How can anyone be unalterably opposed to amnesty, but totally support open immigration?

This professional politician is too stupid to be dogcatcher, never mind president.

Every other nation on the planet somehow enforces their immigration laws except, of course, the most powerful. Somehow we can't.

What some people will believe.

Is "nativist" the new "in" word for anti-illegal-immigration now?

That only works when addressing schoolchildren.

“I believe that the only way to get a handle on the problem will be a bit draconian simply because we have allowed the problem of illegals to get so large.”

No doubt, anyone that does what has to be done better have extra large asbestos underwear.

My views on how to handle illegal immigration is in direct opposition to Gov. Perry. But, he is not a stupid man.

And while I may snark a bit in regards to his views, I believe he has been an excellent Governor for Texas, and would make a fine President.

I’ll tell you. If they’re controlled and NOT ALLOWED under any circumstances to get free benefits, then this is better than outright amnesty. Regardless, any person who was at one time and illegal should NOT be allowed to gain citizenship, period.

The thing is, we can enforce the laws, but our government chooses not to for the sake of votes.

Many of our illegals are on the public dole and the majority are uneducated - that is the sort of voter our corrupt government can control.

“The Forbes article, headlined “Cain Says Perry Camp Behind Sex Harassment Leak,” quoted the candidate as saying that he told former staffer Curt Anderson, now a consultant for the Perry campaign, about the allegations. But Cain is not quoted specifically accusing Anderson of being the leak.

The Cain campaign quickly seized on the article Wednesday night, seemingly validating Forbes’ reporting that Cain was laying blame at Perry’s feet.”

The Candidate? Cain is NOT “the Candidate”

OOPs Cain just keeps sawing that branch he’s sitting on.

This is not going to end good for Cain. He can’t keep his mouth shut.

Correct, its a matter of our politicians and leaders lacking the will. Most of us have it, they clearly do not. Thats what p*sses me off so much about their rhetoric - its basically dishonest.

I’d almost say treasonous.

How is letting illegal aliens run rampant protecting this country?

Your sexist comment is pathetic. Worse, your claim that Cain wants to electrocute the illegals. It is not his plan. He rattled it off as one option (shoot from the hip) when asked. Then, backed down and claimed it was a joke.

So, NO your candidate’s plan is not to kill the illegals.

The one thing I like best about Herman is his statement that "America needs to get a sense of humor".

Don't Indians understand a joke?

When minor children are involved - I have no idea what we could do to correct this crisis.

The biggest long term red herring in the entire debate.

If family cohesion is paramount, the minor children can travel with the parents. To Mexico, or wherever they came from.

It's not rocket science.

If the illegal aliens decide to leave their minor children with family who are legal residents, it's their decision, until the anchor baby issue is resolved.

“I disagree with the concept that somehow or another we’re going to pack up 10, to 12, to 15 million people and ship them back to the country of origin. That’s not going to happen,” Perry said.

That's cool.
Vote for you?
That's not going to happen.

Your (Perry's) view is demonstrably BS.

During the 1950s, however, this "Good Old Boy" system changed under Eisenhower - if only for about 10 years.

In 1954, Ike appointed retired Gen. Joseph "Jumpin' Joe" Swing, a former West Point classmate and veteran of the 101st Airborne, as the new INS commissioner.

Influential politicians, including Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson (D) of Texas and Sen. Pat McCarran (D) of Nevada, favored open borders, and were dead set against strong border enforcement, Brownell said. But General Swing's close connections to the president shielded him - and the Border Patrol - from meddling by powerful political and corporate interests.

One of Swing's first decisive acts was to transfer certain entrenched immigration officials out of the border area to other regions of the country where their political connections with people such as Senator Johnson would have no effect.

Then on June 17, 1954, what was called "Operation Wetback" began. Because political resistance was lower in California and Arizona, the roundup of aliens began there. Some 750 agents swept northward through agricultural areas with a goal of 1,000 apprehensions a day.
By the end of July, over 50,000 aliens were caught in the two states. Another 488,000, fearing arrest, had fled the country.

By mid-July, the crackdown extended northward into Utah, Nevada, and Idaho, and eastward to Texas.

By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 illegals had left the Lone Star State voluntarily.

Now, to me, that's in the neighborhood of 1,200,000 in three months.
By my cyphering, we can get rid of the mere 6,000,000 claimed by the doofuses --- in about 12 months!

Of course, not if we keep buying into the mindless "It's impossible!", "Can't be done!" --- and never try.
Isn't that called a self-fulfilling prophecy in the universe of the real?

He wants them OUT in the open. Many will return home when the laws are enforced. Many will have to get in line. But we'll know who they are.

It takes monumental ignorance and cluelessness to assume that being "out in the open" will reduce the drain on the welfare, national health care and educational systems.

How that would prompt them to "return home" evades me entirely.

There are millions of solid East and West Europeans who would love to immigrate here but are frozen out because our immigration policy extremely tilts to the 3rd world. How any white South Africans would love to move here

Reverse the the 1965 Immigration Act and to European only and see how it goes. We’ve had enough Asian, Africa, Muslim and Latino immigration to tide us over for a few decades. Most of them have dubious loyalty to America.

The biggest current national problems are spending, the national debt and illegal alien welfare.

If you can't see the linkage among them, I can't help you.

As for your opinion, I disagree completely.
He would make a "fine president" in the same sense that Hussein has.

How do we do that in the current politically correct climate? How do our leaders do that when 40% of the electorate is brown or black and race baiters turn the argument against our candidates? Serious question. I’m touching the 3rd rail of race politics with just this post, I’m sure. How are you going to translate that into policy?
