I wonder if you would feel the same way if it was YOUR 10 year old son who was RAPED.
Hope you never have to find out.

Does anybody even understand morality vs legality anymore?

Not so ‘cool’ Jenny.

What has happened at Penn State is one of the sad “sign of the times” for American society.

Did you see the press conference? It is the students who are hysterical.

Penn State has been implicated in a chamber of horrors. It took three years for the grand jury to finish, and you want to wait how many more with this goblin god running the show? Do you know what kind of environment that would create in Madison, and above all Columbus, whose team was punished severely for far less? Penn State plays in those two cities
before the month is out.

To do otherwise for people like you, is to put some strange, myopic faith in this rotten justice system of ours. The question isn’t formal guilt or innocence. It is whether these events; CHILD MOLESTATION, CHILD ABUSE, occurred at Penn State in their football facilities. If so, they should be banished. Go join the rioters, or better yet, the Occupy folk, as it is pure evil and wickedness you are defending here.

As a PSU student, I saw some of this stuff last night.

when one of your grad assistant coaches comes to you, the head coach, and reports he saw Uncle Jerry plugging a naked 10 yr old boy in the locker room shower, a coach as a mandated reporter calls the police.

Joe-Pa slept on it for a night, then called in damage control - his uppers on the university staff.

And for another 8 years everyone KNEW Uncle Jerry was still on the prowl, just not on the main campus. But hey, Joe “did his job” and called his boss and the band played on.

Oh, someone overseeing the athletic department decided to take away Uncle Jerry's locker room keys and ban him from the main campus where the real PSU gods dwell - but running his “Second Mile” kiddie camps (linked to Penn State football) on other Penn State campuses was “OK”- what goes on in Harrisburg and Behrend stays in Harrisburg and Behrend.

The entire lot of men who chose to protect Penn State football rather than protect kids from this predator- are damned.

These rioting students need to have their terms cancelled and sent home. Let Mummy and Daddy swallow a term's tuition.
And Penn State football- suspended for the season.

BTW I went to Penn State and I was there when the place was “shut down” for Kent State shootings... actually we were “allowed” to convert any course we were taking from graded to pass-fail so we could all go attend demonstrations. Ha. Pass-Fail was the only way I got through German 4!

This riotous “support” for Paterno is ridiculous and trivial and should not be tolerated. The inmates should not run the asylum.

nobody should be bigger than the university and the program. Joe knew and he should go.

I feel bad, but they allowed one man to become bigger than the program and this is the cost.

I don’t care how many games Paterno has won, he and the rest of the enables of this atrocity should go from Penn State to State Pen for the rest of their miserable lives. He’s just done an OJ with his reputation.

Here's what I predicted on FR back on the 7th (seems so long ago now):
I mean a line change in the AD offices isn’t going to be enough, jmho.

This is part bigger and longer problem at Penn State in particular, big state U’s in general and all big upper education establishments.

Penn State is being hit by a “perfect storm” wave. The state legislature and governor are still in a aggressive cost-cutting mode, the other Pennsylvanian educational establishments are going to have to fiercely compete with big dog Penn State, just to survive, and Penn State’s institutional arrogance has breed a LOT of deep animus that about to be “fracked”. In the more general picture public opinion as to the value higher education is changing rapidly, and rapidly anti-establishment.

The crimes at Penn State are just now coming out, the severity, duration and people caught up in them, seems to be increasing with every report.

I do not think Joe Pat’s reputation will survive. I wonder in Penn State Athletics will survive in any form close to current. I wonder what will happen to Hershey Medical Center. I suspect Penn State will deconstruct, implode.

In a post a day later I noted the moral temper of the times, the Sex Faires, Rep. John A. Lawless's comments about the open moral depravity of PSU. The Paterno-Sandusky program was how we see now, in its own way, part and parcel of that cultural and elite depravity. "Elite" because the professionals at modern colleges PUSH it on the immature adults.

They are rioting because they fired a man who harbored a child molester?

The gays on campus are probably upset because this will mean that the days of the administration covering for people having sex with under-age boys are over.

The inmates [meaning the rioting students] should not run the asylum.

True, but in these modern US higher educational establishments the staff, the teachers, the professors, the deans, directors, presidents are all as a cohort promiscuously morally insane, and thrive on the huge loans they dupe the immature youths to take on.

"I don’t know why these people protected Sandusky, but you can bet at least part of it was to protect the football program, the university because it had the football program, and “the game.”

McQueary had possession of the inside dirt on Sandusky! 'For my silence, I want to be a star coach inside the Nittany kingdom wink wink nudge nudge.'

The rest of the football games will be circuses. Nasty signs and disruptions. Any players with real talent should just transfer to another school, it will be many years before they recover. I;m sorry but it’s just a game.

"But police reports, campus or otherwise, mean nothing until they are adjudicated in a court of law with jury and or judge."

What planet are you on? That is exactly what has happened. I defy you to read the testimony of 8 victims in the Investigating Grand Jury indictment against Sandusky, and then attempt to continue your sanctimonious carping here. You must be a real pip IRL...

Could the Big Ten end up inviting UConn in its conference and drop Penn State?
