Westboro Baptist Church, best-known for picketing funerals of dead soldiers, is now taking its show of hate to Penn State - to protest the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that has rocked the country and shocked the university. However, the divisive group's actions have united a divided campus, by inspiring a counter-protest by the atheist and LGBT student groups.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, the WBC will be holding up its famously abrasive signs at Beaver Stadium in University Park, PA where the Penn State football team will take on Nebraska. According to the WBC website, "Penn State has the wrath of God raining down on them in righteous judgement!"
WBC says the alleged cover-up is similar to the cover-up scandals that have plagued the Catholic Church in recent years. "They have taken from the playbook of the Catholics. Let's diddle the little kiddies and hide it from top to bottom!" the group's website says. "Fitting that the head cover-up artist is called the Pope of Happy Valley. How sick is that! Not surprising, but sick!"
In addition, the radical fundamentalist group also plans on protesting the current state of education.
"College in this country is nothing more than a giant party, with a few classes set to instruct in sin thrown in for good measure," the WBC site says. "What you have turned out of those classes are raping priests, raping coaches, raping marines, along with various other violent dangerous brutes that are poised to be tomorrows 'heroes' in this vile land. Wake up! You have angered your God beyond recovery. More and worse is coming! America is doomed! "
However, despite the polarizing nature of WBC as well as the sex abuse scandal itself, which caused many Penn State students to riot after it was announced legendary football coach Joe Paterno was fired, the radical group has caused the Penn State Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Ally Student Alliance to team up with the Penn State Atheist/Agnostic Association in a counter-protest.
For Scott Brown, president of the Penn State Atheist/Agnostic Association, it is not that WBC is protesting the child sex scandal which has inspired his group to counter-protest, but the "bigotry" that they represent.
"I think it's hateful and it's bigoted and narrow-minded and it supports cultures of intolerance that we have in America," Brown said, according to Penn State college newspaper, The Collegian.
Alyssia Motah, co-president of the LGBTQA Student Alliance, says that WBC's presence will be a chance to be heard.
"The fact that they're going to be here is an opportunity for us to react and we intend to do that," Motah said.
Motah also hopes that other students will join in.
"Just to visibly be there is going to be a great and I hope the student body will stand behind us on that," she said. "We will be the ones with rainbow flags."
Reminds me of when Dennis Miller use to do the Weekend update on SNL: “Today Michael Jackson denied he is a pedophile. What he meant to say is he’s a HOMSEXUAL pedophile.” lol

Most people don't realize that the patriarch of the Westboro family was an attorney who advocated long ago for civil rights on behalf of minorities.
What got them all up in arms -- and pushed them WAY OVER the edge -- were homosexuals having sex in a public park that his children accessed to/from school, etc.
They put up a fight in front of the park...including picketing...which in turn prompted the homosexuals and their allies to publicly confront them.
Of course, from there they eventually decided that just about the entire world was pro-homosexual and thus, they now essentially take on the 'entire world': Them vs. everybody.
People just assume their roots were as "fundamentalists"; actually, the dad was fairly "progressive" for his time in legally sticking up for minorities. [I believe he filed legal briefs, etc.]

I won't engage you in inflammatory discussion nor will I get involved in a personal attack. We're all Conservatives here and thus are better than that, being the thoughtful sort of people.
My reason for stating that all homosexuals are pedophiles in waiting is because both are forms of deviant sexual behavior. I think that there's very little daylight (if any) between the sin of homosexuality and the sin of pedophilia. Homosexuality is the first step on the short path toward pedophilia. In my estimation, they are both facets of a special sort of vile, depraved behavior that the Holy Bible deems to be an abomination.

