Paterno should be fired by Penn State
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Nov. 7, 2011 | Scott Ostler

Posted on 11/07/2011 8:49:09 PM PST by Colofornian

Joe must go.

Joe Paterno must resign or be fired before Penn State's next game. Today would be good.

Remember the outrage over trinkets for tattoos, the scandal that rocked Ohio State earlier this season?

That coach is gone. Why is Joe Paterno still strapping on a whistle? And where was JoPa's whistle when defenseless young boys really needed it?

Paterno, his athletic director and the school's vice president all knew something horrible occurred involving former team assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, and they all let it slide. For a decade.

Why? The way it smells from here: The alleged predator was a beloved member of their beloved football program. Penn State's reputation would be dealt a horrible blow. Denial was the best option.

The silence allowed the alleged serial rapist of young boys to continue doing his bad stuff, right there at Penn State, for another nine-plus years. Sandusky had an office in the athletic building. In 2007 he brought a young boy to a Penn State football practice.

Paterno wants us to believe that an assistant coach came to him in 2002 and told of seeing unspecified "inappropriate conduct" (Paterno's words) between Sandusky and a young boy in the team's shower room.

Apparently Paterno did not ask the assistant, "Exactly what did you see?" What responsible person would not ask that question?

For not asking that question back in 2002, Paterno should be fired today...

Wow! This pedophile was still bringing young boys on campus in full view of all concerned (well, of all who should have been concerned) through at least 2007!

Shows you can have a winning football team and still flunk Basic Humanity 101!

Yup. Yesteryear would have been even better! (Perhaps more kids could have been saved from a serial rapist!)

JoePa failed to be a stand-in "Pa" for all of these victims!

On the other hand, who's going to do the "firing?" An immoral criminal A.D. who's turning himself into authorities for this same scandal?

I think the SF Chronicle may get some hate mail from the NAMBLA crowd....

If there is a shred of evidence he knew, then he should face charges.

Funny this is coming from a San Fransicko site where pedophilia is part of the culture.

The regents need to step in and clean house. Even the school President approved an agreement that allowed Sandusky to continue to use school facilities during the investigation. He was working out at the school as recently as last week.

I understand innocent until proven guilty, but if the charges are proven, everyone needs to be fired starting with JoPa and the school President.

I have a feeling this will go much deeper than the names we have so far. There nay be dozens of people who were aware of his behavior and did nothing.

Sandusky should hold on with appeals for a while until the culture makes “man-boy love” another state sanctioned and protected “lifestyle”.

He can hold a news conference in front of a sympathetic press declaring himself a “Homo-Pedo-American”.

Yes.

Anybody and everybody associated with the 21st century JoPa dynasty will go down in history with one of the most tainted nastiest do 'nothin's' immoral cowards and kiddie-rapist campus accessories in history!

The only thing worse in the history of the Big 10 was Indiana University enshrining Kinsey, who facilitated child rape as part of his legacy...and which the university still keeps under wraps (as much as possible)...

See:
* How Alfred C. Kinsey’s Sex Studies Have Harmed Women and Children [Big 10 harbors perp culture]
* The Children of Table 34 DVD

The Big 10 is the pedophile conference hands-down!

You’re right. A piece I read earlier opined that Paterno may end up being sacrificed and in the process, deflecting attention from those much higher up - including the president. After reading the indictment, it seems clear that Paterno knew the truth and failed to act.

I’d be glad to see President Spanier go for THIS scandal, and for ANOTHER cover-up. (JoePa isn’t too shiny anymore, either.) But ever since the brouhaha a year or so ago over cooking the climate data books and “hide the decline” between the “scientists at East Anglia university, Penn State and elsewhere, I have been P.Od at PSU for keeping that BS artist Thomas Mann, on the faculty. As far as I’m concerned, whatever gets Spanier’s butt out the door is fine with me. Of course, Mann will still be there, but maybe Spanier’s replacement will be an honest broker and send the fraud packing.

I hope he goes with a “born this way” defense. Let’s have this out now. That’s where it’s headed anyway.

Any one who knew and did not report it to the cops should be fired. Elitist men are too tolerant of homosexual pedophilla. They are too tolerant of banking scams, too. They are amoral.

"The totality of this merits one of the most disgusting scandals in sports history. For this, Paterno's legacy as a brilliant football mind means nothing -- absolutely nothing. His lack of judgment, as a human being in charge of representing so much for Penn State and the college football world, is pathetic. Paterno no longer deserves to go out on his own accord. He lost that freedom nearly a decade ago..." -- Jeff Howe, New England Sports Network

From:
Joe Paterno must be fired immediately for protecting Jerry Sandusky amid disgusting allegations...

Even columnists from the liberal left coast agree:
* Paterno should be fired by Penn State [San Francisco Chronicle]
* Joe Paterno should resign in wake of Penn State scandal: Commentary [LA Times]

LOL!! The San Fransicko Chronicle?
You would think that paper would be shrugging and wondering what’s the big deal about predatory homosexual pedophilia?

Of course he should be fired and then he should begin in earnest atoning for the sin of turning a blind eye to child rape before he meets St Peter at the Gates.

He knew, and he did report it, so legally, he’s fine.

But if you know molestation is going on, you move the heavens and the Earth to get it stopped, “I followed directions” doesn’t cut it.

(Yeah, you'd think...goes to show you how absolutely bad this is when even the liberal left gets provoked)

Amen. This is not something you tell the very few people who are above you and then forget about it. If you see nothing being done, you need to take action. Paterno clearly saw that nothing was being done, clearly saw that the guy was still around.
