Penn State Pres. Graham Spanier will quit or be fired today in wake of Sandusky charges, source says
Lehigh Valley Express Times ^ | Staff

Penn State University President Graham Spanier will either resign or be voted out by the end of today, a source close to the board of trustees told The Express-Times.

An interim president, most likely Executive Vice President and Provost Rodney A. Erickson, will be appointed and a nationwide search for a permanent replacement will begin, according to the source who requested anonymity.

Spanier was made aware in 2002 that a graduate assistant coach had seen former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky allegedly sexually assault a young boy in a shower in the Penn State locker room, according to grand jury testimony. Spanier did not involve police, according to testimony. Spanier has not been charged, but there have been many calls for his resignation.

Sandusky has been charged with 40 counts of sexually abusing children.

Two university administrators -- athletic director Tim Curley and Vice President Gary Schultz -- face charges related to a cover-up. Spanier, who was named president in 1995, in recent days has shown his support for the administrators.

Head coach Joe Paterno, the winningest coach in Division I history, announced this morning he will retire at the end of the season.

Spanier should do the right thing and fire Michael Mann while he is at it.

Spanier brought the era of homosexual tolerance to Penn State after he did the same at UNL. This is the radical homosexual agenda on display -— there is no such thing as pedophilia.

You got this right. As an alum his homosexual agenda at Nebraska was & continues to be why I will never contribute to that university again. Finally after some 6 calls they got the message. As far as Penn State the fish stinks from the head down & that place is decadent.

Spanier will probably retire with a mega public pension and benefits much of it paid for by taxpayers. He and others like him who live like kings on the public dole should lose their pensions when incompetency and potential criminality leads to public abuse or costs. We have too many of Spanier’s ilk running publicly (and private) funded institutions of higher education in America that will cover up crime on campus for the reputation and their football programs.

The AG will NOT say that Spanier is NOT a target.

She has said that Paterno is not a target.

To: Comparative Advantage

The board of regents for the University of Nebraska are in the process of approving the “Plus One” benefit which allows benefits for same sex partners. This is necessary in order to get the “Best Faculty” and be competitive with other Universities. (Gay is better than Straight?) While Spanier would approve, it it well beyond his watch.

Luke 10:25-37

King James Version (KJV)

” 25.And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26.He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27.And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28.And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29.But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30.And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31.And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32.And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33.But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34.And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35.And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36.Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37.And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the parable of “the Good Samaritan” seems a good fit here ...
Spanier gets Sandusky in and asks him if the sex with the boy was consensual. Sandusky says “yes” and the matter is closed.
That's a serious charge. I have not heard that reported. Do you have a source?
Spanier is a liberal, homosexual advocate.
Obama considered Spanier as his Secretary of Education in 2008.
Spanier advanced the LGBT agenda at UNL and at Penn State.
If you embrace the homosexual agenda to its fullest extent, you must embrace the concept that minors can give consent.
I think the roots of the Sandusky cover-up is an extreme tolerance for the homosexual agenda that was spearheaded by Spanier.
All well and good, but your post charges that Sandusky actually said those things and Spanier explicitly agreed.
I have not seen that reported anywhere.
Completely innocent no.
But I question where the “moral” responsibility ends. If I make a report to my supervisors based on a report from my subordinate, that I did not witness, as required by company policy, am I also “morally” expected to go outside of that policy and call the police? Before they can even investigate the report?
Why does the man who reported to Paterno get off free? Where did his moral responsibility end?
What about the parents? None of them knew or suspected anything? If any of them contacted PSU officials without a satisfactory response did they then follow up with a call to the PSP? Why not? Where is their moral responsibility.
Things were done wrong here and I don’t excuse Sandusky or the PSU administration, but expecting Paterno to personally pursue the man to the gates of hell and light the fire before he left is a slippery slope.
Did Paterno meet the letter of the law? Perhaps yes.
Did he meet the moral obligations expected of someone of his stature and tenure? The verdict is still out on that, but the facts of the case as known now indicate he did not.
The issue is that Joe saw NOTHING was done after he told Curley. He knew that rapist was still raping. What did he do. He kept quiet.
Why does the man who reported to Paterno get off free? Where did his moral responsibility end?
Most here totally agree that McQueary wimped out.
A mother went to the authorities in 1998. They got Sandusky cold. The DA wouldn't prosecute.
The mother that finally broke this even had her son's school officials urging her not to report it. Fortunately she did.
What did Joe do. Nothing.
Perhaps yes. He knew that the 2002 report was never filed with child services thus he knew that school officials were knowingly violating state law. He knew that PSU was knowingly harboring a sex offender in his facilities.
