Bill Clinton: Let presidents serve three terms

Three times could be a charm - but not for him.
Former president Bill Clinton said Tuesday that presidents should be able to run for a third term so long as they take off some time after their second term.
“I’ve always though that should be the rule,” he said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “I think as a practical matter, you couldn’t apply this to anyone who has already served, but going forward I personally believe that should be the rule.”
Clinton made the remark in the context of a question posed by Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough, who said that many wished that Clinton could run again.
“Shouldn’t a president be able to take two terms, take time off and run again? Shouldn’t Americans have that choice?” asked Scarborough. He cited former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who led his country during World War II and then again in the 1950s, as an example.
The two-term limit for the presidency is mandated by the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which was ratified after Franklin D. Roosevelt won four consecutive terms in the 1930s and 1940s.
Earlier in the morning, Clinton said that he does not spend time thinking about whether the country would be better off under the leadership of his wife, Hillary Clinton.

Well, I do agree that Clinton would want to run again. And IF he could go up against Barry, he, indeed, would win the Dem nom.
I don’t think the Reps running are a bad lot. I look at it like....at the very worst, we get Romney. AT THE WORST. And, I do believe he is a smart, decent guy. Who knows? He could really grow into a fantastic Pres....Reagan had some bumps before he “saw the light”.
That said...I would rather have a “real” Conservative. Who knows what will happen with Cain? I don’t count him out yet.
No. Sometimes I think two is too many. Maybe we need to amend the Constitution to allow a single six year term.
So Bubba's big on rules, huh? Except for that whole "I promise to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth" rule.
Repeal the two term amendment, but, allow a shall remain in office vote every two years.
Typical Clintonian logic - or lack thereof.

I think going to three 1 year terms or three 2 year terms would be a vast improvement.

Thank God the Presidency is term limited.
At the end of Clinton’s 2nd term we had a balanced budget.
Who ever thought I would wish for a return to Clinton.
But he was FORCED into that by Newt Gingrich, so that is why I would love to see a Cain/Gingrich ticket

Lately, I’m think a one-term limit would be better.
The United States was not designed to have an imperial president, but rather be a republic controlled by a messy, ugly, legislature.
Only because the federal government is too powerful, does the POTUS matter so much.
Why do we want a rapist, crook, liar and thief to serve a 3rd term Bill?

With that system the incumbent would be in campaign mode from day one.
We need to encourage less campaigning, not more.
Bill would actually be a vast improvement from Obama.
Imagine 12 years of klintoon! or 12 years of hitlery!!
Would be better to have POTUS for one term, maybe even 6 years. Or better one term for 4 years with the opening to run again after being out of office at least one term.
As it is now we have a working President for maybe 3 years and a year running for re-election (present Indo-kenyan socialist muslim excepted on all aspects).
Funny he did not seem to feel that way as George W’s expiration date was looming...
