DNC fights back: Obama never called Americans ‘lazy’ By Alicia M. Cohn - 11/17/11 09:55 AM ET

The Democratic National Committee pushed back in a new Web ad Thursday, a response to attacks by Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Perry over President Obama’s use of the word “lazy.”

According to an email from a DNC aide, the ad is designed to prove Romney and Perry are “being dishonest” about what Obama really said and the context in which he said it.

"Another gaffe. Another manipulation. Another attack we just can't believe," reads the ad's text.

"We've been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades," Obama said last weekend at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Hawaii. He was speaking to American CEOs about American businesses “tak[ing] for granted [that] people will want to come here and we aren’t out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new business into America."

Obama also said, "There are a lot of things that make foreign investors see the U.S. as a great opportunity: our stability, our openness, our innovative free-market culture."

Romney’s campaign accused Obama of blaming Americans “for his own mishandling of the economy” in a press release after the event, and Romney attacked Obama's use of "lazy" in a speech the following week.

“Sometimes I just don’t think that President Obama understands America,” Romney said at a campaign stop in South Carolina. “He said that Americans are lazy. I don’t think that describes Americans.”

Perry’s response was even stronger, attacking Obama in a Web video that his campaign plans to air on national TV.

"Can you believe that? That's what our president thinks is wrong with America? That Americans are lazy? That's pathetic,” Perry says in the ad.

“Rick Perry and Mitt Romney apparently don’t think the president should encourage CEOs to promote the United States abroad in order to create American jobs and attract investment at home,” Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said in response to the attacks.

It might possibly be because I am a mathematician who has taken some courses in logic, but I can’t see the point that the DNC is trying to make. The closest I can come is: “Obama’s words were taken out of context, and he wasn’t talking about Americans, he was talking about American businesses.” Which are run by whom? The Dutch??

I really liked Perry's ad. Strong...to the point...and pulled no punches about this.

The President, when referring to America, said,

"We've been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades, taking for granted [that] people will want to come here and we aren’t out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new business into America."

How can the DNC spin that? It's clear what he thinks and it is not the 1st time by a long shot that he has made such statements.

He believes Americans and American business and their laziness is what has kept them from attracting more business to these shores. Everyone with half a brain knows that the onerous taxes and reguilations that government...and particularly the Obama administration of late which has doubled down on the regulations...is what has kept more business from coning here...and driven a lot of the business we had here out of America.

We all heard Obama call us “lazy” - we did not misunderstand anything! He holds us in contempt. I will be so glad when he is not the Pres any longer.

I support Anybody But Obama, but it is clear that the context of Barry’s remark was that “we” have become lazy about attracting new business to America. As usual, he was off-teleprompter and got his syntax garbled. We are quick to complain when statements of, let’s say, Herman Cain are taken out of context. We shouldn’t be doing it ourselves. There are plenty of real things to object to about the Manchild.

We all heard Obama call us “lazy”

We've also been called fat by his adorably porcine and steatopygous spouse.

So, those two grifters living in OUR White House have called us FAT and LAZY.

What a great leader of our Country! This from two grifters who have not had to work a day in their lives and are now on a vacation-rich pile of freebees on the taxpayer dole. What a couple of creeps!

DISGUSTING!
