Members to Super Committee: GO BIG

Congressmen Mike Simpson (R-ID) and Heath Shuler (D-NC) are leading a 100-Member strong bipartisan effort to send a simple but important message to the Joint Select Committee on the Deficit Reduction, known as the Super Committee: Go Big. The 100 bipartisan Members of Congress sent a letter to the Super Committee with the simple and direct message that everything should be on the table and the goal should be closer to $4 trillion rather than the $1.2 trillion in deficit reduction required under the Budget Control Act.
“This letter is signed by conservative, moderate, and liberal members of the House, and while their political philosophies may differ, they all understand the urgency that our national debt crisis represents. They understand that the Super Committee represents our best, and possibly only, chance to make the real reforms needed to return our country to fiscal health,” said Simpson. “I commend Representative Shuler for his tireless efforts to gather support for this letter. Heath understands that this is the time to act, and the respect he has among his colleagues and his ability to build consensus have made him a crucial partner in this important effort.”
“I am so proud of all of my colleagues who signed this letter for their courage to put country before political parties and do what is right for the fiscal future of our nation,” said Rep. Shuler (D-NC). “Many believed the House could never come together to provide the real solutions and leadership our nation needs to get on a fiscally sustainable path. Yeah, like that would win them reelection. I think voters are just about fed up with federal spending and increasing taxes would produce the same effect as Buffet's idea.

Hey, the super committee is in the Constitution, right after the paragraph on czars, which is just under the section on the abortion penumbra. Mark Levin was saying just that on his radio program yesterday [/s].

Well, 2010 was a step in the right direction, but far too many RINOS are in positions of authority in the GOP leadership. This kind of crap just shows the need for another 2010-type year, but this time we need to primary some of the leadership-starting with Boehner.
And BTW-this is EXACTLY the kind of crap we get with people like Romney. Anybody who sees what’s going on here, is rightly disgusted by it, then still turns around and supports Romney is a complete and total FOOL.
Unfortunately, I don't think this is true. I still believe people will vote for whoever they think will put more $$ in their pocket, regardless of who it comes from.
Time to get DC out of our pockets and out of our personal business. The entitlement crowd is sucking us dry and are far and away the biggest drain on our pocketbooks.
We need a 30% across the board cut in spending, just for starters. Get the greed-crazed politicians out of lives!
The only (R) from Illinois is a RINO (Dold) so I’m happy that our current R Reps from Illinois are actually standing by their conservative principles...
Sad but true, we may not be willing but they don’t mind robbing us by force.
