Buried in the statement Joe Paterno released this morning...is the final piece of evidence, if you are one of the few who still need it, that the man must be removed from his head-coaching job immediately.
...“At this moment the Board of Trustees should not spend a single minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address. I want to make this as easy for them as I possibly can.”
...Paterno did not do enough to put a stop to that abuse when alerted in 2002, is now issuing instructions to the Board of Trustees?
Shame on you. The proper path forward is clear: Joe must go. Now. Today. Without another moment to lose.
This is a striking level of arrogance and cluelessness from the 84-year-old coach, a level of brazen obtuseness that has the chance of getting lost in the actual news...
But let’s not miss the news that matters: Joe Paterno... still has the gall to offer instructions to those trying to make sense of this horror.

What a jerk. Has anyone checked to see if Paterno is a NAMBLA supporter? It looks like that may be the case here.
Foxsports just wakes up to the fact that Joe Paterno is “arrogant” and seemingly “tells the Trustees what to do”? Heck, he’s been doing that for many, many years. If the national Media had an objective view of the man he might not have lasted this long.
PSU considers Paterno emblematic of their program because of the (till now) positive national press it brings. If there’d been a little less hero worship everybody might be a little better off right now.

Upon learning that Joe Paterno (at best a RINO) donated to the Obama campaign early in 2008, what modicum of tolerance I had for the coach vanished. He needs to go. As in go to jail. Go directly to jail. The tolerance of sodomy under his watch makes Paterno a criminal of the worst kind. And giving money to a Marxist’s campaign only worsens my already low estimation of this vile man.
Its sick the way people will over look something like child rape in order to protect their idols. God help them.

The person our anger should be directed to is Sandusky. Seems he didn’t care who he hurt just so his urges were satisfied.

When you consider the potential impact on recruiting...just based on what's in the best interests of the program, than JoePa has to go, they've already lost a few recruits since this started.

He's an Obama supporter and backed it up with his money. And the few Republicans he donated to are RINOs, not Conservatives as shown by Paterno's Political Contributions.
An (R) beside his name is no excuse and it doesn't make him a Conservative. Think Jacob Javits, Olympia Snowe, Bob LaFollette...

Yes, Sandusky is the primary villain. But everyone who knew about Sandusky assaulting children and did nothing is morally responsible. I can’t imagine knowing that something like that happened to a child and not informing the police (so the abuser hopefully won’t be able to abuse any other children) and not informing the victim’s parents so that child can get help.
Caught a second of Headline News: A campus mural which included a painting of Sandusky has been changed - Sandusky’s face is now a blue blob.
The students are now wearing blue ribbons for the victims.
One guy interviewed said he hopes Joe Paterno wears the ribbon.

According to one poster here, he contributed to Obama, but either way, he doesn't get a pass.
This is just my opinion, for what it's worth--
He seems to have done the right thing by reporting to higher ups very shortly after he was told about it, but when his buddy was not being led away in handcuffs within a day or two, he had no right to sit on this information.
You can bet he and PSU are about to get their asses sued off for letting this continue. He needs to go--now. (and I think he will be gone in a few days, but we shall see.)
Also, I was serious about the NAMBLA aspect-- some people just don't see anything wrong with this stuff. Is that why PSU just sat on it while others were victimized? I don't know.

#1 28 yo Michael McQueary was an eyewitness to the March 2, 2002 assault and met with Paterno the morning after.
Outcome: McQueary meets with Paterno's superiors later in March 2002 but is never interviewed by investigators during the time Sandusky is still running sports camps thruout the state (thru 2008). Paterno "rewards" McQueary to become Wide Receivers Coach (McQueary was a graduate asst at time of being eyewitness) -- and apparently NEVER uses his authority as McQueary's direct supervisor to go directly to the authorities to tell them what McQueary saw that night in March, 2002.
#2 Paterno does the "right" thing initially but fails Basic Humanitarian Ethics 101 over the long run, never tipping off authorities to what he heard from McQueary -- until a Grand Jury subpoenas him in 2010, that is!
Outcome: During this time Paterno knew that Sandusky was running camps on at least four other campuses for 4th graders on up...thru 2008. (Two of these campuses were Penn State satellite campuses)
#3 A felony demands an immediate call. (Just like being down with minutes left in the game demands a no-huddle offense). So Paterno could define a sense of urgency for his offenses, but not the offenses of child-rape? Why did he wait 24 hours to report the crime to his superiors? Did he not know that the rapist could rape the same victim again that very night?
I could just imagine if a murder and body disposal had occurred on Paterno's "watch" on campus. Why, he would have "reported" the "incident" to his superiors, 100% forgotten about it forever, & then focused on the REAL issues of life: Football!
And finally, we're just to believe that Sandusky's "convenient" retirement at age 55 in June, 1999 had NOTHING to do with 1998 crimes and criminal investigations involving pedophilia? And we're to believe that Paterno knew NOTHING of the relationship between his "retirement" and what occurred the year before? And therefore all of this about Sandusky was one HUGE surprise to Paterno early March, 2002?
