Washington protesters hit by car, no visible injuries: police (ticketed for obstructing traffic)

(Reuters) - Three activists protesting economic inequality were struck by a car and mildly injured late on Friday night as they attempted to block traffic near a gathering of conservatives in the nation's capital, police said on Saturday.

The protesters, who were transported to area hospitals with no signs of visible injury, were cited for obstructing traffic late on Friday night, said Araz Alali, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department.

"The driver saw he had the green light and the protesters then basically jumped in front of the vehicle to block traffic," Alali said. "It appears that the protesters jumped into the path of the vehicle."

Angry protesters circled the vehicle after it struck the protesters, police said. The driver was not cited.

The incident occurred on Friday as hundreds of protesters affiliated with the "Occupy DC" movement gathered near a convention center in Washington, D.C. where the conservative "Defending the American Dream Summit" was being held.

The jute box reminds me of a story about a Citicorp gathering we had at a bar. I put $5 into it, played my songs. They finally came on.

I noticed they were being “skipped”. At first I said WTF and looked over at the jute box. A bunch of black girls (mostly who were friends of the old Citicorp gang) were standing around it and I noticed one with her hand underneath the box.

I asked the bartender what was going on. I put my hard earned money into it and all my songs were being deleted and asked why she was doing that. She informed me there was a button under the box that fast forwarded to the next song.

I was SO pissed. I walked over and started to scream at them and told them they owed me $5 for skipping my songs. Of course it got out of hand and the bouncers came over. I told them what they were doing and I wanted my $5 back.

The bouncers kicked them out and the bar tried to give me my $5 to replay my songs. I refused their money because it was not they who had done it.

I just went and put in another $5 and played my songs.

Sometimes I hate people.

Why the guy was with a bunch of illegals I don’t know, he was a pasty white guy with red hair and freckles.

The guy really was a big guy. At one time he wanted to be a body builder, he pumped a lot of iron and he was strong.

On the job he could sling some iron around.

I know exactly what you are talking about with the “protected classes” and an attitude of “we can do whatever we want and no one can stop us”. Most places don’t stop it.

I still don't care for people throwing themselves in front of my car, like I've had happen. If they want to commit suicide, they should choose another method.
