Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno's long service at the university theoretically puts him in line for a pension of more than $500,000 a year, according to an Associated Press analysis of state public pension records.

Paterno's pension records obtained Tuesday from the State Employees' Retirement System credit him with more than 60 years in the system. The formula used to determine benefits makes him eligible for a pension equal to 100 percent of the average of his three highest-salary years.

His pay rose from $541,000 to $568,000 over the past three full calendar years.

Couldn’t agree MORE.

FR is infested with such vile hatred and blood lust it is appalling.

Some on FR use victimized children like human shields to defend their vile, sadistic, and sickening statements.

Until I know the answer to what he knew, who he told, etc. I’ll withhold further judgement.

I agree. I believe Joe passed what McQuery told him word ro word along to Curley. Curley and Shultz (University Police Supervisor) had meetings with McQuery to get the story directly from McQuery (meetings Joe wasn't invited to). Who knows what McQuery actually told Joe. Probably wasn't the same story he told Curley and Shultz. McQuery now says he stopped Sandusky in the shower - conflicts with the Grand Jury report.

JoePa was one of the lowest paid coaches in major college football.

Who said anything about skipping the trial? Put him on trial.

sounds like a lynch mob here...

Sorry, but I've never had any use for JoPa . . . over-rated and entirely way past his prime . . . and to get anywhere near this Sandusky animal as any kind of a friend is absolutely disgusting. I hope they end up in the same cell so Joe can better appreciate Sandusky's perversion. Prison jammies are in order.

Sounds like Paterno was massively underpaid in today’s standards for division 1 football head coaches. His pension is his pension... the two issues have nothing to do with each other.

Some on FR use victimized children like human shields to defend their vile, sadistic, and sickening statements. [LeonardFMason, post #21]

It's been as much the reverse if you've read enough of these Penn State threads...

It's Paterno & Penn State defenders who neglect to even mention victimized children in context with Penn State. We've seen people call Grand Jury Presentments based upon testimony in the "Finding of Fact" section..."hearsay"...

We get JoePologists defending what he knew and what he didn't know without even reading p. 7 of the Grand Jury Presentment that mentions him.

yes by all means lets skip the fair trial and just hang him and damn finding the facts of the case. sounds like a lynch mob here... [RitchieAprile, post #14 -- reinforced by LeonardFMason's "amen" type of post -- "Couldn't agree more" @ #21]

First of all, what "trial" in what "jurisdiction" are you BOTH even talking about?"

Did we all miss a headline somewhere that Joe Paterno's been charged with something?

How can we wait for something that appears won't ever come?

And hanging?[RA's term]
By lynching? [RA's term]
Blood lust? [LFM's term]

What? Do they do that in Pennsylvania for covering up less-than-lethal crimes? Do they let out blood of the accused there?

NO???

Oh. I get it. You're BOTH engaging in extreme hyperbole. You're over the top...because a few posters on the other side of perspectives have also been over the top.

But wait. If it's "OK" for you to be over the top, why not them?

I see, Leonard, you must "hate" those you label as engaging in "vile hatred." (Please provide living examples -- real phrases and real FREEPERS who have engaged in that...yup...that's a dare...and if you don't come up with something, then please reconsider posting false accusations the next time you post)

Now, in case you're both using symbolic language about a "trial" -- as in the "trial" of public opinion, columnist Scott Ostler dealt with that component quite well last week:

Several e-mailers demand, "Have you ever heard of due process?" The due process I've heard of involves a justice system and a legal trial. Paterno faces no legal action or charge. Legally, his rear end is covered.

But there was no trial when Paterno was sainted, no jury declared him one of the noblest and finest college coaches of all time. The public decided. It's the same deal on the flip side. We'll take the facts and form them into our personal legacy of Joe Paterno.

“Lock him up, tie him down. Let the ‘others’ deal with him. I will volunteer a PIPE”

You’ll volunteer the pipe?

