Penn State Scandal: Mother of Alleged Victim Says Son Was Afraid to Tell Sandusky 'No'
ABC News ^ | November 11, 2011 | KEVIN DOLAK

The mother of the boy who triggered the investigation into Jerry Sandusky's alleged child sex assaults says that during the years of abuse the boy suffered he felt he didn't have the power to say no to the former Penn State football coach.

Speaking exclusively with George Stephanopoulos on ABC News' "Good Morning America" the mother of the boy, who is referred to in court papers as Victim 1, describes how she learned of the abuse and how her son lived in fear of coming forward to implicate a football coaching legend.

"I had said, 'You know, maybe we should have come to this conclusion earlier -- you should have told me,'" the mother, whose name is being withheld, said she told her son. "He was like, 'Well, I didn't know what to do … you just can't tell Jerry no.'"

"I had said, 'You know, maybe we should have come to this conclusion earlier -- you should have told me,'"

"You should..." This mother's guilty conscience is speaking loudly and clearly.

We have normalized, mainstreamed, legalized and celebrated sodomy.
We are teaching it as an wonderful alternative lifestyle in our schools.
Homophobia is a hate crime.
Tell me, what is there to prosecute when this old sodomite is just doing what comes natural?
We should be normalizing, celebrating, and legalizing homophobia.

Does anybody think that Coach McQueary would be a Penn State coach in 2011 if he had reported this to the police in 2001? The grad assistent was afraid, the boy was afraid, his mom was afraid, Paterno was afraid, everyone was afraid. What is the power that Sandusky held over all these people?

This is so sick.

All the do-gooders said that this was homophobic and deeply wrong.

But I think the Boy Scouts were on to something.

Do some online research into it and you will find that in the US, homosexuals have shunned NAMBLA because a link would stop advancing their agenda for gay marriage, etc.

Look in Europe and you will see that homosexuals have advocated (and succeeded) in lowering the age of consent to the age of 14.

They are very careful to package their wishes in the US, so you will see homosexuals condemn Sandusky very loudly to preserve their legal gains.

And they will point out, that since Sandusky is married, he is technically, "straight."

Where the f**k is DAD?!?!

I'm sick of these MSM stories that never even mention a father. They are written as if his partition in the son's life is completely irrelevant. Most fathers would be highly suspicious of a grown man showing so much personal interest in their son, but it seems the people covering these stories are either unaware or uninterested in the dad's role in their son's life.

Sandusky, as most pedophile predators, prey on the vulnerable. Meaning, the boys who don't have an angry father who would likely beat him senseless. This is an important part of the story, but apparently, not to the press who continue to believe fathers can be easily replaced by “father figures”.

And he's been told his entire life by the media and his "educators" that homosexual activity is healthy and normal..

He was probably confused why it seemed so authentically repellent and disgusting.

I have seen practice footage of Sandusky. He was bigger than most of his players. This had to be truly terrifying to these young boys.

You make very good points. Sandusky is a physically imposing man who had a lot of authority; he would make many women and children quite fearful, not just physically but for their economic well-being. In addition, they are basically in a one-show town that has almost religious respect for anything Paterno and the Penn State football program does — remember, its not only their reputation but the fact that the $ 75 million annual profit this program makes employs a lot of people and buys a lot from stores, restaurants and hotels in town. It is not easy going up against a demi-god and the money others make off of him - remember what happened to St. Paul when he shut down the vendors selling idols in Ephesis.

It wasn’t Sandusky that held the power. It was the multi-million dollar football machine.

AND we have made Football the national religion and everyone associated with it a god.
Nothing is more important than football.
And you don’t say no to a god.
Now they’re sacrificing children to them.

“Where the f**k is DAD?!?!”

Gone. As were most of the fathers of these kids. The Second Mile was specifically setup to service kids of dysfunctional families. Why do you think this went on for so long? These kids were at risk to begin with.

Considering the riots were because he was fired and not because he attacked little kids I can well imagine the response when anyone tried to report this.

And this wrestling coach does nothing either? WTF is WRONG with these people?

Don’t be surprised if multiple predators are outed over the next months. It wouldn’t surprise me if we find out that JoePa is one of them.

We have failed our children. We have aloud evil take over our lives. We have become the sheep that we all feared. This is just a small view of the evil that pollutes our lives.....There was a time when someone who did this to a children would be hanging from a short rope. This will be whitewashed and within 6 months be forgotten. And evil wins again. A sign of the times.... The end times.

The system has failed the children too. I know of a situation where the child did report it to the parent, the parent called the police & then Children Services got involved.

They all believed the perp & the child was humiliated & in fear of ever telling what continued to happen to her after that from same person.

The children of abuse & the parents of those same children, are often afraid to report it, for many reasons. Shame being one of them & the fear of not being believed & the fear of retribution from the offender or his family!!!

Yes, but as Paterno’s assistant and heir apparent, he held a lot of power. He was head of the charity that was presumably helping the child with the mother’s approval — that is why the kid wouldn’t tell his mom. The mother was receiving help with her child, so she wouldn’t want to kill the golden goose, so she turned a blind eye. The grad assistent was hoping to continue with the program after his degree.Paterno? I have no excuse for him. The whole thing is sick, although I can see how it happened.

I repeat: Does anyone think that McQueary would have the job he has today if he’d made a big splash by calling the police by exposing this creep when he caught them in the gym 10 years ago?

And why, oh why, was Sandusky allowed to continue his access to the gym after he was forced out?
