I bought a 20 gage, holds 5 shells and left it at my daughter home until her husband taught me to shoot and load the gun...I figured if I had it at home, and had a break in the gun could be used against me if I wasn't able to load and shoot...position in the proper place in the shoulder is important. very little kick back unless in the wrong placement...

Several years back got on a freeper thread about home protection and the consensus came out to a particular shot gun for home protection and that's what I bought...Its home now and I am comfortable about it, but did shoot it several different times at the daughter house...She lives in the woods with a driveway 1/3 mile off the rural road...

I purchased a youth because the adult shotgun was too long for my arm reach. Its a Remington 870. Tried several others at the gun shop, but this was also the most comfortable..

When you have a choice, go comfortable! The reasons are simply physical.

How about the Targus Judge? It’s a large revolver that will take .410s or .45s. A 410 gage rifle would do the job but you can’t keep it in a drawer.

I think I’d use nonlethal shells, at least the first couple. A friend said you could shoot a blank from one of these guns and it would scare the bad guy to death.

I keep thinking about getting a gun but haven’t gotten around to doing it.

“Remington 870.” Good choice in .20 gauge for home defense.

“”but did shoot it several different times at the daughter house.””

I’m sure you didnt’t mean that the way it came out - LOL!

I’ve been shooting since I was 12 years old but I’ve stayed away from shotguns. Now that I’m much, much older, maybe I’ll reconsider it. My husband bought one for me - at least he calls it “your shotgun” but after shooting it in the CA desert one time, I wasn’t interested in continuing.
