NEW DELHI: A city court caused a stir on Friday when it asked legislators to consider castration as an alternative punishment for child abusers. "Castration is the most befitting sentence which can be imposed on any pedophile or serial offender but the hands of this court are tied as the statute does not provide for it... Indian legislators are yet to explore this as an alternative to conventional sentencing," observed additional sessions judge Kamini Lau. ASJ Lau sentenced a man to imprisonment for his "entire life" for raping his six-year-old niece and directed the prison authorities not to give him...

BELLEFONTE, Pa. – The judge overseeing the child sex abuse case of Jerry Sandusky said the former Penn State assistant coach can see most of his grandchildren while he awaits trial. The judge ruled Monday that Sandusky can also use a jury chosen from the State College area to hear his case. Sandusky had sought eased bail restrictions that would allow him access to his grandchildren. In his ruling, the judge said Sandusky can see the children under their parents' supervision, except for three grandchildren who are the subject of custody litigation. Prosecutors had

BELLEFONTE – Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky lashed out Friday at former friends and neighbors whose complaints prompted prosecutors this week to seek his confinement inside his State College house. Sandusky's remarks to reporters came moments after a court heard testimony that several people had expressed concern over his frequent presence on his back deck, yards from a neighboring elementary school. "All of a sudden these people turn on me when they've been in my home with their kids, they've attended birthday parties here for my grandchildren, they've been on that deck and in that yard," he...

Jerry Sandusky, accused of child sex abuse, will be in court soon asking a judge to modify the terms of his bail so he can see his grandchildren. Sandusky, 68, was charged in November with abusing 10 boys over 15 years, many of whom he met through his charity, The Second Mile. As part of a bail agreement that keeps him out of jail but on house arrest, Sandusky is not to have any contact with kids, including his grandchildren. His attorney, Joe Amendola, has said that family members are among those that brought accusations against the former Penn State...

“Whatever the details of the investigation are, this much is clear to me: There was a villain in this tragedy. It lies in the investigation, not in Joe Paterno’s response to it,” Knight said, prompting a prolonged standing ovation from the crowd in the Bryce Jordan Center on the Penn State campus. Despite Paterno’s actions, “he was excoriated by the media and fired over the telephone by his university. Yet in all his subsequent appearances in the press, on TV, interacting with students, conversing with hospital personnel, giving interviews, he never complained, he never lashed out. Every word, every bit...

Joe Paterno, who died Sunday morning at age 85, will go down as a martyr. For what, it’s not clear. Not at this moment, anyway. It likely will take the sands of time and the sifting of those fine granules through the life and complex era of a dignified man to let us know what the final chiseled decision will be. Does the fact that Pater-no won more Division I college football games than anyone (409), had a high graduation rate, loved his family, gave huge sums to the Penn State library and stayed in a modest house in one...

GRAND RAPIDS, MI—Scott Allan Herrick, 40, of Twin Lakes, Michigan, was sentenced to serve 95 years in prison, U.S. Attorney Donald A. Davis announced today. Herrick surreptitiously videotaped boys as they were dressing in the boys’ locker room in the YMCA in Muskegon and kept a massive collection of 100,000 images of child pornography with him at the Gerber Boy Scout Camp in Twin Lakes, Michigan. He was convicted at trial of three counts of attempting to produce child pornography. On the first day of trial, Herrick pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing child pornography and one count of...

Introduction I was elected to the Penn State Board of Trustees more than two decades ago, and served on it as an alumni Trustee for twelve years — from 1988 to 2000. I came onto the Board thinking that it was a deliberative body such as one reads about in civics books. It is not. It took me years to understand what was really going on. In what follows, I hope to shed some light on the inner workings of the Board, as well as to explain both why the Board remains so secretive, and why it has offered so...

PITTSBURGH -- Penn State University president Rodney Erickson faces a crowd of alumni Wednesday in Pittsburgh, some of whom aren't happy about the way the school handled the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, the firing of football coach Joe Paterno and a lack of transparency in dealing with the case. Erickson is attempting to repair the school's image with alumni, faculty, staff and students, more than two months since Sandusky was arrested. Some alumni have criticized the school saying it failed to conduct a complete investigation before firing Paterno and ousting Erickson's predecessor, Graham Spanier, while decrying the school's...

