Which Newt are we voting for? That is the problem.
If we could only transplant Herman Cain’s character and Newt’s brain into Mitt’s body . . .
The author is right on:
“Gingrichs liberal leanings have all been out of office. When Gingrich was actually in a position of power, he was perhaps the most conservative Speaker of the House in American history. The Republican Revolution of 1994 was his baby. Welfare reform was his baby. On foreign policy, Newt has never wavered he has always been a hawk. Down deep, Newt is a conservative. Romney is not. The proof is in the pudding” .......
I remember those years well & the author gets it right.
“Which Newt are we voting for? That is the problem.”
Yours is a good question, and a fair one. I suspect if he gets elected we’ll get some of each, but if his performance as Speaker is any indication, it’ll be mostly the conservative Newt.
But I do know one thing for sure - the Newt we’d get is NOT the Newt that would in any important way resemble Barack Obama.
And you know, right? Go for it.
