Perry Claims He Can Secure Border in One Year as President
Fox ^ | November 3, 2011 | Hannity interviews Gov. Rick Perry

Posted on 11/03/2011 8:46:48 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

....PERRY: Well, let me just put it this way. The federal government's complete and absolute failure to secure our border put a lot of pressure on governors no matter where they might be to have to deal with issues. You are required to give health care, you are required to give education. And Texans made a decision -- are we going to kick these people to the side of the road and they are going to become tax wasters? Or are we going to require that they become citizens of the United States and become taxpayers? We chose the latter. I would still do that today, considering the barriers that if you will, the arena that we have to work in.

As the president of the United States, I am against the DREAM Act. I will shut that border down because I have had to deal with it for 10 years. I understand. I am putting Texas Rangers and National Guard, I am putting Texas citizens on the line over there, they are being fired at. Thank God none of them have been killed yet. But the fact is, I know how to secure that border. When I am the president, that border will be secure. And these issues that we have been forced to deal with as governors, will start being alleviated. And then we can have a decent, a thoughtful and economically focused conversation about immigration policy.

HANNITY: So you think you could secure the border in what period of time if you're president?

PERRY: I think you can do it within a year. I mean, seriously, within a year --

He already told Vincente Fox that he shared his desire for open borders.

Could be secured in three days flat.

Media and UN outrage would be enormous though.

Is this a picture of Perry’s most enthusiastic supporters?

If so, Perry’s got a problem.

Sure sounds like amnesty to me.

This is the same guy who gave illegal aliens in-state tuition rates, while if any of us Americans tried to send a kid to a Texas university, we’d get to pay the out-of-state rates.

I was very tempted to say that my last kid, who had to pay out-of-state tuition rates in at the U of Oregon, was an illegal alien, so they’d charge her less. Well, that was liberal Oregon. But Texas? Obviously Perry’s pals in the government/big-business coalition want cheap labor, and the taxpayers can foot the bills.

So I’m fibbing about Gov. Perry and in-state tuition? That’s just an invention of the Perry-haters? All illegals are reported to Homeland Security and deported rather than given a free K-12 and deeply discounted college education? Parkland hospital in Dallas doesn’t have more illegal patients than legal? We aren’t heartless” like your boy said we were? Whew! That’s good to know!!

I could do it in 1 minute:

Dear Border Patrol, please do your jobs as expected under the law, and if any manager tells you to do anything that prevents you from controlling our border please arrest them for sedition and bring them to me. Thank you. Your Boss, the President of the United States.

Dear ICE, please do your jobs as expected enforcing the laws, arrest and deport illegal aliens, and arrest and charge those conspiring to give them jobs, housing, or transport them, and if any manager tells you to do anything that prevents you from your duties please arrest them for sedition and bring them to me. Thank you. Your Boss, the President of the United States.

Problem solved.

I say to them give me some things that Cain has accomplished besides making good pizza..I could care less if he made a pass at Queen Elizabeth I want to know what he has to offer besides the 999 idiot plan..

So how’s he going to secure the border again?

Easy, the new border with Guatemala and Belize will be a lot smaller.

Did he speak to/rebuke La Raza about/for their ugly, destructive, overt racism?

La Raza motto:

“Por La Raza todo, Fuera de La Raza nada.”

That closing two-sentence motto is chilling to everyone who values equal rights for all. It says: “For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing.”

While I am advancing in time here. There really needs to be an honest national debate on immigration reform.

This problem isn’t going away. And I don’t outright accept the false premise that we cannot deport 16 million illegals. Newt nailed that in one of the debates. I was cheering!

I want comprehensive immigration reform. And most people, except for the most nativists among us do too. If you live near the border like I do, you really, really want an honest conversation.

Perry’s suggestion last night on Hannity was refreshing. He says we need to secure the border first. There’s not a person in the world besides Obama that doesn’t agree with that position. Of all the candidates, Perry has the most depth and breadth of experience in dealing with the border.

He’s had 11 years to close the border in TX and he hasn’t done anything about it yet. And he’s against the DREAM act? Then why did he support a TX version of the same thing?

Same old Gov. Goodhair we’ve seen since 2000. Say one thing on the election trail to drum up support, do another once in office.

With a 2,000 mile border, 400 military outpost manned with no fewer that 20 troops at any given time. Constant patrol and the authority to actually shoot.

With electronic surveillance and drones you would only need about 1/4 that force on the ground. Add a a 'quick response' team with gunship support every 100 miles.
