Local Pediatricians Refusing To See Non-Vaccinated Patients
KDKA - Pittsburgh ^ | 11/2/2011

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Chris Barnes, 11, is getting his latest round of vaccinations for measles and tetanus.

“It doesn’t really scare me as much as other people, it’s just a shot,” he said.

Without regular immunizations, Chris would be turned away at his pediatrician’s office.

Dr. Wayne Yankus refuses to see patients unless they follow the government recommended immunization schedule.

For those of you critical of my viewpoint: I’m not denying that SOME vaccines are ok, however many are not ethically produced & contain aborted fetal cells. And, most contain contaminants as well as a peanut-oil base. There is speculation (yes I realize it’s only speculation) mounting about the enormous spike in peanut allergies since these vaccines have been manufactured w/ a peanut oil base. So are these things disclosed to parents? No. And if your child develops an anaphylactic reaction to nuts, endangering their life on a daily basis, would you still consider these vaccines safe??

My point is that this physician is not allowing parents to make an informed choice. Instead, he’s spouting government propaganda. And I’m surprised that FReepers have been more critical of my view than of dome authoritarian jerk.

You apparently are not old enough (under 50) to remember the polio clinics with iron lungs or the measels epidemics that killed and maimed thousands or the mumps epidemics or the whoopi cough outbreaks. Made up stories about what is in vaccines do not help. Lack of knowledge that is your dilemma

this physician is not allowing parents to make an informed choice

Bosh. Every person receiving a vaccine or the parent of such person receives a page, front-and-back, detailing the operation and the known risks of the vaccine, along with information about what to do and whom to inform if the recipient has a negative reaction.

Dr. Whosis is mandated by law to distribute this form and receive written approval before administering a vaccine. Anyone who, after receiving this information, decides not to vaccinate himself or a child has the choice to go to another medical practice for care.

As I said above, who wants a doctor with a conflicting view of medicine?

“It doesn’t really scare me as much as other people, it’s just a shot,” he said.

Without the vaccine and getting measles, Chris has a 1 in 1000 chance of developing encephalitis. He has overall a 1 in 500 chance of dying. With a vaccination, he has a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of an adverse reaction.

As far as "aborted fetuses" goes, the vaccine does not contain DNA from aborted fetuses. The rubella virus is cultured in human cell lines. Some of these cell lines are cells that were cultured from tissues obtained from abortions in the 1960s. And you have no idea of the reasons for those abortions. They may have been for tubal pregnancies or some other similar medical emergency. At any rate, no new abortions are required to maintain these lines or to make the vaccines.

You may as well swear off the use of electricity because of all the people getting killed in coal mining. You're benefiting from their deaths. You could claim that it is immoral to benefit from the death of an innocent fetus. But it is also immoral to willfully put a child in greater danger of death and damage by diseases by refusing to have him immunized. Pro-choice? But that choice, just like in abortion, primarily puts him in danger, not you. A pretty expensive salve for your conscience.

The phisician is free to see whom he wants. There is NO requirement that he treat according to your view point. If you disagree with your doc get a new one. There is not yet a government mandate that medicine be practised a specific way.

Your scientific and historical ignorance is astonishing but no longer surprising. you probably buy the idea that there is mercury in vassinces too

I don’t have a problem with standard vaccines as it goes.

I do think we do not use much vigilance in demanding to know what else is in the vaccines and how could it or multiple shots of it, adversely affect kids.

We have a very corrupt government who doesn’t really deal in good faith anymore.

Anything they mandate is very suspect.

If we don’t look out for ourselves, nobody else will.

Um, Dr. A-hole can keep his poison to himself. These vaccines are contaminated with God knows what in addition to containing DNA from aborted fetuses. I think parents DO have the absolute right to refuse that crap.

We're being overrun by the illiterate and unscientific again on the matter of vaccination.

Thank you.

The ignorance here with regard to vaccines is incredible and dangerous.

Very few folks suffer side effects.

Its a control thing.

I think that's the crux of it. There is always going to be someone, or some entity, that wants to force you either to put things into your body that you don't want there, or prevent you from putting things into your body that you do want there.

