Politico's Martin Still Can't Explain Exactly What Herman Cain Did
RealClearPolitics ^ | November 6, 2011

(VIDEO AT LINK)

In an interview with Howard Kurtz on CNN, Politico's Jonathan Martin still can't explain what exactly it is that Herman Cain reportedly did to the women who received payouts from the National Restaurant Association. Mr. Martin's main argument is because the story hasn't been fully challenged, it must be true. Here's a partial transcript of the back-and-forth between Martin and Kurtz.

Howard Kurtz, CNN: "Jonathan Martin, let's talk about the first story last Sunday, you and three colleagues reported this and what it didn't contain in the way of details. Here's the language from the story. Sexually suggestive behavior that made the women angry and uncomfortable, descriptions of physical gestures, not always overtly sexual, innuendo, and in one case, an unwanted sexual advance at a hotel."

"Why publish the story then when you couldn't answer the essential question: What precisely is Herman Cain alleged to have done to these women?"

Jonathan Martin, Politico: "Howie, I think any journalist would find the, uh -- a report of two women got a five figure, each, cash payout after alleged sexual harassment against a CEO of a trade group that is now a major contender for president, newsworthy. And that's the story we had, and that's what we published."

I haven’t seen one person bring up the racism from the left.

Cain is smarter than Obama. He’s more dynamic. He has a record of success as a businessman. People are getting tired of egghead academics trying to rule the world.

What are they going to do to get rid of Cain?
With Obama’s opponent in Illinois - they had divorce records unsealed.
With Palin - they tried to plant an affair/upcoming divorce scandal.

They are trying to paint Cain as the black sexual predator = much in the way the KKK used to do to instill fear in people.

If he said or did something, why can't they say what it was? As far as I'm concerned, any confidentiality agreement was breached when the whole thing was brought up.

I haven't heard any details of anything he said or did to anyone not bound by such an agreement, either.

People lie and twist things. People also get offended by a great many things which seem strange or downright silly to others. I knew a couple of females from the upper midwest (well, I'd call them "Yankees") who were offended by a waiter in a restaurant here in Texas because he asked "What will you girls have to drink this evening?"

They failed to understand that's Texan for "Can I bring you two old bags something from the bar?"

Bless their hearts. (That's Southern for "They can't help being stupid, they're not only Yankees but they're liberal as well.")

One of the problems I have with this is something I read here yesterday. These “complaints” were filed and the money was paid out AFTER Cain had already left the NRA. Something doesn’t smell right to me.

Cain is being “Klined.” Recall how Phil Kline, former Kansas attorney general, went after Planned Parenthood, having uncovered evidence of PP’s aiding and abetting statutory rape of girls in Kansas. PP destroyed him, with the full cooperation of the Kansas media outlets.

Cain has discussed on national television Planned Parenthood’s racist roots, including its eugenics based plan to reduce the size of the Black community — correctly referring to PP as “Planned Genocide.” PP, again with the cooperation of the far-left, anti-life mainstream media, will be relentless at working to destroy Cain for that.

It is up to the American people whether they are allowed to succeed at that. Fortunately, more and more Americans stop taking MSM propaganda seriously all the time. Although Cain is absolutely right when he says, “Stupid people are ruining America,” I think there may be hope that the clueless will one day be a minority (consisting in large part, no doubt, of MSM journalists and their families and friends.)

That is just unbelievable, on a conservative website. The supporters of Cain’s rivals will go to any extreme to besmirch Cain. It must frustrate and infuriate them that it’s not working.

Whatzisname, Joel Bennett .. makes you wonder if he wasn’t the original source of the leak, based on his sketchy recollection of events 12 years ago, His memory was ‘refreshed’ when he got the NRA to give him a copy of the agreement.

The media found Bennett pretty damned fast, and seem to know who his client is, too, even tho unlike the accused, her identity is being protected. There’s a very good reason our laws require the accuser to face the accused in court. But, oh, no, not in ‘journalism.’

Bennett’s first public comments were about Cain’s possibly breaching a confidentiality agreement that he wasn’t even party to (a fact Bennett seemed to have forgotten), yet I wonder if it isn’t Bennett who violated some lawyer’s ethics rules. (yes, there really is a code of ‘ethics’ for lawyers)

I have a gesture I could give Mr. Martin. In fact, since I have two hands, I could give it to him twice.

What are they going to do to get rid of Cain?

THAT my dear lady, is the most frightening question of all.

We are dealing with absolute corruption and wickedness in high places, an illegitimate regime that is lawless and answers to nobody, ignores subpoenas, stonewalls the courts, engages in illegal wars, you name it, and they are violating it.

It would not surprise me one bit if the 0bamunists were silently searching for a latter day James Earl Ray, and I pray to God that Herman Cain has excellent security.

Am I suggesting that the 0bama regime is capable of murdering a candidate for political office?

You better damn well believe I'm suggesting it, because they've already knocked off an American citizen overseas without due process, and terrorist or not: that established a dangerous precedent, i.e., "who will be the so-called 'terrorists' of tomorrow?

Everyone look in the mirror, because it just might be US.

I speculate as well that Bennett was the original leak of this story. THE FIRST POLITICO ARTICLE SAYS POLITICO WAS SHOWN DOCUMENTS.

For me, that points to Bennett.

However, since the details of the allegations don’t say much and Bennett knows that, Bennett was looking for one or both of these outcomes:

1. If the NRA doesn’t lift the confidentiality agreement, then the story continues where everyone can accuse the NRA of protecting Cain of doing something really bad.

2. If or when NRA lifts the confidentiality agreement, pack it in and go home because it’s better then to leave it to everyone’s imagination as to what the allegations were.

Oh, the NRA DID release Bennett’s client from the confidentiality of her agreement with them. That was part of their Friday release. Bennett clammed up!

You are so right!!! Jonathan Martin is either a nervous nellie or he has a real problem, needing professional medical care. I have watched two live interviews with him this past week and noted the following. He blinks his eyes non-stop, faster then a NYC minute. His eyes bulge out of their sockets like you see in a disturbed person. He cannot string his spoken sentances to understandable meaning, indicating he is extremely nervous. And....he regularly contorts his facial features, like a person in severe stress!!!! One wonders what’s cooking inside???

Wonder why Politico didn’t investigate this??

Bottom Line
Is there any truth to the rumor about Barack Obama and Vera Baker having an affair?

I think it’s significant that NONE of the major news outlets (The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, CNN, Fox News, ABC, NBC, etc) have chosen to even dignify this rumor by reporting on it.

I happened to catch the show this morning. I thought that the Politico guy was trying to back off..also, Kathleen Parker did a good job defending Cain, and knocking Politico. Kurtz did a decent job..I was surprised..
