AirBus, hasn’t sold a single plane that competes with the Boeing 777 in over two years and has pretty much abandoned that market.

“AirBus, hasn’t sold a single plane that competes with the Boeing 777...”

I don’t follow the aviation industry that closely, but the last time I was paying attention, that giant Airbus plane was poised to dominate the airplane markets worldwide.

I guess that hasn’t happened?

“Obscene oil profits at work.”

Not to mention the money they save on not having to run all that security.

The A350 is the Airbus plane that is supposedly the competition to the Boeing 777. The huge Airbus plane, the A380, is competition against larger Boeing models.

From the article:

Among the nearly 240 planes Emirates has on order are 70 Airbus A350s, a new long range jet designed to compete against Boeing's recently introduced 787 Dreamliner.

Airbus parent company EADS NV last week took a 200 million euro ($273 million) charge to its third-quarter earnings because of the latest delay in the launch of the A350. The European plane maker now expects the A350 will enter service during the first half of 2014, up to six months later than previously forecast.

I also thought that the AB 350's were to compete against the 777. Looks like market spin and rebranding happens everywhere.

The A380 does not compete with the 777. Different market segments.

It was the A340 that competed with the 777, but A340 makes no economic sense.

There was a story the other day saying the A340 will no longer be produced.
