WASHINGTON, D.C. -- "What the [bleep] is Politico doing?" said the man on the phone. "And how the [bleep] are they getting away with this [bleep]?" Reporters rival sailors for their proficiency in profanity, and one of the most experienced political journalists in Washington was cussing a blue streak Thursday evening as he railed against the shoddiness of Politico's reporting on the Herman Cain "scandal."

They JUST lost.
Man the lifeboats, full damage control mode for the libs.
Ping! Rush Limbaugh is hot on this right at this moment (12:45 p.m. Eastern)
Wow, they had just begun prefacing Cain’s name with “embattled”.
Do we have any indication Cain as president would prosecute any of the criminals in Hussein’s administration?
Would he fire ALL the Democrat appointees and traitors?
No, that would be up to his Attorney General, Joe Arpaio to do.
“Block said someone had e-mailed him the code of ethics of the Society of Professional Journalists. “I haven’t had a chance yet to forward it to the reporter and the editor at Politico, but if they lived up to the code of ethics, they both should resign,” the pack-a-day campaign wizard said.”
WTF!?!?!?!? is right. There’s a code of ethics for journalists????? Who’d a thunk it?
Rush just announced another new scandal has just bubbled up in the sewer.
Trump has has shown the way already...sue Politico for muti-million dollar law suit for publishing un-substantiated rumors and attempt to defame character. Where does Cain go to get his reputation back?
He may have been joking, (tongue in cheek, as a lead in to a parody) OR they (the libs) are bubbling this crap stuff up bit by bit on purpose, as a form of psy war. They call it the death of a thousand cuts, thing is, though, it is not working.
Must be this:
Herman Cain hit with campaign-finance complaint
I am concerned with Cain’s response, he did seem to flay about and accusing Perry with nothing to support it. Yes he isn’t a regular politician, and that’s part of his appeal and does explain a less refined response.
Ok, but this is my concern. The media will be after him his entire presidency. The Demoncrats in Congress will be after him the entire time. He has to be able to respond forcefully and quickly. We can’t have another Bush response team.
Now his team can learn to better handle onslaughts, but they do have to recognize that there has to be a quicker, stronger response.
Im dissappointed in Megyan Kelly, she is all over the Cain is done mantra. Fox News is pretty much become crap News.
This isn’t new. They lost on the other thing, now this,
This is what Rachel Maddows deal.
Shame on her. She is intelligent, easy on the eyes, but to hear that, I will shut her off (on Fox) whenever she comes on. To h with her then.
The single biggest upshot may be that it got Cain protracted and unmitigatedly positive coverage on Rush. Prior to all this, Rush’s primary focus seemed to be clarifying that just because Cain was advertising on his show didn’t mean he had endorsed Cain. Since the scandal broke, Rush has been batting hard for Cain, if only to show how trashy and duplicitous the MSM has been. It’s been a net plus all the way around for Cain.
Yeah, I thought I saw this about a week ago, but this article is dated Nov. 4th.
Waiting on Rush to explain......
That’s a darn good analogy you used.
What’s sad is the number of Freepers jumping on this narrative as well.
Nobody worse than Dana “Hello Kitty” PerRINO. Roves gal.
She trashed Cain too.
Does Dana know at all what a crappy Press Secretary she was?
Bravo Rush!!! Shame on the Republicans who jumped all over this not knowing the facts. shame on you!!!!
There's one for trial layers too, and it's treated with about the same degree of reverence.
LOL...I got the feeling Rush might have been lurking here too!
There are a whole lot of Freepers here who should have their tail between their legs.
These ploys are indeed working!!!
My wallet is now open to Herman Cain...
They should now hang their heads in shame, and offer public apologies here on FREE REPUBLIC for treating Herman Cain this way. I have never seen anything like it. Horrid.
Love the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
Rush is disgusted clearly by the whole behavior of those types within the GOP, and he gave as close of an endorsement of Herman Cain (outside of an actual endorsement) I think I have ever heard. Called Cain a man of great courage who does not flinch when things go terribly bad.
Yesterday I would have agreed. Today I see that the issue has changed and the journalists are attacking each other rather than attacking Cain. I'm not sure if Cain's folks managed this turnaround on purpose but the way its playing out is interesting. The conservative reporters, rather than being sucked into joining the liberal chorus, have turned their guns on their liberal cohorts.
