Victim 1 Cried When Penn State Suspect Was on TV, Mom Wants More to Come Forward
ABC ^ | 11/16/11 | Kevin Dolak &Jim Avila

The mother of the boy identified as Victim 1 in the Penn State sex abuse scandal said her son broke down in tears when he heard accused child molester Jerry Sandusky claim on television they were just "horsing around."

When she asked her son why he cried, "He said, 'Because I'm afraid. I'm afraid he'll go free.'"

The mom said she reassured her son that is not likely to happen.

"There's other witnesses, probably more victims out there to come forward yet," she told her son, and she urged others with information to speak up.

Her son is one of eight boys who Sandusky, 67, is accused of having molested over a 15-year period.

Lawyer Ben Andreozzi, who says he represents one of the eight alleged victims, said in a statement today "others are actually coming forward."

His own client, Andreozzi said, "wants Mr. Sandusky to know that he fully intends to testify that he was severely assaulted by Mr. Sandusky."

Andreozzi said he was "appalled by the fact that Mr. Sandusky has elected to re-victimize these young men at a time when they should be healing."

The mom of Victim 1, whose identity is being withheld by ABC News, lashed out at Sandusky and his efforts to portray the allegations of sex abuse as merely jock horse play.

Of course it isn’t reported that he cried “at the sight of Jerry Sandusky” but that he cried “when he heard accused child molester Jerry Sandusky claim on television they were just ‘horsing around.’”

Difference - enough of a difference to make it more credible to you? I don’t know. But there is a significant difference in crying at the sight of someone and crying because of what they say to the entire world about you.

That is truly shocking. I wonder how their husbands felt listening to them. Feminism has truly disrupted the concept of being a woman, to the point of idiocy.

I am with you. They were children, and the sex of the child doesn’t matter.

No wonder the homo’s want to sexualize the children. It is another way to destroy heteros.

“Her son was 10 or 11 when he first met Sandusky in 2005 or 2006, and the former coach lavished presents on him, including clothing, a computer, cash and trips, the grand jury report claims. It also charges Sandusky with molesting the boy more than 20 times.”

He’s 15-17 now.

I believe he was released on 100K bail. Someone said just his signature was required.

Sandusky needs for a horse to have his way with him.

I had no idea that was a prevalent attitude, but it isn't a subject that normally comes up much. I was molested as a child by a neighbor kid, also a boy. I was about 6-7 and it only happened once as my parents found out and put a stop to it. Police were not called. I was not traumatized, for me at that age and the way it was handled it was a non-event.

But it is not like it is a subject that ever came up when I was dating either.

And the judge who made the bail decision had donated to Sandusky’s charity. She chose not to recuse herself.

I have really done some deep thinking since hearing the conversation. No wonder it is one of the most underreported crimes. The abuser must feel confident that most of his victims won’t ever come forward. I guess he hopes that they will take it to their graves and simply not tell a soul. It saddened me that such women could have such a low opinion of male children. That’s why in my mind if say ten men come forward with respect to Sandusky..... how many remain silent?

I am sorry what happened to you as a child. I know it is common for abused victims to start abusing younger victims at a early age. I wonder if that was what happened to the boy. I have really thought about that conversation over and over in my mind and it still disturbs me. There is no difference in my mind when it comes to innocent children. They are innocent and any abuse (male or female) is not their fault, doesn’t predict any sort of “turning” into something they aren’t and doesn’t reflect a possible predisposition.

A man like him, it could be thousands. The number two hundred I see batted around and the guy is how old? That is most unlikely. It would have to be in the thousands.

Those poor boys, carrying around such hurt, shame, confusion and anger.
It is an evil, a life long evil to keep to oneself. I can’t imagine their excitement of being with a football coach, the envy of their friends, and then, .... Lord God in heaven, have mercy on all of those souls.

I’m not sorry about what happened to me as a child, that was my point. The way my parents handled it, getting me the hell away from the abuser and making the whole thing no big deal, made this experience a real non-event for me. I don’t know what happened to the abuser. As I recall, he was probably 4 years older and developmentally disabled. He needed some kind of dealing with but for the life of me I don’t know what.

Your parents handled your situation absolutely perfectly. Thank goodness you had such good parents. What is so sorry about the Sandusky case is that many of those boys were in foster care, orphans, dysfunctional/uninvolved families... they didn’t have good people standing up for them and doing the right thing.

Interesting to say the least. I suppose some women are afraid to deal with the emotional baggage of a sexually abused mate or perhaps they are worried that their mate my “go gay” on them which might hurt the woman’s self-confidence.

My sister once had a boyfriend that turned gay on her. She was very upset over it at the time. I suppose it’s a wound to a woman’s psyche to think her lover would prefer a man to her. She eventually found an older man to marry and I don’t think there are any lasting scars.

In Michael Jackson’s trial only one kid came forward and there was no or not much institutional, child services and police documentation of reports made about Jackson.

This case is not the same.

I can understand how upset the victim is having to relive all this and see Sandusky manipulate on tv. But he should know Sandusky is a manipulator of boys and parents who did not know what he was doing. He’s now dealing with adults who are not so easily manipulated and do know what he was doing to boys. It is a whole new ballgame.

But I hope this victim can man up here. There are going to be visious defenders of the pervert who are basically perverts themselves. He’s better than them and they have nothing to do with him.

He was given very light bail by a female judge who worked as a volunteer for his foundation.

Profits from Penn State’s football program are more than $70 million a year. I bet they would throw in fifty right now to make this all go away.
