YEP. Those familiar with the Duke Lacrosse Hoax will remember prime hoax apologist Gloria Allred - a sure-fire “alternative view” on any element of the hoax that turned out to be favorable for the defense team.
She does not win every case, that’s for sure.
But when an opportunity presents itself to go on TV, you can bet your bottom dollar, she’ll show her mug.
And for those who want to know more about Gloria Allred’s checkered past, she injected herself into the star Christian Quarterback Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad controversy. (For those who’ve missed it, Tim and his mother apparently describe in the ad her decision to carry Tim to term when her health was threatened by an illness as she served as a missionary in the Philippines.)
I serve this up, not to get into the abortion controversy, but to reintroduce folks to the tortured logic that this “feminist legal scholar” continues to produce.
Her letter to CBS (alleging that Mrs. Tebow’s claim that she carried Tim to term against medical advice to the contrary was not credible, because abortion is illegal in the Philippines) urges the network to pull the spot as “false advertising.”
See, you’re doing the same drive-by attack on me as you do on Cain. You have no idea about me, what I think, what I believe. But because I don’t believe in political correctness, and call things as I see them, you paint me with a broad brush.
I have no issues with women. Yet I do see what you and most of your Perry co-horts on this forum have done for a month or more. You’ve not only attacked our candidate but us as well. We’ve been called liberals, socialists, and any other name in the book. Now I’m a misogynist because I accuse you of what you’ve been doing; harping on everything anti-Cain.
There are no bona fide accusations made against Cain to date. None, zada, zip. Yet you take what’s said on good faith because it suits your agenda. Like it or not, that’s harping, and harping being what you do, you’re all harpies. It has nothing to do with women, nothing to do with hatred. Everything to do with you, your actions, and telling you how you appear. If you don’t like it, I couldn’t care less. But I’ll not apologize to you or anyone else because I haven’t done anything wrong. Nor do I hold ill will. I guess maybe we’ve been reading different threads. I’ve been pretty disgusted by what I’ve seen.
I don’t know whether the claims against Cain were true and frankly I don’t care. I think the claims were probably fairly standard “harrassment” complaints which are often very subjective, and it doesn’t sound as if either of the women was interested in getting a huge settlement, filing a criminal or civil suit, or going any further with it. They only even suggested they wanted to tell their side of the story after they had been vilified by Cain’s supporters.
So I don’t know why they are being attacked so violently - unless people are afraid that there really is something behind the complaints.
And frankly, Cain’s credibility has in no way been helped by his evasions and his attempts to claim that it was all just a vast left-wing, anti-black conspiracy.
It has been very ugly. And I simply don’t understand the insane devotion to a personality. I thought conservatives were more mature than that, but I guess not.

Here are the possibilities:
1) If the accusations are true, then these women are NOT trailer trash and Cain ought to be condemened for what he did.
2) If these accusations are FALSE ( or even trumped up ), then why are these women not trailer trash?

Again, there is NO insane devotion to personality. There is however DEVOTION to the all American value of INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.
First, let’s see the evidence and how credible it is.
Without it, Herman Cain OUGHT TO be presumed innocent and it is NOT (repeat NOT) insane devotion to give him the benefit of the doubt.
How could he know a 4th one was out there when no complaint was ever filed?

Before we have all the information, there is no call to disparage these women. If she is disproved, there is of course no reason not to.
I never assume all women are lying about sexual harassment. I’ve seen women intimidated into NOT reporting it, as well as trumped up charges, and legitimate cases that have “been gotten rid of” with various levels of payments.
I’ll ask you. Have you, in your opinion, seen a level of misogyny on these particular threads?

You’ve mentioned the burger and pizza places several times, do you realize how much worse that would be? Most all workers at those places are underage teenagers?
My point is (and I thought it was pretty clear) is that all the charges are coming from the NRA years. That's peculiar to me because sex harassers have very long, varied careers. They just don't harass for 3 years and then knock it off.

I can’t answer that, I’ve not read every single post there is on this subject.
However, you can’t tar and feather every single FReeper out there. Posters on this site are not a homogeneous lot.
As for me, I can only speak for myself and what I believe in.
If these women have a case and believe it is serious, THEY OUGHT TO COME OUT AND PRESENT THEMSELVES.
At this point in time, Herman Cain is INNOCENT until there is guilt proven BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT. That is the American way.
I am in fact looking forward to the 1:30 Press conference just to see if there is anything to it.

Actually, I’m of the opinion that Cain supporters will go to Gingrich, who is my second choice and a very able candidate. I don’t see but a few going to Perry or Romney.
As have I. But from what I've seen it's come from the Perry camp. Like this statement of yours: "I don’t know whether the claims against Cain were true and frankly I don’t care."
If you don't care, then why are you on threads making statement like "These were not criminal complaints but employment claim settlements, and probably Cain could have taken the dignified way out and just acknowledged that they existed, apologized for any real or imagined impropriety, and then gone on to something else."?
Cain fought the complaint because it was fatuous. He wasn't party to the agreement because the NRA paid the woman off as part of a severance. What's hard to understand about that? Yet here we are, after all this has come out in support of Cain, and yet Perrybots are still on the attack.
I've been accused of Misogyny, I've been called an asshole, I've been derided because I'm fed up with Perry supporters who can't give an honest benefit of the doubt because they see an opportunity to bring down another Republican candidate. That's disgusting, that's divisive, that's collusion. And the fact they continue to do this after the facts have come out constitutes harping. And I make no apology for calling it what it is.
If you want to understand what's going on here, step back, take a deep breath, and take an honest assessment of what your cohorts have accomplished. Since his tanking in the polls, Perry supporters have pulled out the stops on attacking Herman Cain and his supporters. Enough is enough. I'll not apologize for what I've said to magritte. It was not misogynistic, but an accurate example of how Perry supporters have displayed themselves. Both men and women. It's how I see them now. And they're completely to blame for that opinion. They've earned it.
Don’t let these Perry creeps get to you. Remember that when Bachmann was at her highest point in the polls, the Perries were viciously attacking her as a woman. I remember that clearly and have not forgotten it.

Even though I don’t think he is presidential timbre, I wish we had someone like Cain to run against Claire McKassgillpuke here in MO. I think that the Senate would be right up his alley.
