We may be there NOW for many workers in America. The problem IS that most workers were brought up to abhor indolence and experience actual stigma and shame at not being able to support THEMSELVES!!! Liberals consistently overlook this and lump ALL poor Americans together.... those who want to work and can't get work are counted and considered right along with those who don't/never have worked and feel NO stigma or shame about being life long able-bodied wards of the state!!!

democRATS are the party of take what others have and give it to those whose vote for more democRATS. RINOS follow the same pattern while hiding in the GOP (one shall know them by their votes). A citizen must remain ever vigilant and be loaded for RATS and RINOS when casting rocks via a vote. Here's to a season of record numbers of RATS and RINOS going down in 2012! Do it to save the Constitution and the Nation.

What’s the worst aspect of the MSM? Their bias or their predictability?

Any positive outcome for the GOP/conservatives is a tantrum, anger, etc.

Any positive outcome for the Dems is a movement, a tide, an upswell, an adult recognition of problems, etc.

Wait until their temper tantrum in November 2012. That’ll be a whopper! (With apologies to Burger King).

Using our hard earned money to support Millions of Illegals is what is breaking our backs!

If you look at where our money is being spent it is on providing “services” for these non-citizens....education, health care, food stamps, police, fire, etc.

America is my home. When people break into my home it is considered burglary and they are arrested.

As they always do, AP gets it wrong.

Deliberately.

I guess I had a tantrum then. Not only did I vote no, it was difficult to not write “Oh Hell NO!” on the ballot.

It gladdened my heart to see a tax rejected here in Colorado. What shocked me is that the Denver ballot initiative to impose mandatory sick days for business employees failed.

Sick days plus vacation plus holidays would sink many small businesses.

It makes my heart smile knowing, also, that there are MANY leftist tears flowing in Boulder as well because of this election outcome...

This will be reversed next week when Ohio rejects SB5 and hands the unions a major victory. This and Kasich’s miserable poll numbers don’t bode well for 2012 in Ohio. Clearly unions have a tremendous amount of $ they can use to sway opinions. Just ask the 2 Republicans that lost their seats in Wisconsin.
