FBI raids RI lawmaker's office Sources: Rep. under investigation for fraud

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Federal investigators spent Wednesday bringing out boxes from the Providence office of Rep. John J. McCauley during an afternoon raid.
According to Jim Martin from the US Attorney's Office in Providence, agents were executing a search warrant at McCauley & L'Europa Public Insurance Adjusters.
Law enforcement sources told Eyewitness News McCauley, deputy speaker of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, was under investigation for alleged insurance fraud.
Law men and women spent about an hour at the location Wednesday, removing multiple computers and more than a dozen brown boxes.
Sources also said a federal grand jury is hearing testimony on this case this week.
According to our newspartners at The Providence Journal , McCauley's business partner - William L'Europa - watched the raid but did not speak.
A task force of Providence Police, RI State Police, FBI and ATF are involved in the probe.
McCauley was hospitalized Saturday night. Sources said McCauley had learned of the investigation that day.

The only reason that I knew of this was the article was posted on an insurance fraud website.
A Google search for any news stories on this Democrat slime-ball McCauley came back as a big zero. Which leads me to firmly believe that Google is in the pocket of the Dems for sure.
However using another search engine I did find one other news report. The comments about this Democrat alleged crook are worth reading. I love reading that McCauley is a former “drainage inspector.” He must be part of the Nancy Pelosi “Drain the swamp” crew!

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rep. John J. McCauley Jr., D-Providence, was hospitalized over the weekend following a 911 call to his insurance adjustment office on Hawkins Street.
William L’Euorpa, McCauley’s partner in the business, McCauley & L’Europoa Public Insurance Adjusters, said Tuesday they had learned that the FBI was investigating their business.
L’Europa declined to comment further on the circumstances of McCauley’s hospitalization, other than to say that he’d heard many rumors and “people are making a mountain out of a mole hill.”
McCauley, a former plumbing, drainage and gas inspector for the city of Providence, was elected to the House in 1990 and is the deputy speaker.

he is the deputy speaker and the deputy speaker is always a DEM in RI.
