Ex-Penn State Coach Sandusky Arrested on Sex Charges
Wall Street Journal ^ | November 5, 2011 | Darren Everson

A former Penn State defensive coordinator was accused Saturday of sexually abusing eight boys in a case that has rocked the Big Ten university.

Jerry Sandusky, 67 years old, was arrested Saturday and released on $100,000 bail after being arraigned on 40 criminal counts, the state attorney general's office said.

In addition, Penn State athletic director Tim Curley, 57, and Gary Schultz, 62, the school's vice president for finance and business, have been charged with perjury and failing to report what they knew about the allegations. Mr. Schultz's position includes oversight of the university's police department. They were expected to turn themselves in Monday in Harrisburg.

Mr. Sandusky had long been considered the heir apparent to Joe Paterno, the legendary Penn State coach who has the most victories in major-college football history. Mr. Paterno, 84, wasn't charged, authorities said, and the grand jury report didn't appear to implicate him in wrongdoing. When Mr. Paterno first learned of one report of abuse he immediately reported it to Mr. Curley, prosecutors said. Mr. Sandusky was no longer coaching at the time and it isn't clear whether Mr. Paterno followed up with Mr. Curley.

Mr. Sandusky retired in 1999 but continued to work with at-risk children through the nonprofit Second Mile organization he founded in 1977. He was charged with multiple counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child, indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor, as well as single counts of aggravated indecent assault and attempted indecent assault.

Seems to me Paterno could have done a lot more to stop this, even if he did report it.

I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall at those Paterno-Curley-Shultz-Spanier various meetings talking about how to make this go away ...

Being an ex coach at PS he had free run of the campus.

He actually had free run of a high school too, where he was an unpaid assistant coach.

Several of the sexual attacks occurred there.

This wouldn’t happen if football coaches were allowed to marry.

grooming and recruiting is an important part of the homosexuality movement. NAMBLA was part of the homo rights movement from the start.

The problem here is celibacy. If Penn State would only allow its football coaches to marry, this problem would vanish.

Do I hear an "Amen"!!?

Apparently President Spanier has an interesting academic background, too.

“Spanier was also an author of a study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior concerning the practice of mate swapping, or “swinging”.[4]” from his wikipedia page.

I just want to know how the hell Sandusky didn’t get his skull cracked open by the graduate-assistant who witnessed him anally raping that young boy.

Hmm.. kid is getting anally raped by Coach... do I intervene or notify my superior?

I’d like to punch the witness in the face for running away instead of putting himself at risk to save that kid.

As the brother of a Penn State alumnis, I agree 100 percent with both of you. Yep my brother and sister in law went to Penn State for Bachelor and Master’s Degrees. They graduated back in 1995 well before this but does not make it easier for anyone.

You will find that “Swingers” and “Nudist” colonies go hand in hand, nudist colonies where they make it a point to bring the kids.

Grooming and recruiting has many variations.

Yes. Chastity Bono was “recruited” at 11 by her nanny. Cher thought it was wonderful. The female version of NAMBLA is called “Butterfly Kisses”.

Not a coincidence that the NEA, Planned Parenthood and the public schools have picked 11 as the age to encourage kids to get into sex.(see recent stories about NYC schools)

I’ve seen how the news outlets are apalled and shocked they are about the prospect (hasn’t been proven yet) of such doings, as well they should.

But why does NAMBLA continually get a pass? Where’s the media shock and ‘concerned mothers’ outrage there?
