Newt Gingrich crushes Cain, Romney, Perry and Paul in California PPP poll
The State Column ^ | 11/15/11 | staff

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has crushed pizza magnate Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Texas Governor Rick Perry and Texas Congressman Ron Paul in a California Public Policy Polling poll of Republican primary voters. With 33 percent of the votes, Gingrich is 10 percentage points in front of Romney and 11 percentage points in front of Cain. Gingrich is 27 percentage points ahead of Perry and 28 percentage points ahead of Paul. The California PPP poll is the latest evidence that Gingrich is benefiting from Cain’s trouble with sexual harassment allegations stemming from his tenure as head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.

Newt may be the only one that can knock Romney out. Knocking Mittens out of the race is a good thing. just not sure newt is much better.

On Hannity Newt did admit his commercial with Pelosi (the sofa add) was a huge mistake.

Obama and the Dems are hoping the Repubs are stupid enough to put Newt against him.

I posted this on another thread, but it seems applicable here.

I know newt's got baggage and he has a long history in DC but in this case, IMHO, that's a net plus as to how this might play out. He's a really good politician and so perhaps I'm becoming jaded and cynical in my old age, but it seems to me that you just cannot get around the NWO system that is in place handicapping the races. The Council on Foreign Relations keeps this process locked up. Newt's an old time member there and for that reason alone, in the past I'd never consider him as a possibility on the #1 or #2 spot. Now I would consider him a viable candidate for either. Hold your fire! I'd pay money to watch him eviscerate Obozo in a debate. Biden would be just a sitting duck -- not even too much fun there.

I'm very much afraid that while Cain is up to the task of leadership, the wiley coyotes that inhabit the Hill are just too implacable and deadly for a political neophyte. Hate to say it but those old dogs won't try that crap with Newt, because he is arguably the deadliest old Lobo of the bunch. Having been Speaker of the House virtually guarantees he won't fall into anybody's traps political or otherwise and that's what we need. His debate performances have been nothing short of brilliant (Cain, too) but more and more Newt just looks Presidential. In avoiding the obvious setups to rag on his fellow candidates as the MSM has set them up time and again, Newt comes off as the only "adult" in the room. I think Newt is on Cain's ultra short list for VP in any case and their one on one debate last week shows that well. I think it applies in both directions. Because if Newt is the deadly old political wolf, Cain is the bright and shining businessman who can turn things around for the economy. But we need that old politician and statesman in Newt to keep us safe just as Reagan kept us safe from nuclear war with the USSR. Just my .02. YMMV. Please hold all flames.

I have a feeling you are right. The MSM attacks on Newt will be brutal throughout December. All they need to do is flash his trophy wife up on the screen with no comment. Having said that, at the moment, I am a Newt guy, but it will be brutal and I don't know if he can withstand the assault that is coming. All the nonpolitical people I know can't stand him, but I was like that two months ago, too.

So after Newt wilts, who is the next one on the list, Santorum or will people have to grudgingly accept Mitt?

What Newt's all about:

Expose on the ways Newt has worked to undermine our economic security, constitution, independence, and sovereignty

I’d rather stay home than vote for Romney, Paul or Newt

“On Hannity Newt did admit his commercial with Pelosi (the sofa add) was a huge mistake.”

Of course he did. But this IS Newt. He is willing to work for the other side. When they say roll over Newt will ROLL OVER.

He is a rino. Smart rino but a rino none the less.

third party is looking more and more likely for real conservative Americans.

I am beginning to feel like I would like nothing better than to see the GOP destroyed. We need a REAL voice for conservative ideas. We have been kept quiet long enough.

Yep, here’s the ABC campaign (Anybody But Cain). This is the same pick-the-RINO game that got McLame nominated last time.

As weak as the GOP is, it is the only thing holding back the communists from taking full control.

Destroy the GOP and you destroy America. While large in numbers the Tea Party doesn’t have the power to fill the void.

We need a real Conservative voice, yes. Who will that voice talk to when a large percentage of the population has been raised in the welfare mentality.

A far better option is to take over the GOP with Conservative voices, instead of destroying it.

NO, but California will have a Primary Election and that’s where it will matter!

Obama and the Dems are hoping the Repubs are stupid enough to put Newt against him.

Oh I don't' know about that.....though they might have some comfort in that they think they know Newt, he is not the same man...and they also know he is a formidable force. No-one can argue with his accomplishments though some try to...they always fail for obvious reasons.

Am enjoying that people are seeing that Newt has come far over these years and is more than ready to move this nation to the place of respect and honor he has known it to be...and get us out of the dire straits we are in... A huge task for any taking the office...but he certainly has the will and wants the job. I am very certain the Dems and Repubs are in for a rude awakening from Newt...he is not the same man they have delt with before.

I want my nation to survive and grow beyond Obama the Terrible years....Newt can and will begin to restore what was good about our country...and I can live with all the rest while he does this.

It’s a PPP poll, therefore the credibility is very questionable similar to anything by CNN/ORC.

Leftist pollster’s be damned.

>> Gingrinch lives in Virginia not Georgia. <<

Gingrich represented Georgia during his entire House career but spent most of his time in Virginia. Sorta like how Santorum represented Pennsyvania while in office but lived most of the year in Virginia. Longtime Washington pols sure seem to claim their residence as northern "Virginia" (i.e. the Washignton beltway area) often.

Newt was hired as a consultant to Freddie Mac. He gave them advice..they didnt take it. We do practice free enterprise. btw Freddie Mac donated to Cain’s senate campaign in Georgia

>> In a multi candidate race, he just needs a small plurality. <<

Yes, but he needs a small plurality in every major primary state since he's running for President. Hopefully voters discover the real Newt by January, and Newt fans learn that early polls mean as much for Newt as they did for Perry.

>> Newt can and will begin to restore what was good about our country <<

Right. Cuz he did such a fantastic job restoring this country and taking out Clinton from 1995-1998 when he lead the legislative branch, right? Guess we should give him a shot at the executive, too.

Newt fanboys seem as delusional as Perry-kristna's about their guy's "record" in office. Promising "reform" is one thing. Actually doing it is another.

It doesn’t matter where he used to live. He lives in Virginia now. So there is no Constitutional conflict with Cain.

Yeah, and Cheney lived in “Wyoming”. But that didn’t stop the RATs from constantly reminding voters that the ticket consisted of “two Texas oil men”
