“The government consists of a gang of men exactly like you and me. They have, taking one with another, no special talent for the business of government; they have only a talent for getting and holding office. Their principal device to that end is to search out groups who pant and pine for something they can’t get and to promise to give it to them. Nine times out of ten that promise is worth nothing. The tenth time is made good by looting A to satisfy B. In other words, government is a broker in pillage, and every election is sort of an advance auction sale of stolen goods.”

Ah yes, the perfect voter who has found the perfect candidate is inviting all others to his party. What's that? You say you don't have a perfect candidate so you'll just help Milt and Barry bassturd? We thought so ...

Just once I’d like to see conservatives actually stand on principle instead of flapping their gums about it only to throw themselves at the feet of the biggest insider in elections.

Research people, research.

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but what exactly is your point regarding the list of donors? Fannie and Freddie both gave approximately equally to both parties...

Actually it was more of a matter of showing the hypocrisy of conservatives.

When caught, they declare that it doesn’t matter. Just like democrats.

Ah, yep, we’re in violent agreement! No lack of hypocrisy on either side of the aisle. The only difference we’re starting to see is between the Elitist Ruling Class and the energing new Tea Party and traditionalists, libertarians, and the few Republicans who dare to deviate from the party line. Let’s hope they prevail.

Talk about your ultimate in candidate screw-ups!

Are you talking about Cain? You must be because there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in that Newt clip anything close to a "screw-up". He was very effective in DC, and has a lot of great ideas. THAT is why he had a successful consulting firm, and that is why he is surging in the polls.

So your point is that ZERO experience is a great resume enhancer for being POTUS? How's that working out right now, genius?

I believe your question is slightly misplaced. Who’s been lambasting who trying to convince anyone that Newt isn’t an insider. What else could you call him?

Lambasting because some can’t get over the picture on the couch? Or that he believed in global warming before it was debunked? He’s addressed this “old news” but some can’t drop it. But who’s defending him by saying he’s not an insider???

You demand on Cain threads that critics instead make the case for their candidate. So if that is what you demand of others, uphold that standard for yourself.

Freddie Mac gives Newt Gingrich $1.6 million and all I got was a foreclosure notice.

Reagan was an insider as well, not sure what the point is? There’s a difference between being an insider that will play the insider game, & being an insider that knows how the game is played.

I love Cain, but as an outsider, he’s been played by the insiders because he’s not familiar w/ how the game is played. Cain is a brilliant man but has been unfamiliar w/ this battlefield & has paid the price.

Gingrich’s point is that he knows where the landmines are & can thus navigate through the dangerous territory better than the outside novice. It’s a valid point.

Had Reagan not spent time as governor in California, he probably wouldn’t have been near as effective as president. Even THEN, he got played by Tip O’Niel on some crucial issues. Had he had another term, with all the “insider” experience, he would have been an even better president than what he already was. He would have had a better knowledge of the insider landmines.

So, he made better use of capitalism than you did. Are you stating that he shouldn’t have? Would you not have taken advantage of the opportunity? You’re not taking the liberal “it’s not fair” ruse are you?

Remember, Newt stopped consulting well before the crash & bailouts.
