When you have the national “leadership” behind you, it is very hard to be defeated. That’s why the Kristols et al are not worried. Mittens for them!

Herman Cain must be the only potential “sex offender” to offend the sensibilities of the CA electorate.

You know, that's a really interesting, even intriguing combination.

You say: “Newt could simply lists his residence as some other state (or D.C.)”

OR - Newt could simply list his residence where it is! Virginia.

C’mon guys. Catch up. He’s lived there since 1999.

McLean, Virginia, you say... interesting... that borders the city of Washington, D.C. In fact, it WOULD be in D.C. had the district not ceded the Virginia portion of the district back to the state of Virgina even though it was in the beltway area.

Other "residents" in McLean "Virginia" include...
Spencer Abraham
Pat Buchanan
Zbigniew Brzezinski
Dick Cheney
Liddy Cheney
Elizabeth Cheney
John Dingell
Byron Dorgan
Kenneth Duberstein
Chuck Hagel
Frank Keating
Bill Kristol
Patrick Leahy
Scooter Libby
Terry McAuliffe
John Sununu
Don Nickles
Colin Powell
Antonin Scalia
Clarence Thomas

Guess Clarence Thomas can be Cain's running mate too! He's technically from Georgia but now he lives in "Virginia", apparently.

You guys seem to be missing the point. Newt didn't decide to pack up things in Georgia one day and relocate to a lovely country homestead in Richmond. Newt has pretty much "lived" in his "Virginia" residence since he became a Congressman. He only made it official in 1999, and he spends all his time in the beltway area, NOT in the part of Virginia that normal people live in. He's no more a "Virginian" than Al Gore is a "Tennessan" (list the family farm as "home") when he grew up at the Fairfax hotel in Washington D.C.

Another beltway insider running as the anti-establishment "tea party" candidate. Well, Newt, you can list your residence as "Virginia" and call yourself a "Catholic" all you want because you married one. By those standards I'm a "Hoosier Muslim" because I have a summer home in Indiana and live near a Mosque.

I think Newt will be able to withstand the attacks personally. He’s done so before. But his wife is untested in that regard. Plus, there is a whole new generation that has never heard his personal or political history the first time, so that may be damaging in the polls.

Then of course there are always those un-informed voters who seem to awaken in October and make a snap decision on someone based on some glossy ad that lands in their mailbox that week. Newt ain’t no eye candy. You have to have some minimum IQ to get interested in him as a candidate.

I don’t know that we ever go to Santorum. We may recycle Cain, Perry or Bachmann or even Mitt. That’s pretty typical in primaries. After rotating through the main flavors of the month we recycle through the favorites until we settle on the favorite who happens to be peaking in November. This is still anyone’s game.

you say: “...My guy Cain is not ready to swim with the big fish. He is a patriot and a God loving man. The world is much different and obviously much more complex than when this great nation was founded.

I believe that Newt understands the complexity of these times. Yes, many say he is nothing but a history teacher. I believe we need those traits more than ever so that we don’t repeat our past.

It is time to except reality.”
***************************************
Reality check indeed. Too many, re Cain, are falling into the personality trap - which is what got Obama elected.

Personality shouldn’t count more that experience. Personality voting gave us a man who had to learn on the job - and it ain’t working out to well.

I do, however, think Newt is more that “a history teacher.” He’s the only man in our lifetimes that brought in a balanced budget - four years in a row - and put millions back to work. That is EXACTLY what we desperately need now. (This current regime has yet to even present a budget after 3 years - and it’s law that one be presented each year. No one says boo.)

We also need someone who will stop the UN’s headlong attack to usurp our sovereignty. He not only will, but he has mentioned he considers John Bolton to be the man for Sec. of State. (And who knows the UN better and will bring them to heal).

Most of all, we need someone with all his ducks in a row and ready to hit the ground running on day one - we do not have one day to waste. We, America, are in the fight of our lives. Newt will have over 100 Executive orders already written up and ready to sign - on day one - that will nullify much of what obama has done...

The UN is in his cross-hairs and he will reign them from implementing Agenda 21 - at least on America. How many of the other candidates even know what Agenda 21 is?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVD_R2WQOVw

and more.WE need to do our homework - not just listen to what the media wants us to hear - including their control over the debate questions.

>> Cain as Pres and Newt as his VP You know, that's a really interesting, even intriguing combination. <<

Cain's fanboys seem to be doing their hardest to talk me out of keeping their guy on my short list. I wish they'd stop continually drooling over the thought of Dede Scozzafava's boyfriend becoming his running mate.

Not as bad as the "liberty movement" Ron Paul fans constantly hanging out with Dennis Kucinich and floating him for "Ron Paul's running mate", but bad enough.

What's next, Bachmann supporters get a hard on for the possibility of a Bachmann/Murkowski ticket?

I'd just like to add a few technical corrections to what you posted.

Gingrich did pass balanced budgets while he was Speaker of the House. But like every year Congress then passed emergency and supplemental spending bills which blew right past their estimated budgets. They also used the legislative trick of taking their budget overruns and shuffling them to the previous years budget to make the current year look better. Keep in mind that Social Security was running large surpluses each of those years and Congress spent every penny of it. Gingrich never voted for a budget that spent less than tax receipts. Our debt has gone up every year since 1957.

In 2005 Gingrich co-chaired a task force with George Mitchell. They released a joint statement declaring "The American people want an effective United Nations that can fulfill the goals of its Charter in building a safer, freer, and more prosperous world" then recommended "more staffing and funding for peacekeeping operations, more funding for the international mission in Darfur, a doubling of the budget for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and more funding for the World Health Organization."

the difference between Kalifornia's illegals and Texas' illegals? Texas' illegals actually work

I've heard people from Texas cough up that nonsense...Just more evidence many Texans love illegal aliens. We know your governor does.

BTW, the only reason we have more illegals than Texas, is because even in a depression, with a state run by communist, our economy in California is nearly double what the Texas economy is.

I don't mean to ring your bell so hard, I'm just telling ya the facts.

Santorum? Yeesh. What kind of odds are you taking on that? Not that I’m a betting man, but I’m guessing that’d be considered a longshot.

I am also a Mets and Jets fan. I am used to the long shot win.

Recycling? I had not thought of that, but that is a good point. Yes, you are right about those that make snap judgments on all things superficial...it's a shame they vote. This primary shuffle is the most interesting in my memory and I think it is going to get a lot more interesting before it is all over.

“Flavor of the week.”

I don’t think so. I think we’re seeing a seismic shift as a result of fallout from the Cain allegations.

Unfortunate that California is so important in primary elections...

CA won't vote until June 2012. Surely there will be a nominee by that point.

No nonsense, here. And, you're not "ringin' my bell", FRiend...I'll take Texas' 8.5% unemployment over Kali's 12% and the Texas Dream Act over Kali's Dream Act, and Texas' tax rate over Kali's, anyday :)

BTW, it's a propped up "economy" when a large % of "income" comes from entitlements...compliments of...you :)