At this moment, based on the polls and based on the press attacking each other, I would make Cain the winner.
I really hope the republicans realize people like me have had enough of their $hit.
Nominate anyone BUT Cain, and I’m keeping my happy a$$ home on election day. I’d rather have it out with the statists than suffer more of the status quo with their unending political betrayals.
Rush already warned them: nominate Romney and THEY risk becoming a “third party.”
Thankfully a whole lot of people saw this for the sleaze attack it was.
Looks like Cain handled it just right after all!
Game, set, match. I can’t wait until they retrace this to David Axelrod.
—...but because he defended himself so poorly, I guess after all he should not be President.” —
Interestingly, that is pretty much exactly what Michael Medved was saying yesterday.
Politico falling apart, ping.
Unbelievable! This will backfire too. What is the punishment? His campaign gets fined?
Fine, we’ll end him more money. This is just more proof that he is really an outsider. The fact that he doesn’t know how to game the system like the others gives me hope.
—He has to be able to respond forcefully and quickly.—
He did. That is why I, personally, really liked Cain’s response to this. But that’s just me.
Because that is the LIBERAL DEMOCRAT-REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT (RINO) alliance made in hell NARRATIVE. That’s why Medved said it.
I caught that yesterday. I think they are jumping the shark.
You just getting that now? They have an agenda just like any of the other outlets. I have tuned them out until the general election begins.
No one doubts the media are meanies. No one doubts that this is a smear job, nor doubts that such a story would result in a free for all causing finger pointing between the various campaigns all around, incuding at the White House, as to whom could be the source of the story that Cain endured two harrassment accusations.
Conservatives, finally, now have the muscle, and the where with all, and the resolve, to turn their own powerful guns on the media for all their historically unchallenged muck raking and political hatchet jobs over the years, and their deadly shaping of loose facts, barely facts and no facts. Now conservatives can make the media a part of the story.
This is a good thing.
So, does this mean that a conservative is now politcally incorrect to read and repeat what have been reported as eye witness accounts to Cain’s past behaviors? I accept that the media are meanies. I didn’t like it when they tried to associate Rick Perry with the signage on the rock, when what his family actually did was try to deface the signage, and when that paint-over faded they turned the dang thing over. Cain was no help. He uses it to jump the gun and appear on two Sunday shows to label the affair as
“insensitive”. This remark was irritating. Cain was so eager he to appear with the finger point against Rick he didn’t yet know of the efforts Perry made to get rid of the signage.
Now comes Cain, again, out of the gate pointing fingers back, at the Perry campaign, over the exposure of the two accusations against himself, while cheerfully, again, free-passing the ties the Romney campaign had with the National Restaurant Association, and also free-passing the White House’s own ability to expose the so-called
“settlements” with the NRA.
This is why Perry supporters have more than a passing interest in what’s up with this guy, why the heck is it that the rag Cain has is ALWAYS Perry and NEVER Romney. Yes, the media are meanies. What pray tell is Cain’s obsession with only Rick Perry? Rick is not leading in the polls against Cain. Is it politically incorrect to notice that for the first several hours of this breaking story that it was Romney under suspicion? Romney was known to have the ability to leak this and with some connections of his own to the NRA? What did you hear from Cain against Romney? Crickits. Whadaya EVER hear from Cain against Romney?
This begins to sound like the dialog for one of those YouTube "Hitler Downfall" parodies.
I don’t even have TV but I noticed, several months ago, that both Fox and Michael Medved seemed to be attacking any candidate that was “populist”. First perry and now Cain.
My Romneybot radar is getting a hit on a couple of possible stealth targets.
A lady just called into Rush and started talking about Larry Sinclair.
He cell phone went dead, so Rush kept mentioning his name over and over. LOLOL!
LOL!! OH MY GOSH. It will be done for SURE NOW!!
Herman Cain is the “honey badger” of the Republican Party!
A week ago Medved was saying that although Cain was ahead nationally, Romney was ahead in the first four primaries and had the machine to win - and that Cain was, though popular, not really a contender. Then Cain is tied and even ahead of Romney in those very same states, then this breaks, and Medved is down on Cain’s response.
Medved is a big loser in this thing. His base listeners are not amused.