The National Confederation of Disabled People called the action "incomprehensible," and said pedophiles are now awarded a higher government disability pay than some people who have received organ transplants. The Labor Ministry said categories added to the expanded list - that also includes pyromaniacs, compulsive gamblers, fetishists and sadomasochists - were included for purposes of medical assessment and used as a gauge for allocating financial assistance. But NCDP leader Yiannis Vardakastanis, who is blind, warned the new list could create new difficulties for disabled Greeks who are already facing benefit cuts due to the country's financial crisis. "What's happened is...

Jerry Sandusky's book, 'Touched,' helped police investigation into alleged sex crimesBy SARA GANIM, The Patriot-News Published: Sunday, January 08, 2012, 12:01 AM The investigation of Jerry Sandusky took three years. And it took Sandusky himself — through the pages of his autobiography, “Touched” — to help police find Victims 3, 4, 5 and 7. At the end of 2009, police had spent almost a year trying to corroborate claims by a single boy — a 17-year-old Clinton County teen later known as Victim 1 — who had alleged years of sexual abuse by Penn State’s legendary defensive coach. Only one...

January 4, 2012 (PublicDiscourse.com) - The anger and disgust that most of us experienced when we learned of the allegations of sexual abuse of boys in the sports programs at Penn State and Syracuse University suggest that our cultural norms about the sexual abuse of minors are intact. Yet it was only a decade ago that a parallel movement had begun on some college campuses to redefine pedophilia as the more innocuous “intergenerational sexual intimacy.” The publication of Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children from Sex promised readers a “radical, refreshing, and long overdue reassessment of how we...

The USA’s first openly gay Episcopal bishop, Gene Robinson, has responded to presidential hopeful Rick Perry's anti-gay TV promotion suggesting that "it must break God's heart to see religion used in a political campaign like this." Bishop Robinson of the Episcopal Church showed his distaste in a TV interview with MSNBC and also by writing an opinion piece in the Washington Post newspaper. Perry had stated in his commercial that “You don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t...

OTTAWA, Ontario (CCN) -- Bishop Raymond Lahey is not a pedophile and poses virtually no risk of sexual abuse or violence against children, a forensic psychiatrist testified during a sentencing hearing for the prelate who has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges. John Bradford, the psychiatrist who examined Bishop Lahey, described him Dec. 19, the first day of the hearing, as a homosexual with an addiction to Internet pornography. The bishop also entertains sadomasochistic fantasies, but indicated during questioning that he has never acted on those fantasies, Bradford said at the hearing. Bradford said that in a sexual history inventory,...

Penn State rebuffs CNN request for records on 1998 Sandusky investigationBy Greg Botelho, CNN updated 12:38 AM EST, Mon December 19, 2011 (CNN) -- Penn State has rejected a CNN public records request for a copy of a 1998 campus police report tied to sexual misconduct allegations made against then-assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, a lawyer for the school told CNN. Amy Elizabeth McCall, an assistant general counsel, asserted in a letter to CNN that Penn State is "a state-related institution" and not a "state school" like some in other states, and therefore does not have the same public records...

He knew, in his own words from the grand jury: In the testimony, Paterno said he "knew inappropriate action was taken by Jerry Sandusky with a youngster" after a meeting with then-graduate assistant Mike McQueary, who allegedly saw Sandusky sexually abusing a boy in a locker room shower the previous night, but did not inform police and waited at least a day to inform his boss, athletic director Tim Curley, because he "didn't want to interfere with their weekends."

Pope Benedict XVI offered a word of encouragement Wednesday to the Legionaries of Christ order, which has been reeling since revelations that its revered founder was a fraud and pedophile. The Legion ordained 49 new priests this week in Rome, and many Legionaries and their families attended the pope's general audience inside the Vatican. In remarks at the end of the audience, Benedict said he was praying that God would support the new Legion priests "so that you can carry out with joy and loyalty your mission." Benedict named an envoy to take over the Legion last year after the...

Jerry Sandusky’s attorney really isn’t doing him any favors. Sandusky, the former Penn State assistant coach who has been accused of over 50 counts of sexual assault against young boys, waived his preliminary hearing this morning. His attorney, Joseph Amendola, then addressed the media in an impassioned — if horribly misguided — manner. Amendola announced that anyone who believes that Sandusky is a child molester should call “1-800-REALITY.” The folks at Deadspin did, and this is what they discovered:

The past two weeks have brought three separate reports of alleged child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry. As California Mandate Looms, Some LGBT Curriculum Already In Place By Debra Goldschmidt In 10th grade English at Los Angeles’ Grover Cleveland High School, Danielle Taklender's students read the book "Luna" by Julie Anne Peters. It's a story about a transgender teen. Taklender has been teaching the book for seven years without any fanfare or push back. It’s getting noticed now as her school district takes the lead in developing a plan to comply with the first state law mandating lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history and social science curricula. The California law, which takes effect in January, stops short...