Most or all of the coaching staff without a doubt was aware of the situation throughout the years and they should all be fired. They undoubtedly will be questioning many, many people in the ongoing State and Federal investigations of Sandusky’s “charity”, the football program, administrative management, the board, anyone else that has evidence or knowledge. It reveals an over $2.5 million annual budget, thousands of donors and volunteers, dozens of board members, all serving well over 100,000 troubled children at any one time throughout the entire State of Pennsylvania. A veritable mother lode of potential victims, with Sandusky being in a position of complete unsupervised self-disgression and unquestioned authority, purpose and access: a pedophiles’ ultimate dream come true.
As astoundingly immoral as the specifics of the tip of this iceberg currently appear, they are simply the first blossoms of the fruits of the seeds sown into our legal system by the legalization of sodomy and other various crimes of deviant sexual behavior. The Tim Curley’s, Gary Schultz’s and Graham Spanier’s of America, along with other administration, campus police, any other law enforcement that was aware of any of this case, represent a wide swath of American adults who are employed in positions of authority and influence who are forced into timidity by the sodomite lobby.
The 13-year coverup is a direct result of the sodomite agenda in America and I would say that it is straightforward to grasp how the agenda creates the moral failure.
A guy like McQueary is an EYE-WITNESS. He is very confused. Fifty years ago he would have had perfectly clarity in his mind that he had to immediately try to do all he could to a) stop the rape and b) simultaneously call for help and the authorities - exactly the same response one would make if one saw any other violent crime in progress.
But we live in times of moral collapse - because sodomy amongst adults is INSTITUTIONALLY CONDONED, PROTECTED BY GOVERNMENT AND THE LAW and CELEBRATED by a powerful, vocal and morally bankrupt minority segment of the population. If every one of those boys was raped on their 18th birthday, Sandusky would still be coaching and Penn State would be hailed as a bastion of liberal orthodoxy. Fornication is viewed by many as a pillar of American freedom. Because of this societal moral lapse - every child rape witness’s first thought now is to not react in such a way that THEY THEMSELVES - the witness - could be accused of a CRIME AGAINST THE PERPETRATOR OF THE RAPE by interrupting the crime or reporting it. The witness’s mind starts to race. “Is this activity I see good or bad ? Ok ? Funny ? To each their own ? Am I prejudiced ? Am I in trouble ? What if the victim is consenting and the attacker and the victim want their privacy ? Can they sue me if I report what I saw ?” Etc. Despite the moral confusion generated by today’s laws and regulations, the average citizen still instinctfully knows (like witness Jim Calhoun, now left in a nursing home suffering from dementia) that there’s something horribly wrong with sodomy.
Not knowing our Gordian legal codes du jour in any detail whatsoever, the cowardly and confused response is to tell your supervisor, cover your ears, close your eyes and loudly repeat “LA LA LA LA LA” for about 5 minutes, then open one eye and see if everyone has walked away from you.
You don’t even want to think about the act, you’re trying to put it in the place in your memory where you keep secrets. So with all that mental effort at rationalizing there’s so much distraction your mind takes hours or days to come across the concept of maybe the victim really was a victim scared out of their wits. And you certainly don’t want to speculate in your mind about how old the victim was if they look young, because that just seems “wrong” to you - perhaps you can just say they looked older. Evidently, this moral confusion, further clouded by what can only be described as a cult of worship of football games and a self-important football hero of epic proportions, created a snowballing lie that infested what may prove to be hundreds or even thousands of people who enthusiastically blotted out the victims from their conscience.
This is the first time they have an adequate forum for their over-abrasive message. So in this case, I sort of wish them well.

What you say is true, of course. That’s why the the “gay gene” theory is so crucial to the homosexual agenda. As long as people believe that homosexuals aren’t willingly choosing to engage in something widely believed to be deviant and repulsive, people lose sight of how far those deviant impulses will take them. The truth is, homosexual men have no moral boundaries when it comes to sex. That’s why such a staggeringly disproportionate number of sex crimes against children are committed by homosexual pedophiles.
This may be the best news Sandusky and Penn State have gotten lately.
Not being acquainted with a homosexual, whether male or female, that I’m aware of, I can’t comment knowledgeably on whether every homosexual is a potential or actual pedophile but it does seem to be a “broad brush”.
You’re right re_nortex, both homosexuality and pedophilia are sins and crimes against God and both are sexual in nature but there is a difference between a homosexual, who practices his/her perversions with another adult and a pedophile, whose victims are children.
The O.T. prescribes death for homosexuals, we aren’t under Mosaic law and we don’t kill them anymore, nor do I advocate that. God has His own way of punishment and it’s worse than anything we could devise.
As for pedophiles, we lock them away when they are caught doing their evil but that thing about a millstone around the neck of pedophiles and cast into the sea is a bad enough punishment for them but they will have their part in the lake of fire as surely as the unrepentant homosexual will.
I’ll not bring up my sins, preferring to count on the grace of God through the blood of Jesus to atone when I ask for forgiveness and mercy.
