Spec Ops Command Slams SEAL Raid Book as 'a Lie' (CYA)

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. military is denouncing a former Navy SEAL's book that claims to describe the "real" version of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

"It's just not true," U.S. Special Operations Command spokesman Col. Tim Nye said. "It's not how it happened."

Laden with conspiracy theories and attacks on the Obama White House, Chuck Pfarrer's "SEAL Target Geronimo" claims an alternative version of the raid in which the SEAL team shot bin Laden within 90 seconds of arriving at the Pakistan compound where the al-Qaida mastermind was holed up.

Pfarrer claims the White House issued a fictional and damaging account of the raid that made the SEALs looks inept. He says President Barack Obama's speedy acknowledgement of the raid was a craven political move that rendered much of the intelligence gathered on the raid useless.

Two irrefutable points: 1. US Military Personnel do not kill in cold blood. 2. Self-serving politicians did compromise benefit of intel harvest

1. US Military Personnel do not kill in cold blood.

have been researching battles like Iwo Jima and Okinawa...

the Marines and GIs were so used to ‘surrenders’ where the surrenders had secreted a grenade or one where the nippons sent out a ‘woman’ (actually a japanese soldier in a dress) who had a nambu machine gun strapped to ‘her’ back...then fell forward as the Jap soldier hiding behind ‘her’ raked the Marines with MG fire.

the American forces tended to assassinate enemy soldiers, who came out with hands up.....

cant blame them.

I would think the usual response would be...

“Well, thats a really neat story...”

That is, and should always be, the tone and response of the Special Operations community...

Because at the end of the day...What really happened will always be remembered by those that actually performed the operation to know the truth...

For those that don’t know, well...

Just my opinion...;-)

hmmm-

trashing has begun (it seems with non-denial/denial)

I once wrote a memo to the president of my company, reporting to him on something he asked me for. When the lawyers saw it they issued a statement that that it was “inaccurate and incomplete,” and had the memo withdrawn from all recipients.

The fact is that it was spot on. This seems to me to be much the same.

(The date of the Green Beret start and the training site for some other raid are the points that they point out as wrong. - they have nothing to do with OBL.)

In this case, who is to believe US Navy personnel were issued direct orders to execute OBL?

I am not saying that the Obama regime is telling the truth in this matter...I have come to believe that everything that comes out of the _residents mouth is a stinking lie.

I am just saying that in ferocious fire fights...there can be instances of not taking prisoners...

IIRC, Tilman’s death was a friendly fire incident that was kept from his parents. Having been part once upon a time of the aftermath of a friendly fire incident in Socom, I can guarantee you that the anguish our troops go through is very real. If there is any reason they would want to shield such information, it would NOT be to hide facts for political reasons. It would be to put some kind of heroic story together so as not to injure families.

That might be misguided, but I fully understand it. They try so hard to care for and protect families, and at times they go overboard. I suppose higher will never do such a thing again, but I would not bet at all that an isolated team wouldn’t be judicious in which facts they chose to tell.

We kill terrorists all time.

What I don’t understand is, why would we capture him? What purpose would it serve? Since we cannot get information out of him, and he would lawyer up, all that would happen is it would give the terrorists an avenue to blow half the world up to get him released.

I don’t think they went in there to just kill him. They got the computers which held more information than Sammy would ever give up.

Of course Obama announced that and the muzzies changed everything which meant we got squat.

Well, it’s worth someone to me. I am glad to know that TM.

Everything that has been officially issued about this raid smells. Including the deaths of members of Seal Team 6 in Afghanistan. How convenient, Dead men tell no tales.

It is hard for Americans to fathom, but we have a dictator sitting int he White House, and when the depths of his crimes are finally revealed, it will be stunning.

At the rate we are going in this country, I see a civil war in our future. We are not divided not only on political issues, but also financial and philosophical issues and cultural issues as well.

I grew up under the working assumption that America was a melting pot, with the result being Americans, not hypenated Americans.

The whole OBL raid story was concocted to bolster the image of Obama. We know better than to believe it.

Similar things in Korea.
No Gun Ri, where North Korean soldiers infiltrated fleeing civilians. The US Army was forced to engage the civilian masses to get at the interspersed NK soldiers.

It was the NK who committed the war crimes, not the US Army.

My guess is that socom is trying very hard to throw great confusion into what really happened that day so the bad guys are unsure what is valid info about the methods used by specops and what is not. As you recall, seals everyplace were begging the media and the politicians to quit talking about the operation, that it would get people killed some day.

As for those guys who’ve been there before, I agree. They sometimes sit around telling how it really went down as opposed to the official version.

Since he was buried at sea, and nobody really knows that they know, I like to think we have him in some cave someplace while we pick his brain for details.

I saw that earlier post. The book might have a few minor errors (most do), but there is enough confirmed to believe Chuck.

They are claiming he talked to *none* of the guys that were there, and in the next breath confirm that Chuck’s company *is* doing some work with the teams.

I also notice that they left out the part about Chuck being a former member of ST- 6.

I think somebody got their panties in a bunch - and wants Chuck trashed.

That certainly seems like something Obama would do.
