Rep. Laura Richardson tries to head off ethics probe
By JOHN BRESNAHAN | 11/2/11 11:42 PM EDT

Rep. Laura Richardson is lobbying members of the House Ethics Committee in a last-ditch bid to avoid a formal investigation into allegations that she pressured her staff to engage in banned political activities while on her congressional payroll.

The California Democrat sent a private letter to all 10 members of the secretive panel Tuesday, stating that she would agree to a minor sanction such as a public reprimand over the alleged violations. But Richardson urged her House colleagues not to move forward with a full investigation. Such a probe would drag on well into 2012 and could be a serious blow to her already troubled reelection efforts.

What is the point anyway...note that Watters has not been brought up on any charges of late albeit the ethics group said she was over the line with her recommending money be sent to a bank run by her husband as part of TARP.

Throw a subpoena or search warrant into any crowd of democrats and they will scatter like the roaches they are. They are a party of criminals. If they were roman soldiers even decimation would fail to punish all of the guilty.

Laura Richardson explains circumstances, insists she is not a corrupt politician

September 25th, 2009

http://www.signaltribunenewspaper.com/archives/4400

About two weeks after the Signal Tribune interviewed Congresswoman Laura Richardson (D–37th CA District), the Washington, D.C.-based Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) put her on its annual list of “Most Corrupt Members of Congress.”

This is the second consecutive year that CREW has placed Richardson on the list.

According to the CREW report, Richardson’s recent financial problems and an Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) investigation show that she is dishonest.

Of concern to CREW was Richardson’s failure to make mortgage payments for almost a year on a home she owned in Sacramento. In early 2008, Washington Mutual, the holder of the mortgage, sold the home in foreclosure to James York, who then proceeded to invest money into the cleanup and repair of the house.

According to media reports, Richardson claimed she did not know about the foreclosure sale and she insisted that, before the sale, she had already reached an agreement with the bank to restructure the loan.

The bank rescinded the foreclosure sale in June 2008. Soon afterwards, York sued Richardson and Washington Mutual, claiming that the bank had given Richardson preferential treatment because she is a government official.
A month later, York dropped the lawsuit and Richardson retook possession of the property.

In July 2009, OCE initiated its investigation to determine how it was that Richardson was able to regain possession of the home after it had been sold in foreclosure. OCE is also looking into whether the House of Representatives Gift Rule was violated when residents in the neighborhood of Richardson’s Sacramento home spent their money for landscape maintenance on her property.

That issue had begun with complaints made by residents who told city officials and news reporters that she had neglected maintenance and cleanup of the property– located in an upscale neighborhood– since she had purchased it.

The City of Sacramento declared the property a “public nuisance” in 2008 and “blighted” in 2009. Soon thereafter, some of the neighbors pooled their money to hire gardeners to clean and maintain the yard.

(.....ETC, ETC, ETC....)

And yet, year after year, this creature is still returned to Congress. Hey you CA voters, WTH are you THINKING?! You DON’T think. And that, my FRiends, is why the US is going down, and going down hard.

Her “troubled reelection efforts”? What are they talking about? Her district is 72% Democrat and only 12% Republican. Perhaps she could be toppled in a primary, but if she gets the nod, there’s no way she would lose in the general election.

Imagine how crooked she must really be if even the brain dead Dems in her district don’t want her.

She’s a habitual victim.

She had a house go in to foreclosure 5 times in 13 months. The five defaults totaled nearly $71,000. Her neighbors complained that she junked the house. They were glad to she her go.
She claimed she didn’t know it was sold and wasn’t notified of the foreclosure.
