Users of medical marijuana have been exempted from a smoking ban that Sebastopol has imposed on apartment dwellers.
The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved an amendment to its July anti-smoking ordinance that removes medical marijuana from the definition of smoking.
The anti-smoking ordinance, aimed at second-hand smoke, requires apartment owners to write no-smoking restrictions into all new leases and imposes a smoking ban on other renters within 14 months.
A similar ban for apartment dwellers has been enacted by Sonoma County supervisors and proposed for Santa Rosa.
Sebastopol already prohibits smoking in work places, bars and restaurants, retail stores and in public areas such as parks.

Yep, the whole complex will now be engulfed with weed smoke,

But they are doing this only to serve their fragile coalition of liberal support.
The environmentalists despise unionized heavy manufacturing, so the liberals try to balance interests between the two groups.
Here you have the anti-smoking Nazis being balanced against the hippie dope smokers.
The bizarre thing is that it has actually been shown that the tars in marijuana smoke are much more harmful than those in cigarette smoke. As a teenager, I had a friend who smoked so much dope that she couldn’t even walk up a flight of stairs without wheezing.
I bet their restaurant business is booming.
Did we really need a study to tell us that inhaling the smoke from burning leaves is more hazardous than inhaling the smoke form burning leaves through a filter?
I always feel safer driving in Sebastopol as it is a self-declared “Nuclear-Free Zone.”
