I’d just prefer they offer this low tier of service to ANY subscriber who is ok with the slower speeds.

I didn't read the article but they're probably offering 7.68 Mbit DSL or 1 Mbit Cable broadband? My own DSL is $14.95/month from Frontier. Yeah, $9.95 would be better yet.

My DSL is 40 bucks a month for 256k limited to 10 gig a month.

Alaska rates, best deal around.