STATE COLLEGE -- Minutes after Mike McQueary says he stumbled upon something between Jerry Sandusky and a boy in a Penn State shower in 2002, he went to his father’s State College home seeking advice. There, Dr. Jonathan Dranov, a family friend and colleague of McQueary’s father, sat with the then 28-year-old graduate assistant and listened to his very first account of what he had seen, a source told The Patriot-News. According to the source with knowledge of Dranov’s testimony before the grand jury, it went like this: McQueary heard "sex sounds" and the shower running, and a young boy...

December 6, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - After a series of child sex abuse revelations hit Hollywood in the past month, both experts and previous child stars say the crackdown only scratches the surface of what has long been the entertainment industry’s darkest secret. Fox News reported Monday that former child stars of several eras - one even well into his 60s - reacted with grim sagacity as sex abuse charges were laid or discovered against three Hollywood employees: Martin Weiss, a 47-year-old Hollywood manager who represented child actors; Fernando Rivas, 59, an award-winning composer for “Sesame Street”; and registered sex offender...

GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann learned that protesters often come in adorable packages. A video captures the Minnesota congresswoman greeting 8-year-old Elijah and his mom at a signing event for Bachmann's book, "Core of Conviction: My Story," in South Carolina. The candidate, who is an outspoken opponent of same-sex marriage, met her match with the soft-spoken, pint-sized activist. The video shows Bachmann leaning in to listen closely as the youngster whispers, "My mommy's gay, but she doesn't need fixing."

PHILADELPHIA -- Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky sexually abused a young boy more than 100 times after meeting him through the charity he founded, then threatened the boy's family to keep him quiet about the encounters, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday. The lawsuit identifies the plaintiff, an adult, only as John Doe. It claims Sandusky abused the boy at the coach's State College home, at Penn State facilities and on at least one bowl game trip. The plaintiff is not among eight victims named in a grand jury report released earlier this month that detailed a...

FORT WORTH, Texas (BP) -- The headlines stunned the nation. The accusations of child sexual abuse by former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky have outraged an entire country. We were shocked by the alleged evil of a seemingly respectable man, sickened by the unthinkable abuse of his victims, and incensed by the moral cowardice of those who didn't do enough to stop it. Like Israel in the time of the Judges -- in the dregs of their moral bankruptcy -- we too have asked, "What is this wickedness that has occurred among you?" (Judges 20:12). As reprehensible as the...

The Mafia is a degenerate organization which exploits human misery for criminal profit, and even children are not beyond the reach of its dirty hands. In 1986 federal postal inspectors discovered cartons of magazines seemingly depicting underage boys "engaged in...

The allegations towards accused Penn State pedophile Jerry Sandusky continue with his grandson now coming forward with claims of sexual abuse. A complaint was filed against the former assistant coach by the wife of one of his adopted sons, Matt Sandusky with Pennsylvania's Children's and Youth Services, his lawyer told ABC News. “The allegations are ridiculous and unfounded. Jerry has absolutely denied any inappropriate contact with his grand kids.” Sandusky's attorney Joseph Amendola said. Sandusky's daughter-in-law filed for a restraining order after his November 5 arrest to prevent her children from sleeping over.

Two years ago, Thom Hunter, a volunteer coach at Central Mountain High School in Mill Hall, Pa., saw something special in a 15-year-old boy at the school: a remarkable natural running ability. “There’s not anyone tougher than him when he runs,” Hunter said of the teenager. “You see other people start out too hard like he does, and they just collapse. It’s amazing to watch him just push through it.” In Hunter, it seems, the young high school runner saw something that felt just as rare: a coach he could trust, an adult male who would neither abandon nor harm...

The victim told ABC News that he made audiotapes in 2001 of conversations where Prof. Jack Neisworth admitted performing oral sex on him. “Although I had clear evidence of abuse by this professor, the university refused to act,” charged McLaughlin. “Last week’s arrest of Penn State coach...
