I will say this - much of the flaming over Perry is over differences of opinion on policy - whether or not the Gardasil issue is important, whether the border fence matters, or in-state-tuition for illegals - some folks took that too far, but it was still over policy.
Whereas with the allegations of sexual harassment against Cain, those were clearly a time-worn attack method of the left dating back to Clarence Thomas, and no FReeper, whatever their motivations, should have been joining in to use that method of attack to help drag Cain down. Conservatives need to unite against liberal attacks against one of our own, no matter who we might support. And that is what really had ME irate over the last few days. Fortunately, as more details came out, the position appears to have become completely untenable to those trying to score points with it, so the debate has shifted to how Cain and his staff handled it - a fair point of debate, but unfortunately those trying to score points off of it fail to acknowledge the extreme difficulty of fighing off this kind of 'when did you stop beating your wife' kind of attack.
You are absolutely right about that. I agree with you 100% about that.
Any FReeper who joined in on those trumped-up DNC lying-scumbag-whore charges against Cain seriously stepped over the line.
