How would you feel if the government told you that you couldn’t smoke in your own car?
Perhaps you’d endorse the idea that public health officials were trying to make it harder for people to maintain a habit that increases their risk of developing lung cancer, emphysema, heart disease and a host of other problems. Maybe you’d rejoice that you’d never again be forced to carpool to a meeting with a chain-smoking colleague. You might even breathe a sigh of relief for all the children of smokers who would be able to ride to school, soccer practice and piano lessons without being forced to inhale clouds of secondhand smoke.
And some of you – smokers or not – might be more than a tad annoyed at the prospect of Big Brother dictating what you can and cannot do in the privacy of your own vehicle.

I would ignore it like I do most obtrusive nanny state laws. Well, if I smoked I would. Maybe I would start smoking just to ignore it...
Funny, I stopped using my seatbelt when they made that mandatory... well I still use it on the interstate and on long trips, but I work 4 miles from home and rarely go much further than that.

And some people will like it when hamburgers are against the law to eat.
Maybe I would start smoking just to ignore it...I used to smoke and the only time I miss it is when I read about idiot anti-smoking laws, rules, campaigns or "measures".
Though of course it's true that women and minorities are hardest hit.

But drivers in the United Kingdom may be restricted from lighting up behind the wheel – if the country’s doctors have their way.
A report released Wednesday from the British Medical Assn.’s Board of Science calls on governments in the U.K. to impose a ban on smoking in vehicles as part of its overall effort to “achieve a tobacco-free society by 2035.””

I always wear my seatbelt even before they made it a “LAW”.
I could care less if the person next to me in traffic catapults themselves through their windshield when they get a wreck.
I am against Helmet laws, but there should be a law for goggles because it affects other drivers. But someone being an organ donor because they were too dumb to wear a helmet or a seatbelt, I have no issue with that whatsoever.
When a person pays their own car payments it is their business if they want to smoke. Until such time as someone else pays it for that person...they can BUTT out. :0 :)
Don’t NOT use your seatbelt because of making stand. that’s dumb. It’s your life and...remember they say most acidents happen close to home. So, wear your seatbelt and put your energies into something that WON’T HARM YOU.
eCigs are the answer. “This isn’t tobacco, this isn’t smoke. it’s vapor.”
I get my cigs from out of state (1/3 the cost) and share as many as I can upwind of these “no-go” zones.
As an added benefit, it helps me get in the face of more nanny-staters. I never said a word to anyone when I was a non-smoker but now it's funny getting all these idiots out of the woodwork.
