What About Newt?

With all the chaos surrounding the Republican nomination race, one thing is very clear: somewhere along the way, Mitt Romney made a Damn Yankees-like pact with Satan to score this group of individuals to run against. It is certain that a vast majority of Republican primary voters do not like Mitt Romney. In fact, we can go further – they can’t stand him. That’s why he’s never broken 30 percent in any national poll of Republican primary voters. That’s why Tea Party support has shuffled from Michele Bachmann to Rick Perry to Herman Cain.

Sadly, though, none of those candidates have been a vessel expansive enough to contain the unbridled enthusiasm of the Tea Party movement. Bachmann’s support fell apart when she began committing boneheaded linguistic gaffes – and more so when Rick Perry jumped into the race. Perry’s campaign fell apart when he suggested that anyone who did not agree with the Texas DREAM Act was heartless – and more so when he disintegrated in the debates. Cain’s campaign fell apart when it became clear he was an amateur – although it took the capper of the sexual harassment charges to do serious damage.

They can keep trying to manipulate us to vote for a rino, fake polls, Drama over pauses, Drama over Axelrod hit attempts. But we are still going with Cain by default. Too much at stake for more of the same to continue.

If we could only transplant Herman Cain’s character and Newt’s brain into Mitt’s body . . .

The author is right on:

“Gingrich’s liberal leanings have all been out of office. When Gingrich was actually in a position of power, he was perhaps the most conservative Speaker of the House in American history. The Republican Revolution of 1994 was his baby. Welfare reform was his baby. On foreign policy, Newt has never wavered – he has always been a hawk. Down deep, Newt is a conservative. Romney is not. The proof is in the pudding” .......

I remember those years well & the author gets it right.

“Which Newt are we voting for? That is the problem.”

Yours is a good question, and a fair one. I suspect if he gets elected we’ll get some of each, but if his performance as Speaker is any indication, it’ll be mostly the conservative Newt.

But I do know one thing for sure - the Newt we’d get is NOT the Newt that would in any important way resemble Barack Obama.

Newt, or Mitt?

That is the question.

(Till Newt implodes, like all those who went before him....)

“. . . in a general election, he’ll have some trouble with the female vote.”

Is that the same female vote that wet themselves twice over BJ Clinton?

How long has Newt been married to his third wife? Perhaps he has long since passed the stage of immaturity, has found faith in God and is focused on the issues of this nation. Also, if our Founding Fathers were placed under the scrutiny that our candidates are, it is likely we would still be bowing to the crown of England. Furthermore, all you Ron Paul supporters: get over it because he will NEVER be a front runner for nomination. I repeat - NEVER! As a Texan, I have watched the Ron Paul show for forty odd years and he is just a bit on the far side of lunacy even though he is obviously an intelligent man with at least one good idea regarding the FED. NEWT is our best shot at bringing sanity back to this great nation.

Newt is out for Newt and will subordinate his core "principles" if it suits him. (early support of Obamacare when he had med-records interest; Newt & Nancy sitting on a couch ... there's plenty of examples).

I believe the inside scoop on his days as Speaker reveal that newt is devoid of any management skills. Idea man, great; RNC chair? Wasserman-Shultz antidote? go for it; POTUS? not so much.

When Gingrich was actually in a position of power, he was perhaps the most conservative Speaker of the House in American history. The Republican Revolution of 1994 was his baby. Welfare reform was his baby. The booming Clinton economy? That could be more accurately attributed to Gingrich. On foreign policy, Newt has never wavered – he has always been a hawk. Down deep, Newt is a conservative."

Fair assessment and tough to argue with. I think Michael Savage has it right when he says that Newt is the latest establishment GOP choice to be the sacrificial lamb to ObaMao and he will lose even worse than Romney.

Keep in mind that Savage admires Newt's mind and debating skills but, as he so correctly points out, at least half of the American electorate doesn't vote based on reason, but on feelings.

Slim, trim, young, fashionable light chocolate man easily wins over fat, out-of-shape, old, unfashionable pasty white man with this crowd.

Good enough for me. I really think he can beat Obama. I know he has baggage but, "let him who is without sin cast the first stone".

To: Vigilanteman; All

Ref. your Post #15: Well then, why in the hell doesn’t Michael Savage get off his lazy, fat a** and get his “ugly as sin” face into the race for President? I say to hell with it all. Tell the GOP to just call off the friggin’ election and tell the Marxist Muslim in the White House to take another four years, free-ride on us, and totally destroy this nation and bring it to ruin because we can’t find the perfect, damn candidate. I AM SO FRIGGIN’ SICK AND TIRED OF THIS S**T . We will deserve what we get!!!

Savage strongly supports Herman Cain and believes he can clean Obama's clock.

Love him or hate him, Michael Savage (and his liberal counterpart Pat Caddell) right far more than they are wrong. Unlike political animals like Dick Morris who get way more attention.

Don't shoot the messenger.

There is still time for Herman Cain to recover.

So what do we do? Wait for a nuclear war to clean out the tax-eating, welfaroid, metrosexual, young-trendy-cosmo city centers for us?
