“... in the end I think we’ll find she did know”.

I agree. People can sort of wrap their minds around the fact that a man could abuse a child and be some sort of sick predator .... but for a woman to ignore it? That is very difficult for most to understand. How could a woman... who is suppose to be loving, kind, and protective of children naturally.. ignore such horrendous abuse? For what gain or purpose? To save her marriage, to save face in the community or what? The reason that I can be so cold towards the wife in this case comes from knowledge of a family that lived in my neighborhood as a kid. When the teen daughter became pregnant with the baby of either her father or brother... Social Services got involved. The mother gladly surrendered her three girls into separate foster homes rather than have her husband leave the home. (it was given as an option by Social Services that the girls were removed or the husband left willingly). There was no way that she would be without a husband even temporarily. She knew about the abuse all along and hid it. There are some demented and evil people in this world and I think the most evil hide behind “picket fences” or “positions in the community”.

Yep...have seen similar in my hometown community. Denial is powerful but will hold only until the obvious can no longer be denied. I doubt very much she can deny these happenings now..but am pretty certain she new for sometime.

Quite amazing the many whose lives will be affected as this progresses.....all those at the college and the community itself as a whole...but none more than the children this beast raped.

This is not going to be over for a very long time....it will unfold as did the Catholic church and with as much aggrivation and anger that it went on for so long to protect adults who should have been charged and jailed.

The similarities between this and the Catholic Church are quite apparent....

One would hope so, caww, but if the Mark Madden rumor is true, I can easily see the reason for all the cover-ups.

Very important people with a lot of money have the means and the power to “bury” this story, and anyone who wants to get it out, not just figuratively, either!

They’ll surely attempt to bury the story as time moves along and the press drops it....they only need to ride the wild waves currently unitl they calm. Then it will all be underground to finish off anything which might expose the entirety of it.

It’s now each man for himself.

After reading the grand jury report, it is difficult to imagine Mrs. Sandusky was not aware something was seriously amiss. Her husband used to go down to the bedroom basement where his overnight boy guests stayed...that is where some of the abuse detailed in the report occurred. He would regularly travel with a boy at his side. What grown man is that interested in the company of minor men? I live in the Philadelphia metro area, our media is saturated with news of this scandal. I heard a report yesterday that Mrs. Sandusky called a witness in an attempt to persuade him not to offer testimony against her husband. (I’m in the process of trying to corroborate). In any case, most wives would be extremely suspicious if their husbands left their bedrooms to make nocturnal visits to boy guests sleeping in the basement. On a very regular basis.

I don’t understand your post: is your uncle not the man his wife thinks he is?

8 victims listed in the grand jury document
1 grad-student witness
1 janitor witness
1 police-monitored conversation between a victim’s mother & Sandusky re: sexual activities w/ her son

So you think Sandusky was so hated prior to this allegation being made public that these 12+ people conspired to ruin his life?

It’s a sad fact, but there are more victims. It’s hard to believe that this started in the 90s. Second Mile, his home being next to an elemtary school. Very disturbing...but there quite possibly could be over 100 victims.

I understand. But his being caught there - which I think undoubtedly happened - is not documented by multiple witnesses.

Not so the other locations.

In other words - it appears the only place he was active but not caught is at home. Makes home the anomaly - since we know he did it there.

I’m guessing your grandmother wasn’t of the same opinion as your aunt.

I’m sorry you had to listen to your aunt babble. Some people don’t like looking at terrible truths. It sounds like your aunt is one of them.

You mentioned you have a doberman. Dogs tend to be good judges of character, in my opinion. :-)

“I just read a Stephen King short story based on BTK where this serial murder’s wife discovers his wife is a serial killer after many years.”

I think there should be a “husband” in there somewhere. :-)

[”babbling” is perfect, really]

I was actually seeing an image in my mind of my aged aunt defending my long dead grandfather following an innoccous remark on my part. Her response was so vociferious that I concluded instantly the granddad wasn’t in fact “a saint”.

If McQueary had done that, he might be a hero today.

Apparently you don’t understand politics and the chain of command.

Rule 1: If you want to get ahead in your profession you have to play the game. NEVER get any higher authority in trouble.

Rule 2: Chain of Command. You must use the chain of command so that all above you can “get their stories right” so that they can crucify you and make you look like a total fool.

Rule 3: If the boss doesn’t see problem...there is nothing wrong. If you persist, you become the problem.
