The White House Friday rejected a subpoena issued by the House of Representatives' Energy and Commerce Committee to produce internal communications and other documents related to now-bankrupt solar panel maker Solyndra's $535 million loan guarantee.
In a letter to the Republican leaders of the committee, White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler called the subpoena a partisan "vast fishing expedition" without legal justification.
"The committee's extremely broad request for documents -- now a subpoena -- is a significant intrusion on Executive Branch interests, particularly given that you have not made any effort to tailor the request to the legitimate interests of the committee," Ruemmler wrote.
"Moreover, responding to such an expansive request would require the devotion of substantial resources to gather and review many documents that are of no legitimate oversight interest," she continued.
Aides to the committee's Republicans could not immediately be reached for comment, and it is unclear what their next move would be.

Can’t exactly say that this surprises me any.
My suspicion is that they’re just buying valuable time to shred, dispose of, erase all damning evidence, then just when the cuffs come out they’ll deliver 2500 pages of documents, most of that blank paper (a Clinton trick, I think).
And nothing of substance will come of it.
Well, what happens now?
Nothing. No enforcement.
We keep hearing about those “rich millionaires” that should not be allowed to keep their money. This one fiasco pooped off the entire income from 545 folks who earned one million each when it was given it to this company to fritter off. Sadly this sort of thing is repeated over and over.

Maybe legally but all this flim-flam jive is piling up. Lack of transparency is a real campaign issue likely to get barry all wee weed up in a debate. White House logs, meeting lobbyists at starbucks, campaign donations, Executive Privilege, etc. The list just goes on and on with the arrogant kenyan. Payback is coming!
You know, I’m beginning to wonder if this scandal is much bigger than I thought. Unless this is just more of the arrogance Obama is known for, why do this? What could they be hiding?

The only “intrusion on Executive Interests” they are concerned about is further inability to hide criminal wrongdoing! This is of concern to ALL citizens - not just Dems or Reps.
I honestly can’t believe they are pulling this crap. Makes them look even more guilty, IMO.
I guess the smartest people in the world do not know that the Supremes settled this in 73.
