The FBI Announces Gangs Have Infiltrated Every Branch Of The Military Robert Johnson | Oct. 22, 2011

The FBI has released a new gang assessment announcing that there are 1.4 million gang members in the US, a 40 percent increase since 2009, and that many of these members are getting inside the military (via Stars and Stripes).

Remember back in 2005-2007 when the U.S. military was stretched to the limit and the Iraq insurgency was at it’s peak? Rumsfeld and the Joint Chiefs issued the “stop-loss” orders, extended deployments, and most unfortunately, loosened recruitment standards. That gangs took advantage of those looser standards and are now infesting the military should come as no surprise to anyone. It’s yet another unintended consequence of that mucked-up war.

No problem. In a couple of years we’ll *all* have to join some sort of “gang” just to survive.

Our forces are stretched pretty thin as it is. There's a limit to how selective recruitment can be.

The fact that we are stretched thin is the reason WHY we must be more selective in recruitment, in the sense of excluding those people who make military life unattractive to good potential recruits, and who cause good men to want to not re-enlist.

As General Patton would have said, “Glad I didn’t live to see it.”