For my part, I avoid vaccination wherever my own cost/benefit analysis tells me. I don't have any fears of being poisoned by a vaccine per se but I am very concerned about the unseen consequences of having my immunity diverted and being subject to an opportunistic infection or other disease process that my immune system would ordinarily have fought off on its own.

We have medical organizations and drug companies now suggesting that we be vaccinated for every condition under the sun. They push these vaccinations on an unwary public, and use social and economic leverage wherever possible to induce people to submit to having their bodies filled with all kinds of substances, the long-term effects of which may not be fully known.

My daughter also had measles. I think the fact that she was vaccinated helped her. It was mild case.

I do trust the older vaccines - the basics - but anything new gives me pause. All medications have side effects and there is a risk/benefit analysis that needs to be done.

It is much better to vaccinate your kid than risk polio. However the anthrax tests they’re thinking about doing on kids now is probably not. Risk/benefit.

I was able to prevent then from getting the HEP-B until they were older and the vaccine could establish a good track record.

I’d probably even hold back on a general cancer vaccine if they ever develop one. (I guess they did with Gardasil.) As my kids’ pediatrician said, it takes ten years in the general population before the real side effects are known and recognized. Just hold back for a few years and watch before jumping on the bandwagon. (He said that this applied to ALL medications, including vaccinations. This was the advice given when I asked him for the Chicken Pox vaccine for my kids right after it came out.)

"Keep your un-vaccinated self and un-vaccinated child away from my family."

Thank you for vaccinating your family to protect society from the diptherea, cholera, polio, etc. raging through our nation.

Cuz that's what the vaccinations are for, to protect others from the little disease vectors, ...in mommie's arm; down at the local open air grocery market; next to the open-air garbage pits and sewers harboring all those 19th century epidemic diseases ...most of which only exist in textbooks nowadays.

Do the math:

Probabability of contracting dipthera, cholera, polio, smallpox, etc.: ~ <0.001%.

Probability of SIDS, brain damage, damaged immune system, ADHD, etc. ~ >5%.

Some people think that vaccines never cause any harm, some people think they’re the devil incarnate; probably the truth is somewhere in the middle. Just as all medications don’t work for all people and can actually cause damage, some people have horrible reactions to vaccines. To think that everyone responds the same to every foreign thing that is introduced to their body is illogical.

If you think there’s nothing wrong with vaccines then by all means, get vaccinated and keep up to date with boosters and you shouldn’t have anything to worry about from the people who choose not to get vaccinated.

I don’t have a problem with all vaccines, but the ever increasing number of them is troublesome. I also find the combining of different vaccines troublesome. Studies are done on the individual vaccines, but none on the combo shots. Hep B for a baby? Makes no sense. Pertussis for a baby? Probably makes sense, but wears off after approx. 5 years. So go get revaccinated, if you’re afraid of your 5 year old coming down with Whooping Cough, even though by then if they’re generally healthy their immune systems are strong enough to fight the bacteria.

In this case, go find a doctor that will listen to your concerns about vaccines and work with you to come up with a reasonable alternative.

Hey medical and mathematical genius! You just proved my point! Vaccines are the REASON why the probability of contracting those diseases are so low! Stop vaccinating and watch those diseases come back with a vengeance.

I really used to believe the intellect on this forum was of a higher caliber than DU but these days I’m not so sure...

Here’s the key:

Don’t get a bunch of vaccines at once, spread them out over a period of time.

There are still instances where you have Guillain-Barre reactions however they are rare.

I’ve dealt with all the above.

“And in a doctor’s office, where there may be patients with compromised immune systems”

If your doctor’s office is full of a bunch of sick patients with ‘compromised immune systems’ I highly recommend getting another doctor.

I agree, but spreading them out is not what the CDC protocol is, and therefore this doctor would probably consider you unvaccinated and “fire” you. For example, the CDC chart shows a 2 month old getting 8 vaccines at one appointmemt; Hep B, RV, DTap, Hib, PCV & IPV. DTaP is a combo that covers 3 diseases.
