Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has crushed pizza magnate Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Texas Governor Rick Perry and Texas Congressman Ron Paul in a California Public Policy Polling poll of Republican primary voters. With 33 percent of the votes, Gingrich is 10 percentage points in front of Romney and 11 percentage points in front of Cain. Gingrich is 27 percentage points ahead of Perry and 28 percentage points ahead of Paul. The California PPP poll is the latest evidence that Gingrich is benefiting from Cains trouble with sexual harassment allegations stemming from his tenure as head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.

I second that emotion.
I think Palin has made her decision. She’s not running.
Now I wish she would announce who she’s supporting. And personally, I hope it’s Cain.
He tied Mitt in CA, if that’s not a sign that Mitt is done, that’s it. Anyways, still working on my leaners.
A bunch of Newt fanboys here on FR figure their guy can't win the nomination because of "baggage" (they are correct), so they want him to throw his support to Cain and run together as an "unstoppable team". It's happened before (Reagan announced his veep choice in 1976 before he had won the nomination, here in Illinois we routinely see candidate for Governor drop out and agree to be someone's Lt. Governor if that person wins the primary)
It's actually unconstitutional for them to be together on the same ticket, since they're both from Georgia, but there's a loophole around that. Newt could simply lists his residence as some other state (or D.C.) where he has a second home (Cheney did it in 2000 when he was residing in Texas but listed his old Wyoming residence as his "home state")
So they're hoping Newt throws his support behind Cain and Cain announces Newt will be his veep choice if voters nominate him. Thankfully, it probably won't happen, but it would be political suicide if Cain does so. They can have Scozzafava's boyfriend. Speaking as someone who's actually met Newt face-to-face, I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher.
Gingrich is trying to make the leap from being Clinton’s Boehner to being Obama’s Dole.
The MSM hasn’t begun to begin piling on Gingrich yet. And that will be brutal. Cain is far from out of this race.
I gave $100 bucks to Thompson last cycle, $100 to Cain this time around.
I (not you) need to look at who really can beat this Marixist in the White House. As Newt has said: everyone on this stage is better than what we have now.
We can continue here and eat our own but the reality is becoming much more evident. It is going to come down to Newt and Mittens for the nomination.
Anything they throw on Newt will be old news. What they are going to be throwing on Mitt’s will be truly more damaging. They will make him look like a fool with his religion. They want this. They are hopefully waiting to expose the craziness of his cult and they will portray Obama’s time with reverend Wright as mainstream compared to Romney.
Some may say I am running from my guy when things got tough. No, I am a realist. This is reality now and will be the case come March 1st.
My guy Cain is not ready to swim with the big fish. He is a patriot and a God loving man. The world is much different and obviously much more complex than when this great nation was founded.
I believe that Newt understands the complexity of these times. Yes, many say he is nothing but a history teacher. I believe we need those traights more than ever so that we don’t repeat our past.
It is time to except reality.
“And why should we care?
California is voting Democrap, so this poll is meaningless.”
For the same reason we care about primary polls in Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Florida or any other state, cause this is a GOP PRIMARY, with GOP DELEGATES at stake, and presumably California will have the largest number of delegates up for grabs. So yes, it does matter quite a bit who wins the California GOP PRIMARY.
Having said all that, I think a poll on November 15 about a California primary being held in March (I think) is fairly meaningless. The polls these days are so fluid and they’ve been all over the place. Furthermore, I expect that if any of the candidates wins 2 of 3 among Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, they will have tons of momentum going Florida and the rest of the states.
So really I don’t regard any of the current state-based polls beyond IA, NH, SC and maybe FL as having a great deal of meaning right now.
Another freeper who gets it. I also believe those three are the only decent conservatives. Freepers have figured what I said long ago about Perry (he's a mediocre hack who only wins in Texas because his "opposition" is a joke), and I actually rank Newt BELOW Perry AND Romney. Newt is a great debater but a sellout and a scumbag. Not to mention given how unfavorable he polls with the general public, it would be suicide to put him on the ticket.
Considering how vulnerable Obama is, we have a pretty sorry crop of candidates.
Ya think? Gingrich would plaster Obama's arse to the wall. You might find the following two videos interesting and educational:

No you don't.
All polls are commissioned to produce a desired result. Typically, polling is controlled by liberals to (mis)direct the efforts of their partisan opponents.
Bluntly; all polls are rigged .. but they are entertaining and do reflect the issue du jure.
Poll musta been taken before the news about Newt’s $300,000 “contract” (a.k.a. bribe) from Freddie Mac.
I don’t follow. It strikes me that California is incredibly UNimportant since it’s so late and everything’s essentially settled by then. Ditto for Texas. I’m not sure why the powers-that-be in those states allow this state of affairs, but for whatever reason they do.
By the time we have the TX primary in March, the nominee will basically have been selected.
Hank
Anyways, Cain takes the state lead, and EC vote lead with the crushing defeat of Mitt in CA.

Gingrich is a walking time bomb. The only question is whether the bomb will go off now, after Cain is out of the race or after he wins the nomination.
Nuf said.
It is Juan Wiliams IIRC who asks about that http://sheya.com/2011/11/08/newt-gingrich-on-special-report-center-seat
I have been arguing to the panicking masses that Mittens has been dead for month. In any other election cycle, a candidate that has a set ceiling of 25% would be laughed at off the stage, especially with all his funds. He has pulled every rabbit out of his hat to win and all he has to show for it is winning NH. He is a joke.
The only question left is who is going to be left to win. My bet? Rick Santorum.
PPP is a liberal group and as such, I'm always suspect to their "findings" (or should I say, check out first where they collected their data; what questions were they asking and what exact phrasing was used in their questions.
Anyone who answers a home phone especially during the day, is especially troubling for genuine results.
Check out to see if Mitt goes after Newt for Mitt's campaign is spending major $$$$ on genuine polling to let him know how he needs to trend in his answers to various questions (note also how he's changed his hair styling, combing, etc.)
As Mitt's got the bucks to spend poll-testing lots of "stuff" as well as finding out how potential voters really think of him as well as his opponents.