Only someone with a sick, perverted, sadistic, evil mind, full of homosexual fantasies would have a thought like that.

You calling me “sicko”? In light of the homo-eroticism in your prison scenario, that is called PROJECTION.

Seek help. Don’t waste time polluting FR.

Your dare?

POST 8 “Review, Joe Paterno in line for pension.” Posted by allmost

“Lock him(Joe Paterno) up, tie him down. Let the ‘others’ deal with him. I will volunteer a pipe”

If that isn’t vile and HATEFUL what is? Go ahead an parse away. Is that normal thought in your world. Is that hyperbole? Filtered through your mind it will be probably be described as a friendly suggestion and kind offer.

“allmost” suggests he would help in the anal rape of an 85 year old man, right here on FREE REPUBLIC. Classy.

Is being outraged over the sexual assault of a child an excuse to encourage the forcible rape of an 85 year old man by having a pipe shoved in his ass?

I’ll call it VILE, EVIL, and HATEFUL. You can minimize it all you want.

(I don't have to minimize it; YOU have to prove your contention in post #21, which you you STILL haven't done.)

Your post #21: FR is INFESTED with such vile hatred and blood lust it is appalling.

One post does not an "infestation" make.

LOL. I gave you ONE. If I gave you 5, you would want 10.

Doesn’t it trouble you that ANYONE on FR would suggest taking a pipe to an 85 year old man’s ass?

Everyone is outraged that there was a “look the other way” permissive attitude at PSU. Someone suggests holding down an 85 year old man and raping him with a pipe and what do you get? Was there an immediate repudiation from a large number of responsible Freepers? Sorry to say there was not.

I guess I see your point. It was only ONE person who suggested such a violent and perverted action. We should not address it. Better to ignore and move on hoping the person doesn’t do it again. Time will pass. Hopefully it will be forgotten.

Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

I WILL back off the word “infestation”. Let’s go with CRAWLING.

What does "infestation" mean to you? Is 10 FREEPERS out of thousands reflective of an "infestation?" Really?

I WILL back off the word “infestation”. Let’s go with CRAWLING

You know, Leonard, people are NOT cockroaches. Nor are they termites...as your carefully chosen words of "infestation" and "crawling" depict.

And even allmost's putrid post #8 doesn't make him/her a cockroach or a termite, despite your opinions to the contrary.

This is what makes your posts so ironic.

You jump on Allmost's case for engaging in "vile hatred"; but then you apparently don't label yourself referencing MANY FREEPERS as the equivalent of cockroaches or termites as "vile hatred." Why not? Didn't the tribe in Rwanda who did most of the killings (of other tribal members) in the 1990s start off with radio broadcasts labeling their intended victims as "cockroaches?"

Doesn’t it trouble you that ANYONE on FR would suggest taking a pipe to an 85 year old man’s ass?

Yes. And when I'm done responding here, I'll respond to that post.

Everyone is outraged that there was a “look the other way” permissive attitude at PSU. Someone suggests holding down an 85 year old man and raping him with a pipe and what do you get? Was there an immediate repudiation from a large number of responsible Freepers? Sorry to say there was not.

Agreed. Sorry to say there wasn't as well.

You can't assume that we read every post, Leonard. Very bad assumption.

I didn't read post #8 til you pointed it out. I didn't ignore it; but I was ignorant of its content.

I responded to your comment because, in part, I haven't seen an "infestation" on ANY thread no matter how long. So why would there be one with less than 30 posts?

But I appreciate you sharing its provocative nature.

Lock him up...

I'm not JoePa defender, but ya gotta charge him first...

...tie him down.

Why? I guess kidnapping is contagious, eh?

Let the ‘others’ deal with him. I will volunteer a pipe.

Street 'justice,' eh? Provocation doesn't = street revenge.

If God allowed 'street justice' for all the times we've abused and dissed Him and violated His ways...we'd be better off hiding in caves.
